We don't have a camper, so we'll have to learn what you need to stay here. We live in the country and have plenty of land. We are a homeschooling family of 5 and would love to meet people and hear their stories. You can tap into our well water if a hose can reach. Cell phones don't work well in our valley until you get a mile away on the highway. Hopefully you could get some signal from our wireless. We have a big dog who is harmless.
We are 10 minutes from I90. You drive about a mile on gravel to get to our house.
We are home most of the time.
We are 10 minutes from the Root River Bike Trail (http://www.rootrivertrail.org/site/index.php) in either Houston or Rushford. Houston has a nature center (http://www.houstonnaturecenter.com/) and nice Natural Playground. We are 20 minutes from Winona, MN and 30 minutes from La Crosse, WI. Both of these cities are on the Mississippi with likely bald eagle viewing. We are 60 minutes from Mayo Clinic. Our house is located in a scenic bluff valley, and deer are common here.
Very thoughtful and generous Hostess who, along with her husband, work endlessly to keep this idyllic Prairie-Canyon property Native yet manageable and instructive:) The girls are bright and studious and son Joseph will keep an eye on helping you (while delivering a ready smile, fresh veggies & DE-LISH rice pudding).
Nutmeg is perhaps the largest Dog you'll ever meet - and does an EXCELLENT Job of protecting the chickens - but he needs more Guest Pets;~) Thank you M & J!
We loved our visit. Easy to find and warm welcoming family. Thanks
We had a great stay here. The family was very welcoming. A little tight manoeuvring to park our 36' 5th wheel but it was manageable. You could go slightly larger as well. Would highly recommend this place.
What a wonderful visit with Engineering 1 and family. Such a beautiful location with lots of walking trails and views of the neighboring hills (mountains). Awoke to chickens greeting the day and letting everyone know when they laid eggs! I was fortunate enough to be there when they had planned a Renaissance dinner. I learned “trenchers” are dinner plates made of baked bread and the food sits on top of the bread. There were no forks since they were not invented yet!. What a fun night with great food. I was also given fresh eggs before leaving. Their son was soooo helpful to me while setting up my rig and he also spent time with my little dog too! Such a nice and gracious family! Would love to stay here again if passing through the area!
This was our first Boondocking experience, and if all hosts are like these wonderful people, we made the right decision in joining! We were given a helpful packet of information on the area, which led us to biking the Root River Trail and delicious pie. We were sent on our way with special treats from their garden and home-made 18th century hot chocolate. Thank you!
These are spectacular hosts. They shared there beautiful land with us nestled in the bluffs between Winona and Rochester. A real treat!
We had a great time staying at this host’s home. It’s a beautiful and quiet setting. They were able to take us in last minute as we passed through the area. Our girls enjoyed the playground and playing with the chickens along with interacting with the host family’s kids. They also enjoyed catching fire flies when it got dark. There’s little to no light pollution, so it’s ideal for star gazing. Our daughter easily spotted the Milky Way. The host even shared some delicious rice pudding with us for breakfast. We are very appreciative of the warm hospitality we received from this family.
Engineering1 has a beautiful, quiet spot. The stars were amazing and their hospitality went far beyond what is expected. You will be blessed staying with them!
The hosts were lovely! We had good communication leading up to our arrival and no issues finding the place with GPS and their instructions. We enjoyed a hike around their beautiful property on mowed paths. And had a quiet peaceful night. Exactly what we needed!
Had an enjoyable visit with a very sweet family and big dog. They shared their WiFi , which was wonderful.
Lovely area in a rural valley
Wow, this couple have a very interesting range of experience and backgrounds. Great conversations and a place that was exceptionally quiet.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit with engineering1. They were very accomadating. Their children and pets were very friendly and our boys enjoyed playing with them. I really loved walking their paths around the wildflowers. The camper spot was perfect.
This beautiful homestead is secluded in between several tall hills all around it, so the only traffic noise is an occasional car on the gravel road. Be aware that internet hotspots will not work back there, but the host has unsecured WI-FI available. Our Verizon phones were able to get weak, but usable signal. The hosts and their children we're very hospitable, and shared some red cherries off their tree. If you want peace and quiet, this location has it!
It was wonderful to stay with this lovely family, who made us feel so welcome.
They are very warm and generous people, with lovely children and a massive loveable dog.
Thanks again for everything! :-)
Sorry for our late post.
Thank you very much for your great welcoming ! You made us very comfortable.
You were very helpfull. The eggs and the asparagus were beautiful.
The kids were very happy to play with your kids.
Thanks a lot
The french family
Enjoyed meeting this family, their son helped me set up camp and I enjoyed that, as mine is grown. They gave me some fresh asparagus for dinner and a couple fresh eggs for breakfast. Highly recommend as hosts.
We stayed at this location for two nights. There is 15 amp service available on side of the house. Water is also available. We enjoyed talking with the family. They shared their apple crisp with us, it was delicious. The children are adorable, inquisitive and well behaved. The dog was funny.
Great friendly family! We enjoyed our stay and the landscape is beautiful! Our child enjoyed playing with the children and at the playground! Thanks again for your welcome! Florence, Jacques and Yaël
We stayed at their rural property in the Bluff Country of Southeastern Minnesota.
The site was just what we were looking for. The whole family was very hospitable and we came away with some eggs from their free range chickens.
