Have you stayed at this host location?
Leave a reference for this hostRural setting on the west side of Lake Wylie. Just 40 minutes from downtown Charlotte. You can dry camp at the top of driveway in the open area on the left as you come onto the property. May need a little leveling but not much. The closest public loading dock is about 4 or 5 miles away if you interested in going to the lake.
Request that guests plan to arrive before dark so you can navigate driveway and park safely.
Have fun and stop in to say hello. We love to talk about everyone's travels. Pets are welcome but must keep them at your campsite and not roam. There are other pets in the area so want to keep all happy. You can run a generator during the day but request quiet hours between 10pm-7am.
Easy access off gravel road. Stay on gravel road to top of hill and keep right to last house at the end of road.
Site can accommodate flat tow vehicles. Site not conducive for coaches with car trailers. It’s best to disconnect toad at top (flat) part of driveway then pull coach down to house to turn around to park RV. You can then park tow vehicle next to rig once in site.
Carowinds, NASCAR hall of fame, Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens, US Whitewater Rafting center, Lake Wylie just to name a few.
We thoroughly enjoyed our longer than expected stay with JLHigh. From the initial greeting to our goodbyes they were gracious hosts. The camping spot was private and fairly level.
A nice spot for a couple of nights. Host was great and it was a peaceful stay. We even saw a deer. Thanks for welcoming us last minute!
We really enjoyed our night at Eagles Nest. Very peaceful setting. No trouble with our 24ft class c. Rhe host wasn't home but graciously allowed us to stay anyway. We'll probably use this location again. 😂👍
Host was very helpful and kind. Gorgeous property. Wish I had more time there
This was a lovely way to end a long day.
Quiet greenery and an inviting host.
Thank you.
I had to cut short my trip when the pandemic hit so scrambled to make my way back to the northeast. JLHigh was very accommodating when I had to switch dates at the last minute, and I enjoyed a second trip to the Eagle's Nest. After a long day of driving in the beating rain I forgot that I needed to go further down the driveway in order to turn around; instead I made a couple sharp turns and reverse gear moves which dug up/pitted the pad. The host was truly understanding which to me embodies the great spirit and empathy of the boondocking community. I hope to visit again and this time get the parking right!
Thank you JL for welcoming us with open arms! The kids had a blast playing bocce ball and enjoying the outdoors! JL were very informative about the area. L also shared some of her mom’s mosaic yard art. Hospitality was outstanding! They offered for us to refill our water as needed! We look forward to staying again in the future! Thank you for making our first boondockers stay memorable! God bless!
Unfortunately I arrived late was tired was shown a great level spot to park. Said a few words settled and got a great nights sleep.
Then headed out early in the morning. I wish I had taken advantage of the beautiful lake area but the spot was dark and quiet just the way I like it.
I spent 2 nights at Eagle's Nest while visiting a friend in Lake Wylie. The location is close to the lake. The host was very welcoming and gracious when I met him and I enjoyed sharing our RV travels when we spoke.
The Eagle's Nest soars!
What a great place to boondock. Our hosts were amazing! Quiet and very peaceful. Lots a flat space and privacy. Loved sharing travel stories and the coffee klatch send off was so much fun. Thanks Eagle's Nest. Hope to see you again on the road.
Stayed a couple of nights at Eagles Nest but our Hosts were away for the weekend so we did not get the opportunity to meet them. So nice to still have a place to boondock even though they couldn't be there. Very quiet and secluded location with a very friendly cat to greet us. Quick access to groceries and restaurants in the area but still feels like you are out in the country. Thank you, Eagles Nest!
These nice folks have a peaceful, and easy to access location. After chatting a bit, we set up our rig, ate dinner and went to sleep to the sound of crickets. Hope to come back sometime. Thanks again!
For just getting home from your week at the beach, we're glad you took the time to have us spend the night.
Thanks again.
Mike and Penny
This was our 1st Boondockers Welcome stay. It was fantastic. While I was having troubles with my leveling jacks, I didn't need them. The spot was level and when I checked with a small bubble level, the bubble was centered in the lines both side to side and front to back.
It was a real peaceful spot. We loved listening to the "night creatures", tree frogs, crickets... at night. Had a great time.
Thanks again
Talk about quiet how about dead end drive and park next to main driveway plenty of room. Won't hesitate to stay here again.
We echo the reports of others, that This couple could not have been nicer, and the site is private, wooded, quiet and makes Charlotte accessible. We would love to return if we get the chance. Two words.... Stay here!
We never got to meet John, as he was out if town. His daughter Erin as there greeted us warmly. The place was lovely and we were surrounded by woods, very private.
We will definitely return when we are in the area!!
Our stay at the Eagles Nest was our first experience with this site. We were warmly welcomed at the site and got to talk a bit with our lovely hosts. Sadly we didn’t stay long since we had to leave the very next morning but even with our short stay it was very nice.
We enjoyed our stay here at the eagle’s nest. John and Lisa have a great spot, and want to make sure you enjoy your stay. This is a real boondocing experience. You feel like you’ve got your own private spot in the woods, but you’re not far from the city as well. Thanks for letting us stay.
The Eagles Nest made a great respite from our city touring. John and Lisa made us feel very welcome and it was great to sit, chat, and exchange adventure stories. No world problems were solved but then again they weren’t brought up. John however was a great help in resolving the mysteries of vapor lock. One less gremlin to deal with. Thanks guys.
We really enjoyed our stay on John's beautiful property. It's in a great location with a lot of shopping and restaurants nearby. We were able to run our generator without feeling like we were disturbing anyone since the site is at the front of John's long driveway. It was great meeting John and Lisa, and we truly appreciate them allowing us to stay. We hope to see them back in AZ, maybe up at the Grand Canyon?
Oh my lands, my first official boondocking welcome stay, and I can't say enough about this wonderful family! On the way to their house there was trouble with my van. They took care of my van, trailer and the pets, I was made safe and sound, could not thank them enough. The stay was quiet and peaceful, with a large area to take my dogs exploring we did a lot of walking!. To wake up and see a deer crossing the field next to the house was a sight to see. John with his experience gave me sound advice about my trailer and helped by repairing my outside lights and steered me to a local business. Thanks again!
We stayed for one night and it was easy to find. Parking spot was elevated grassy With no soft/wet spots even though it was raining and snowing. Friendly communication, came over and said hello in the morning.
One of his neighbors had some dogs on the loose while I was
walking mine down the gravel road but I think it was bad timing, owner came over right away.
Nice place to relax. Thanks a bunch. close to city but out in the quiet countryside
