We stayed one night at this place. It offers a lot of space in a beautifull garden. Also very kind people. Would love to meet them again.
thanks for the kind words. we (the group of 8) enjoyed the time with you. Beautiful large garden in a quiet location and friendly owners who help you with tips on outings etc. highly recommended.
We felt very welcome. Our hosts were friendly and generous. They have a lovely property with a little lending library. Also a picnic table and electricity, which we did not need except to charge our phone. Nice flat property with lots of room.
We stayed at Bob and Brenda’s private retreat in Port Alberni and were very comfortable. By far the quietest place we’ve overnighted on this trip. We ventured to the coast the next day (short 1.25 hour drive) but chose to return to their wonderful spot for more peace and private boondocking. It is spacious with beautiful gardens and lots of room to spread out and walk around their well kept yard. They take a lot of pride in the grounds. Had a very nice time talking with them both, hearing of their travels and and will enjoy some of the products of their garden. Highly recommended!
Beautiful property, great location, lovely welcoming hosts. Our first experience of Boondockers Welcome and we throughly enjoyed it.
Jasper's Mom and Dad were so kind and welcoming. Their home and yard are amazingly beautiful and perfectly equipped... it's as if you are in a resort. I can't say enough about the kindness and loveliness I experienced on my short stay... the only think I would have changed would be to stay a few days longer :-)
On top of that they gave me a heads up on how to get to the Ferry in Victoria... and a warning that the gps would steer me wrong. It did, but thankfully I had been well taken care of and knew exactly now to navigate. Personal touches like this are what you'll surely experience at Jasper's place.
Thank you for everything! xoxo
We enjoyed our stay in these guests even though we had to break up one-day 2 days. The place is beautiful, clean and well maintained. It's peaceful and their little dog is adorable. Our guests were welcoming and warm. It's a pleasure to have met them. Unfortunately my wife and I would have liked to exchange more with them. Our Master of English is more limited, this has restricted some exchange. Nevertheless, we have appreciated a lot of our stay and throw them away among others for their garlic 😉 a big thank you to both of you/ Nous avons apprécié notre séjour chez ces hôtes même si nous avons du écourter celui-ci de 2 jours.
Bob and Brenda are a lovely couple. So welcoming, and made us feel so comfortable. Enjoyed a fun evening visiting with them and the folks from Holland.
We stayed two nights with Jasper and his hosting parents. The site is lovely, beautiful yard, large, flat, and the hosts were very friendly. Would definitely recommend staying with them.
LOVED the set up at Jaspers: Gardens, green field, cottage, sculptures, lending library, perimeters, fire pit, garden furniture and even the precise poured concrete patio by the shop called to us. Loved the friendly horse next door too. Jasper is pretty darn special, he regularly came to check up on us, I have to say when he put his 2 paws on our bottom step, turned his head sideways, looked at us with doggy eyes, and made the saddest noise ever, it was all I could do to not give him all our tube steaks for dinner. (He's on a special diet) Upon our arrival at our hosts' home, they left their social engagement to take care of us and give us a tour of their property. What great people, a pleasure to meet and stay with them!
Many thanks for the lovely and quiet stay in this beautiful area. We enjoyed the ranch style setting. Our hosts were very kind and accommodating. Jasper the Beagle was very sweet and helpful with inspecting our camper the next morning. Happy trails and thanks again!
The Jaspers were very friendly and helpful
We stayed 2 nights, slept very well and get some good advice visiting the pacific Rim.
Thank you for the nice stay.

We came here for 1 night and they were really sweet and helpful. We don't need water or electricity but they proposed us twice. We were in the front of the house cause we leave early in the morning but we spend a great calm night!
Thank you so much to both of you.
Bob, Brenda, and Jasper are the most gracious and welcoming hosts! We enjoyed our stay, the location is excellent. We took day trips to Englishman Falls, Ucluelet and Tofino. Our dogs loved the large fenced yard where they could roam. Delightful conversations, swapping travel and life stories. Definitely would recommend and return to this gem!
Our first experience with Boondockers Welcome was a very good one. The hosts gave us a warm welcome and we felt right at home. Due to the weather we could not stay in the backyard, but we were offered to park in front of the house on the gravel driveway. No problem for us. We actually stayed two nights instead of only one and would come back if we come through Port Alberni again.
Bob and Brenda were wonderful host, they got us set up on arrival on their beautiful property. We told Bob we were going touring the next day and he offered if he could come also and drove us around town, he was a wealth of information. We even extended our stay and enjoyed our valued conversation with both of them. They were full of knowledge on boondockers and safety of our vehicle. We greatly appreciated our time with them.
There should be an “exceptional” button for Jasper’s people. They were both so inviting and generous. We asked about having a camp fire, assuming we would bring out our propane fire pit, and before we even finished dinner, a great fire was going in their huge fire pit, the neighbours came by for a visit, and we had a lovely evening. Their property is immaculate and they showed us to a parking spot right beside an out building and plugged us in. We hope to see them in Victoria some time! Thank you both very much! Jasper has good people 😀
We had a wonderful stay in the very large garden behind the house.
It is a very, very large garden and these is very beautiful, you can see that the owners with love their takes care for their property.
We stayed for 3 days by Jasper and it was for us the first time to use Boondocking and it was amazing. We thanks the owners for their hospitably.
In the neighborhood there is The Sproat Lake and by The BC Park* at the lake there are public showers.
So we took a swim in the lake and a lovely warm shower.
*There are two parts form this BC Park, one at the Lake and one on the other side of the hwy 4.
At the restaurant Drinkwater /Sport Lake Landing we had a nice dinner on the terrace with view on the Sproat Lake.
The owners gave us the advise for the dump station that we can go the Canadian Tires, this company is in Port Alberni. It is free.
With kind regards,
Ruud en Anneke Schmidt
Thanks hosts, it was a pleasure to of you to enjoy wealth and love for nature. The space there is for 3 host families is great. It was very nice to each other in the evening travel experiences. We have enjoyed your hospitality, beautiful surroundings and all the wonderful creations.
Thanks, Robert and Nelleke.from the Netherlands
Thanks so much for having us, we loved meeting you guys and staying in your beautiful garden, learning more about the area and trying your homegrown tomatoes. You were so flexible and quick to respond which made it all so easy. Also lovely to meet Jasper, s big hit with our kids! Thanks again
Beautiful quiet place, enough space and privacy. Very good atmosphere!
Lovely helpfull owners and warm welcome.
Our hosts had a beautiful large location to park the RV. We wanted Direct sunshine for the solar panels and they had a spot for us. We were able to leave our rig there for a few days and we were able to go on a excursion on a boat. We felt our rig was safe while we were gone. There Greeter Jasper (The Beagle) was very friendly. The Hosts provided us with an after dinner dessert the night before we left. The blueberries from there garden and the strawberries freshly picked were delicious. The library was a bonus and the outside composting toilet was available for our use. We were able to see little bunnies and Deer in the yard. Very easy going hosts and we enjoyed our stay very much and would come back again.. Thanks for the awesome stay.
We had a lovely time staying here. Bob and Brenda were very hospitable. We loved Jasper the dog to! Our dog had the best time here.
Thank you so much Bob and Brenda for having us at your wonderfull property in Port Alberni! We loved everything; little Jasper, the garden, the firepit, the library, the co-boondockers, the hospitality, the stories, the morning visit of the doe. Thank you!! It was the perfect way to start our 1month trip with the RV.
All the best, Edith and Imke
Jasper's place is great in every meaning! Lot's of space so there are deers and rabbits playing in in the evening sun. A lovely couple always helpful and great to talk to. We really like to see you again! Thank you and take care.
Stefan & Antje from Germany
Loved being with these folks. Jasper is affectionate and a most hospitable fur person - let me love all over him to satisfy my lack of a dog in my life. This family knocks itself out to make you feel at home and what a lovely one it is. The grounds are so calming and refreshing, a feast for the eyes and soul in all directions.
We took a ride on the "mail boat" - a kick.. you should do it if you can commit an entire day to this adventure.
We spent 2 quiet, lovely nights at Jasper's. Very friendly, helpful couple. Peaceful surroundings and I am sure it will be even nicer when they get all "yard work" done.
Warm thank you to Jasper who welcome us three nights on there idellic property. We felt welcoming and at home the minute we have met them.
The yard was big enough that we could have our privacy and at the same time have good talks and laugh with our hosts.
Thank you for your handy tips and for the best blackberries!
We already miss the morning welcome of the little beagle.
Would highly recommand these hosts!
Cath & Frank
We were thrilled to stay on this beautiful property! Their hospitality was outstanding. Our kids were welcome to be kids and run about in the relaxing back yard. Thanks again!
Jasper's beautiful home and land is well situated in the middle of the Island.
It makes it a great stop for a night or two while traveling through.
But what makes it even better is the friendly welcoming of this newly retired couple.
We were only there for a night but had a wonderful morning chatting and picking Black Berries from their beautiful garden.
Our dog ran around with their litlle Jasper in the large backyard.
A dream home!
This was also our first experience with Boondockers Welcome and we are sure to do it again in the near future!
Thank you for your hospitality!
We had a very nice welcome from our hosts. They made us confortable and were very helpful. The garden is very beautiful. We really enjoyed our 2 nights.
Wonderful property and great hosts. I would go back anytime.
We cannot express our appreciation enough or say enough great things about our hosts, a most lovely couple indeed. They were so incredibly welcoming and helpful, and have the most spacious and beautiful property. They went out of their way to make us feel at home and plugged our RV right into power (they offered water, too, but we had plenty on board). They loaned us their local hiking guide, took us on a beautiful hike to see the "Hole in the Wall" followed by ice cream at Coombs Country Candy, showed us the Mars Water Bombers (very cool!), and a hosted a relaxing evening around the fire pit with their lovely friends, and generally made us feel like family. We spent three nights, and much more than just a place to stay, we've made new friends. Thank you both, and Jasper (their awesome, friendly dog) for the hospitality. Your generosity of spirit is the epitome of Boondockers Welcome, and we're grateful for the opportunity to have met. Hope we get the chance to connect again, either the next time we're on Vancouver Island, or when you're on the road in your RV.
We loved the stay with this couple and got taken away by their dog Jasper. They are very friendly and helpful and made our stay very easy and relaxing. Enjoyed it!
We stayed at "Jaspers" for our 2nd Boondockers-Welcome-Experience, and it was the best we could wish.
They are so welcoming, helpful and lovely people. As barch50 mentioned below, they went above and beyond what should be expected of hosts. As you travel in your mobile home in an RV, it felt really home staying with them.
Thanks a lot for this great experience and especially for all the stuff provided.
We stayed at "Jasper's" en route to Tofino during the big Canadian Holiday weekend. They couldn't have been more lovely hosts. Their home has a beautiful property with a park like setting and an adorable beagle - Jasper, wild bunnies, neighboring horses that our kids loved. They were also extremely patient with our overtired kids upon our late arrival and met us at the neighboring Walmart to ensure we didn't get lost. Thank you for such a lovely experience.
We had the pleasure of being guests at Jasper's acreage in the Port Alberni area on June 3rd and 4th. They went above and beyond what should be expected of hosts to make us feel welcome. Having grown up in Port Alberni there knowledge of the local area was extensive. His uncanny instinct that I never turn down a bowl of ice cream and the subsequent conversation that ensued was most pleasurable, it seemed like we had been friends for years. They even have their dog Jasper trained to be a good host as he waited patiently at our RV steps to greet us each morning with his tail wagging. She even sent us on our way with a loaf of her homemade bread. We look forward to the opportunity to host them when they go on their cross country adventure, hopefully in the very near future.
Jasper has a great home, quiet location and nice flat area to park. They were very welcoming and helped us out with some email issues I needed to address. Thanks so much.
