We are a very private location set at the edge of a state forest in Chester, CT.
Bumpy gravel driveway with circular turnaround, but may need to back up a bit in a longer rig. No sharp curves or hills, but some low branches. We are accessible to delivery trucks up to 30'. Parking area may need some leveling.
We do not yet own a rig, so we are homebodies! Send a message for availability!
Located in the Connecticut River Valley with the Connecticut shoreline not far away. The Village of Chester is great for art and restaurants! Hiking right outside your rig in Cockaponset State Forest. There is lots to do and see in "our neck of the woods"!
The hosts were incredibly kind and generous and their ‘green acres’ provided the perfect place for us to relax and regroup during a weekend workshop nearby. We chatted with them last night and they actually helped us write our presentation for today’s seminar! What a wonderful couple! So grateful for having met them both.
We were happy to stay 2 nights at this lovely place in the woods. We had electric and water plus even a hot outdoor shower if we had had the courage in the cold! Plus, a nice stack of wood for a fire. Our host was the nicest!! Please go into Chester (nearby) and enjoy not only a quaint village next to a stream, but try Ottos pizza. Drive to Lyme and visit the Florence Griswald House and museum to see American Impressionism (nice collection) and enjoy a glimpse into an artist colony from 100 years ago. The grounds along the river are just beautiful and we were lucky to experience the Wee Fairy Village that they have just once a year. Stop in Essex and wander around. There’s a walking tour you can access online. Visit Gillette Castle and gardens (take the cute ferry across!!) We had to move on but could’ve spent more time hiking the area. We also happened upon a rummage sale at the church in Essex. What a find! Great buys. If you stay here maybe you’ll hear an owl and please do some stargazing.....
The location is absolutely lovely as are both of the hosts! I couldn't have had a nicer experience. The outdoor shower is to die for as it has both hot and cold water, the sounds of the surrounding woods are amazing, the parking spot is perfect, and the hosts could not have been more welcoming and kind. A "Positive" rating just doesn't cut it...Ponsetwoods is definitely a Positive Plus!!
We loved staying at Ponsetwoods; we were the first boondockers to stay at this location, and we were welcomed with open arms. We couldn't have wished for a better location; the owners offered wood to build a fire and helped us out in many ways, including offering some good advice for things to do in the area. Thanks guys, you made our little family very happy!
