Have you stayed at this host location?
Leave a reference for this hostDue to rural location, please plan on arriving before sundown. Site is one acre fenced, electric and water hookup available.
Good gravel roads.
Anywhere on fenced acre.
We are in Salome most of the winter from November thru March. Send us a message to see if we will be home.
Salome, close to Quartzsite, Alamo lake.
This was a great stay, super hosts, great place to go out and explore the desert by walking or with ATVs. This is a quiet and serene location. Thank you again for the great stay!
Wonderful hosts, very friendly, loved talking to them. Great quiet location with water and electric hook up. If you’re a pet owner this is the place for you, one acre fenced area for your fur baby to roam, just pick up after it. If your not a pet owner but like dogs you’ll love their three well behaved dogs. Would definitely stay again! Looking forward to our trip to the NW later this year and staying with them in La Pine OR.
Our stay with Cal n Judie was calm and relaxing. Very kind and gracious hosts. A special stay especially for dog people, since it is a wide safe enclosed space for dogs to roam and have some freedom.
Very kind hosts. They were helpful and friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The lot is large and the property is well kept. Their location is in the middle of a lot of great riding. And they have sweet doggo’s. We hope to see them again next year.
Cal and Judie’s was an amazing stay. Extremely friendly hosts with some of the sweetest dogs! Surrounded by mountains and trails, this was a beautiful place to spend a few nights!
Verizon - full bars LTE
T-mobile - 2-3 bars LTE
Our first Boondockers experience was with the best! She greeted us on the street so we pulled into the right spot. Flat and clean gravel space to park, with good water. Nice to have electric for coffee in the morning. Although we have no dogs, the area is fenced for dogs, and we got to meet the hosts' rescue border collies and throw sticks. We visited with a young couple also parked and enjoyed hearing of their travels. Perfect spot! Hope to return.
It was a pleasure to meet Cal and Judie. Friendly folk happy to share details about he area. Parking place was quiet and peaceful. Wonderful for star gazing. We had good Verizon reception.
Thank you, we hope to return one day.
Cal and Judie are so welcoming and accommodating. I have stayed with them prior and think the world of them. They are so generous and helpful to all of their guests. It's an honor to have met them. Their 3 dogs are delightful and so sweet. My dogs love being with them. The property is easy to find, good Verizon here and it's quiet and dark at night. Thank you Cal and Judie for being such gracious hosts!
What friendly hosts ! Thank you for letting me stay, even with my very own huge fenced in dog yard. Very quiet location, not a peep at night. Even had electric. Miles and miles of dog walking opportunities.
And they have such wonderful friendly dogs. I think i'll see them again (if they allow :)
We had a peaceful stay and enjoyed the beautiful sunset. Our host’s were very helpful and friendly. Great people and a great place to relax.
As usual, great to see these fantastic hosts!!
Enjoyed time talking with them, fun with their friendly dogs, a pleasant walk, tremendous sunsets, quail, rabbits and quiet! 🤗🏜🌞🌈
Met by C&J, spoke mostly with J who was a delight and gave a good orientation to what was in the area. Dogs were very sweet, a nice visit with them each day.
Parking area flat.
Hotspot with TMOBILE worked fairly well, 2-3 lines.
TV per antenna about 7-12 stations.
Nice setup, nice and quiet, nice people, nice dogs = a really nice stay! Thanks folks!
We had a wonderful stay on this property for an overnight. Hosts were very generous and helpful. We loved the view! Thank you so much!!
Another nice stay. Cal wasn’t around but Judie was a wonderful hostess. I hope to stay there again.
Had such a lovely stay at Cal n Judie’s Salome Home! Full hook ups, large gated area for the dogs to roam, plus plenty of room to talk nice long walks outside the property. Cal even helped me back my trailer into my spot cause I’m still very green. 💙
Cal n Judie met us when we arrived and led us to the site. Great site for dogs with large fenced in yard.
This spot was level, quiet, good signal and beautiful view. What more could one ask for? Great hosts of course. Very kind and very accommodating. They let me stay an extra 2 days so I could go to usps on my way out of town. I enjoyed my stay here and definitely recommend them as hosts. Only bummer was that I couldn’t give them hugs goodbye due to Covid 19. Oh well, I’m sure I’ll see them again.
A return visit for us, as we travel North. Their water is the best in this southwest part of Arizona! We much appreciate these wonderful hosts.
Cal & Judie's "winter home" is a wonderful quiet place wo road noise etc.
At night only a few sounds from nearby domestic & I suspect wild animals.
It is a mini campground w full hookups & a pair of friendly hosts that
truly go far out of their way to be hospital to their guests.
They are terrific BW Hosts that have even invited me to their summer home in the North.
The distant NW Mountains are amazing, especially at sunset.
Also, the nearby Salome Restaurant is a great location for breakfast &
I suspect other meals also. Suggestion, if you are hungry & enjoy ham,
get the breakfast Ham w bone-in w eggs, potatoes & toast. Wow! An Incredible feast.
Thank you Cal & Judie, you are both th best!
When I arrived Jodie and Cal were out there to guide me into the site. They had recently bought a site a couple of blocks away. There were two other RV's there. After I got parked and hooked up to power and water (wow! great tasting water!!) Jodie brought her three dog's over. Sadie and I went for a hike with Jodie through the fields to the west ending with a beautiful sunset.
I highly recommend this site if you have Verizon. I have AT&T and there was no connection at all except for 3G which allows for calling but no data, therefore no internet! I would have stayed an extra day if it wasn't for that.
Please note. They are selling the RV site so I don't know if they will be boondocking hosts afterward. Perhaps she will let us know.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! Off the beaten path, quiet, and very generous hosts. We would go out of our way to stay here again! Looking forward to stopping in at their Oregon home!
Wonderful place for us to rest and take time off. Our hosts were so gracious and kind. Thanks for tips on places to visit. We hope to see y’all around.
Cal & Judy are one of the nicest hosts you'll ever find. The full hook up, huge rv area. It's a place in the desert that we will always be sure to stop off at.
Couldn't ask for a better stay. Cal and Judies are just the most wonderful host's. Our dogs had such fun running around that 1 acre! Thank you sooo much!!
We had a great time with these folks. They are super friendly and helpful and I'm glad we had the chance to get to know them a little bit. Our girls loved being able to play with their dogs. Our youngest daughter even went with Judie for a morning walk with the dogs each morning we were there. They filled us up with fresh oranges and grapefruit as well. Full hookups and a huge fenced in lot was easy to maneuver...couldn't ask for anything more. Definitely recommend this spot if you are in the area. We will go out of our way to stay here again!
Our hosts directions and communication were great. (Be sure to follow directions) Perfect large level serviced sites with a nice sunset view. Hosts share their lovable dogs and extensive travel knowledge with us. We hope to host them sometime thanks so much!
We had a wonderful stay at Cal n Judie's place. Full hookups were great! Lots of room to move the rig in and out. Cal and Judie met us as we arrived and again when we left. Very nice hosts and very friendly, too. Would definitely recommend their place to anyone and won't hesitate to re-visit when we're in the area again. This was our first ever stay at a Boondockers Welcome host and if they are all as nice as Cal n Judie, we'll be members for a long time.
Thank you very much Cal n Judie!!!
We had a great time getting away from it all for a few days at Cal n Judie's Salome Home. Both hosts are super friendly and VERY accommodating! We had a great time catching up each morning (on the warm days) and appreciated the fresh-off-the-tree oranges and pink grapefruits, too!
Thank you Cal and Judie for your hospitality. Sorry we left a day early but it ended up being the safe thing to do!
Please hug your pups for us and thank them for being so sweet to our Sunny!
Hope to see you again some day in Oregon!
It was a real pleasure to spend a couple of days with Cal & Judie.
Nice quite location with a great view of the night sky.
Small gas station in town has the best pizza anywhere.
As others have mentioned we left with an armful of oranges. They also led the way in our plans to go to Quartzsite for the first time. Wonderful people we will be seeing again.
I had truck problems and was a day late for my 5 day stay. Judie and Cal were so understanding they still let me stay 5 days anyway. My dog had a great time here playing with the other dogs. Really sweet dogs. My dog saw here first horse and quail. I couldn’t of asked for nicer hosts. They were always ready to help. They had an area that my dog could finally have the room to run. Best stay I’ve ever had.
These 2 r friends of mine now! Love visiting with them and wonderful place to stay!!
Cal and Judie have a great spot with easy access and are great folks. Friendly helpful and knowledgable and generous.
I could only stay one night but gotta come back for more...
We sure enjoyed our stay. Got out our e-bikes, and there were many trails, to ride out on. Listening to gamble quail in the evenings, beautiful sunsets, and most kindly folks! We'll see you at the Quartzite RV rally!
Exceptionally friendly & helpful hosts! We stayed one night on our way to Texas, very peaceful & quiet, great nights sleep. Will definitely stay again when we’re in the area.
Great people, great location, great amenities = Excellent!! I made good friends in one day and plan to be back in January!
Every day was beautiful in this quaint little town. Our hosts were hospitable and had great stories to tell and good advice to give. My five-year-old really love their dogs and their dogs are really nice around my kids. My older boys got a kick out of the orange trees as we had never seen them before. We wish our hosts all the best and hope they enjoy their time in Arizona half as much as we enjoy ours.
We loved to spent time with our host. It was just for one night because we had a lot et Route to do... but I wish to come back again one time in my life.
Thank you so much again, we love you and we’ll never forget you. 🌸
Karine, Christophe, Anaëlle and Alice.
Cal and Judie are a very good people, they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They shared all their knowledge about living on the road. Mr. cal even help us park our rig and showed me a few tricks to make it easier for me to park.Very sweet people!
Cal and Judie are extremely nice and friendly. Being a novice at rving, they helped me along the way. Their property was perfect for me and enjoyed the quiet solitude. If you want to explore the area Cal and Judie can give you the scope on what's around Salome. I would stay there again and I hope to see them down the road.
We certainly did enjoy our stay with Cal and Judie. They are very nice people and were most accommodating during our stay. Their dogs are great and got along with our two like they had been longtime friends. The location is easy to find and get our 33 ft fifth wheel into and set up. Pretty quiet during the day and really quiet at night with a great dark sky after sundown. We would definitely ask to stay with them if we’re back in the area. When we mentioned we have older relatives living in La Pine, Oregon they were quick to insist if we’re ever there during the summer season that the welcome mat will be out.
Thanks Judie and Cal
Larry and Debby
Couldn't ask for nicer hosts! They have lots of room and made sure we had everything we might need. Perfect stopover if you're nearby.
Plenty of room for our 38 footer. Listen the her directions to get there because the roads could be treacherous if you don't. They will yak your ears off and send you away with oranges.... thanks Cal and Judy, oranges were fantastic....
We really appreciated this great site and our friendly hosts. Great water, level site, electricity, sewer and delicious oranges too! Thank you!
Cal n Judie welcomed us warmly and provided a wealth of information and hospitality. Gave us some great travel tips. Actually arrived on the 19th and stayed until the 20th. Thank you very much.
Wonderful hosts ! Be sure to pay attention to their directions.
We pulled in late afternoon and our hosts' were there to greet us! They have two friendly pups which we loved petting. They hooked us up with water, electricity, and sewer too! Judie had a suggestion for a great place to eat and she was right on target. It rained during the night and we slept soundly! They were so kind, and showed us their rig and home, and when we left they sent us off with oranges right off the tree. Can't say enough good things about our experience and we will definitely stop by to see them in Oregon!
Our hosts were more than kind to allow us to stay on their property with an amazing location surrounded by mountains. This was the perfect stop on our way to Joshua Tree National Park coming from Sedona. The spot is perfect with full hook ups and a beautiful view. Thank you so much !!!
Embarrassing moment: Although we were forewarned in the notes, email and our pre-arrival phone call, we went the wrong way and our RV got stuck on what we thought was the correct way. Again, this was our fault. If you get to a spot with a huge dip do not go there. Better to double and triple check. We were fortunate for a kind neighbor with a 4 wheel drive and our host to help us dig out of a potentially huge problem. Fortunately, all worked out. Juat a bit embarrassing!
You can not ask for better hosts. Very caring and great conversations. The site is excellent with fantastic views. My hosts went to extra mile for me to arrive at night and guided me in perfectly. Highly recommend and appreciate this great host couple. This a Dog lovers paradise. The site is fully enclosed and their two dogs are sweethearts.
Enjoyable place to stop..thank you for your kindness...hope to see you again next time...
Cal is a hoot and his wife is sweet. We love the fresh oranges that we were able to pick. We had full hookups which is rare on bdw! It was a nice rest after Quartzsite!
Cal and Judie's place in Salome, AZ is a fantastic stopping grounds with stunning views and great location. The services provided are such a blessing to have along the roads.
Most definately look them up!! Fantastic people!! Can't wait to cross paths and visit once again in the future.
Cal & Judie were the most amazing hosts! They are fun and very kind and generous. We have made life long friends and look forward to visiting with them again maybe even in La Pine, Or.
Great spot with beautiful sunsets. Our two night stay turned into six! Three other RVers shared the space with class A, B and C all represented. Enjoyed conversing with other guests - all full-timers. Cal and Judie were very friendly, having a bonfire one evening, inviting to join for dinner at a local Mexican restaurant another evening, and inviting us to their Escapee gathering at nearby Quartzsite. Thanks for the great hospitality, and we will definitely return if in the area again!
Cal & Judie are very generous with their space & providing full hook-ups. We enjoyed a very quiet place to stay for a couple of nights with views of the mountains. We enjoyed visiting with Cal and other Boondockers around the fire pit one evening. The dogs are very friendly and sweet.
If we're in the area again, we'll certainly be in touch. Thanks for everything!
I enjoyed my stay here, Cal and Judie were very hospitable, we had a nice chat about RVing and I got lots of attention from their 2 sweet dogs. They have a very large dirt yard and I had a nice level site with full hookups. They have good well water so I was able to fill up my water bottles, which was great as there’s not much in town. Upon leaving I couldn’t get my electric cord back in it’s slot and Cal came out and got it put away for me. I had good Verizon phone and internet service. Would definitely stay here again if I’m passing through.
We had a wonderful experience at Cal n Judies in Salome. Our pups enjoyed roaming the fenced property and visiting with their pups! Full hookups we're great! We'd definitely stay here again!
Cal and Judy were very hospitable hosts. They had full hook ups for us and Cal even helped us solve a problem on our motorhome. They picked a bag of fresh oranges from the neighbours tree for us before we left. Our small dog loved running around their spacious fenced yard and playing with their two dogs. We stayed for two nights and felt at home the whole time. No it’s not too stro we stayed for two nights and felt at home the whole time. Cal and Judy are very warm and kind people.
We booked a last minute stay with Cal & Judie and they were extremely accommodating. We arrived after dark which we try to never do, but Cal met us out on the main road and guided us in. They are extremely friendly and we enjoyed chatting with them in the morning before we left. We highly recommend a stay with Cal & Judie and will definitely request to stay with them again if we're in the area.
Our family was traveling through CA to TX and this was a great stopping point to catch a break in our travel schedule. Cal & Judie were so kind and gracious to us, as well as letting our boys ride their bikes on their property and play with their two dogs. Thank you, again, Cal & Judie - we hope to see you in Oregon sometime!
Such a easy place to land. Hosts so welcoming, friendly and easy going. Wonderful if your a dog lover. Also appreciated having hook ups. Great stop.
We loved both places that we have been - did not stay the full time in Salome due to illness but we do plan to visit again - awesome. Love this service - thanks, Tiny & Annie
Cal and Judie's kindness is off the charts! They helped us out in so many ways, including letting us know about a work camping job nearby, helping Randy fix a broken jack and so much more! We had fun playing bingo, got together for pizza and thoroughly enjoyed there company. Randy and I loved seeing the wild burros they told us about, one of them snorted at me when I got too close! We hope to see Cal and Judie again, maybe in Oregon.
Plenty of space in quiet area, full hookups, and friendly hosts.
Thank you for a wonderful stay. Really appreciated the services but especially your company. Give Missy and Clyde an extra hug for us. Pat & Ron.
We had a wonderful time at Cal& Judy's place! They are very gracious host's , and very knowledgeable about boondocking, including things to see and do in the area. They kindly gave us full hookup, and their large fenced lot was perfect for our dog Lassie to play with their friendly dogs. We highly recommend their place, and we had a great visit. We add them to our "Friends " list, and welcome them to visit us when they roam north! Ron & Elizabeth.
Cal and Judie were exceptionally generous in hosting us for a boondocking evening at their home outside Salome, AZ. We learned a great deal form them about Escapees, which they enjoy and participate in. Cal and Judie have two very friendly border collies. We spent time in the evening over a fire, looking at the mountains far away and exchanging stories. We worth a visit, and they also have a property in Oregon we intend to visit if we are in that area for the summer. Their property is set up to accommodate up to 3 boondockers at any one time. We will visit again in the future.
We were hosted by Cal and Judie, for one night at their home in La-Pine.
First experience with BoomCampers Welcome as guests.
We spent the evening with the welcoming couple, which gave us Lot's of good tips and advices, as experienced RV users.
Were invited to stay more nights, but had to continue.
Communication before and during hosting was good.
If you are travelling to Bend and/or Crater Lake area - highly recommending !
Hope to meet again in AZ.
Cal n Judie welcomed me to their place for the last night of my long trip from Texas to Madras for 2017 Eclipse. Pretty place, sweet dogs, enjoyed visiting with them. They have 30A hookup, so I was able to fully charge my battery before 5 days of boondocking at Solartown.
This might be a long recommendation. We stayed with Cal and Judie. They met us as we drove in, to open the gates and help us set up. Then we enjoyed the evening visiting with them in their beautiful home. We travel with a cat and a dog. Our cat has always stayed fairly close to camp so she is free to roam. As we started to leave Monday morning our cat was not to be found. We waited, searched and called for about six hours and still no cat. With a heavy heart we left for the coast. Thursday morning we are in Coos Bay and receive a call from Judie. Cal has spotted our cat. We immediately drove back to Cal and Judie's. Again they were outside waiting on us when we arrived at around 4 pm. But no sign of our cat. Again, this was Thursday. Cal and Judie told us to stay as long as we needed to look for our cat. Luckily our cat shows up at 11 that night. These folks where simply AWESOME all the way around. Before the missing cat, after the missing cat and after our cat returned. We can never thank them enough for their kindness and hospitality!!!!
Cal and Judie were so helpful and couldn't have been any nicer!!! We stayed 3 nights and will stay again when back in the area. They have very sweet dogs too! Our kids loved exploring and being free to play there also! Camped in a 39 foot 5th wheel.
We were made very welcome by Cal & Judie, very quiet locayion and only a few mile off the Hwy with good access and plenty of room to turn a big rig on the property. We were on a schedule so only able stay one night. Thanks guys for your hospitality.
These folks are truly awesome! They agreed to accept a package for us, an ordered placed after we left home, and communicated with us in our travels.
We arrived on a day the temps were near 90, helped us set up, and let us not only plug in but turn our a/c on to cool the rig off. Space and turning around is not a problem here. If you are looking for aquiet, peaceful location in the pines, wow, this is the place!
They have two rescues, a border collie and healer/border collie mix that are so well trained and friendly it is a delight to share time and the couch with them.
Don't pass by these young folks in your travels, they have lived such interesting lives, have traveled many miles, and have so much wisdom
and experience to share!
Catch them early if you can (we certainly will again!), because if you don't they will probably be off on their own adventures!
Really enjoyed getting to meet Cal and Judie.
Very gracious hosts who live on a gorgeous piece of property with a ton of room for the rig and tow car.
They even had a 30 amp outlet for us to use.
Easy in and out for parking.
This was our first time using Boondockers and we are "sold" on the program.
If they'll have us back, we will definitely stay here again.
Thanks.
These hosts were very welcoming and helpful, they have a great site with all the important things. They are friendly and gave us lots of good information about the area. Enjoyed the time we spent here!
Cal n Judie are with out a dought very gracious host.
We had a wonderful time there. Even let our dog run free in the yard.
It was nice to have a place to stay that was not near RR tracks or Hwy,s.
It was so quite !!!!!!!
Thanks
Cal n Judie.
My husband and I had an amazing time at Cal and Judie's place. Our dog loved the fenced in yard and the company of their two furbabies, Clyde and Missy. Clyde and our Sadie were inseparable during our time there. We were so excited about the full hook ups as that is hard find boondocking. Cal and Judie were so gracious and even let us pick oranges and grapefruit from there trees. We had such a good time that we ended up staying another night and met up with them at our next destination. Definitely recommend this oasis in the desert.
We spent 2 nights with Cal and Judie and their dogs, Clyde and Missy. They were welcoming and kind, we felt
At home instantly. We couldn't have had a better place to ride out a rain and wind storm. Their place is beautiful with distant views of the gorgeous mountain ranges, the inky black sky full of brilliant stars, and awesome cloud formations. Our dog is pouting as we drive away. She will certainly miss being able to just go out the door of our RV to play safely and vigorously with her two new friends on their fenced in acre lot. She slept like a log those two nights and will be dreaming of Clyde and Missy tonight I am sure. Cal and Judie could not have been more gracious and had it not been for our need to reach our next destination today, we would love to have taken them up on their offer to share Christmas dinner. We look forward to seeing them again for sure in AZ and in Oregon. What a great first boondocking experience!
Gated, super level, full hook-ups, Amazing Sunsets and even more amazing folks. Cal and Judie are FANTASTIC people and we very much enjoyed visiting with them. Their place is very cool and has inspired us to look into Salome more for ourself. :)
Thanks so much for your hospitality, hope to see you in Quartzsite and hopefully in Oregon too.
Happy Travels - Guy and Christa
We loved staying here. They were gracious and welcoming and we enjoyed talking with them. They made us feel like family. Their large fenced property that was ideal for our dogs. These are two enthusiastic RVers that welcome company. Thanks!
Though we only stayed one night, Cal and Judie were very gracious hosts. There site is nice and quiet and in the country. There two dogs were very friendly. My husband enjoyed seeing Cal's workshop and having a beer. Would highly recommend staying here!
We had a wonderful experience staying with Cal and Judie. They were extremely helpful and accommodating. They have a large property with a private dirt site tucked away in the back for our rig. Their property is within 45 minutes of Bend and a little over an hour from the beautiful Crater Lake. We loved the areas so much that we asked to extend our stay there by a few more days and they were more than happy to have us. It was a pleasure getting to know the two of them and their friendly pups. We will absolutely be visiting the area again and will be sure to reach out to them.
Our first boondockers welcome experience was so remarkably amazing we didn't want to leave. We made new friends in Cal and Judie and our dog Diesel made two new friends with Missy and Clyde. We camped in a 40' motorhome with 16' trailer and there was plenty of room in an incredibly scenic setting with access to every kind of recreation my heart could possibly desire. Hiking, road biking, mountain biking, 4-wheeling, fishing. Cal and Judie are wonderful people and wonderful hosts. Thank you for opening your beautiful property and giving us tips on the area. We enjoyed are stay immensely. Pardon the effusiveness but I can't say enough.
Wonderful hosts, that ended up being from the same part of the country we are from. Perfect private spot in the back of their property. Thank you so much for offering your place.
We were thrilled to make the acquaintance of Cal and Judie and to spend time at their place. We appreciated the fact that the location of the motor home was behind a large, totally fenced in area that allowed our dog to run around without being on a leash and enjoyed getting to know Cal and Judie. We would highly recommend their place for privacy, safety, and the ability to get know some great people.
Cal, Judie and their dogs were wonderful hosts! This was our first time using Boondocking and we were thrilled to visit with Cal, Judie and their dogs. They both provided us with great tips for RV'ING since this was our first big RV trip.
We couldn't be happier. Our first experience with Boondockers Welcome and it was magical. These two people should be given an award for hospitality and compassion. Should you be near this wonderful couple...contact them. If you're treated the way we were, you'll be very pleased.
This is a quiet country site. lovely spot to relax and rest up. Our host and hostess were outstanding!!! Cal helped us back in with awesome instructions. for non backers, he is patient and kind and informative with guiding us back thru the gate. WOW! it was a one time with no over corrections. Judy was sweet and kind and gave us all kinds of great information on what to see and where to go. Distances too, She even looked up our next stop. I would return in a heart beat.
It sounds corny but it really was an excellently convenient location from which to start exploring the area - (La Pine State Park, Newberry National Volcanic Monument, Paulina Lake and Peak, Obsidian Flow, Lava Cave, Lava Lands...) Cal and Judie have a lot of RV experience, lots of space to accommodate your RV on their easy-access circular driveway or side drive, and were very communicative, helpful and friendly. Thanks Guys, it's great that you're there! Dave R from California.
Nancy and I had a great time at their perfect setting. Thank you for your wonderful fellowship.
