I have a small modern house on 3 acres with views of the Sangre de Cristo mountains and Great Sand Dunes National Park. Wide open, yet very private, at an elevation of 7800 feet.
There's a large enclosed deck for those windy days.
When it's crazy hot and humid all over the country, it's 80 degrees here in the San Luis Valley. And of course, it's always dry. There are times during the spring and summer when tiny flies and mosquitos are a nuisance but, this depends on how much rain we get.
In addition to the mountains and sand dunes, there are several hot springs within an hour's drive. There are many religious centers here as well as granola hippie types. There's also an organic yak farm, organic grocery store, several small restaurants, music venue, etc. Google Crestone before planning a trip here. Town is 7 miles from my house.
The long flat San Luis valley sits at about 7600 feet elevation but is surrounded by mountains on both sides. There is 1.5 of flat graded dirt road leading to my house. Aside from some occasional washboard conditions, it's great.
Plenty of room for vehicle parking but, turning around is not easy. And backing down the long driveway is not fun with a trailer.
I am a traveling photographer / videographer and am currently on the road and UNABLE to HOST.
I will update this page when I am home and able to host.
