We stopped here on our way to Florida from the Beet Harvest. I had friends in Prior Lakr I met work camping 9 years ago in Texas . We were blessed to find a Boondockers Welcome host less than 10 miles from them. No one was home when we arrived but Jimfunk provided detailed instructions on where to park. We backed out 36' 5th wheel into the spot alongside the Pole Barn without too much trouble . The electricity was appreciated as the temps dropped into the 20s at night. Our dog met jimfunks 3 dogs and everyone got along We were blessed to have been their last guests of the season. Would definitely stay here again.
I'd highly recommend Funky Farm. Country atmosphere & country hospitality within a 1/2 hr of MN St Paul metro area. Hosts were welcoming, friendly & helpful. The property was pristine & quiet. Our grandsons especially appreciated the friendly dogs. Thanks, Jim & Christy, for sharing your piece of paradise.
We had a peaceful stay at Funky Farm. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating and allowed us to hook up to 20 amp electric service. Our nights were quiet and we slept great. Thank you very much!
We very much appreciated the hospitality of Jim and Christy. They went out of their way to welcome us and make sure we were comfortable on their beautiful land. The kids love the dogs and running around on the grass. They lead an inspiring life.
This family farm is really beautiful, we like it very much, and the night is very quiet. The host was very friendly to us and took care of parking our RV, connecting electricity and water, we are very grateful. I will visit again if I have the opportunity, thank you.
Jim and his wife welcomed us as we pulled in. They directed us where to park and plug into water and 15A power. They were busy with their farm chores, so we saw little of them over the next two days, but they were available to answer questions over text, and we got to play with their lovely dogs and chat with them, which was wonderful. Would highly recommend!
We stayed two nights at the Funky Farm. It was a great location for us to get into the city, plus great amenities and trails near by. We didn’t get a chance to visit with our hosts, but we were greeted by their cute dog! The parking spot is perfect and level which is always extra nice! Great property and great hosts.
Friendly host. We were able to have a nice visit with family who came down from MSP 20 minutes away. The weather didn’t cooperate for biking but a good location. For that too. Highly recommend!
Very appreciative for Funky farm letting us stay for 2 nights. Easy to park... pull through with 15 amps. Didn't get a chance to visit... maybe next time!
We completely enjoyed the quiet stay and great hospitality of our hosts. Their dogs gave our high energy mutt a great workout while we were here and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Kudos to our hosts and best wishes.
We have stayed at Funky Farm multiple times. It is convenient to Minneapolis. The hosts have always made us feel welcome and have been very accommodating.
We have Stayed with the Funk’s multiple times. Each time we have been made to feel very welcome.
The parking is convenient and there is a large area for our dogs to run.
Although the hosts were out of town, there son greeted us. Parking spot was crushed rock and level. Did not need to plug in but it was available. Very easy to back in. They live in a beautiful area. Will definitely stop her again if in the area!
What a wonderful place to stay! Even the dogs were friendly! Thanks so much for your hospitality!
Funky Farm is a little paradise off the beaten path. The spot beside the barn was lovely and the area is a joy to walk. We also walked around the glen in the moonlight, watching the stars and enjoying the quiet. The jimfunk is a wonderful host; we highly recommend Funky Farm!
Great place, easy to get to, nice level place with great hookups and peaceful atmosphere! Thanks for a great stay!
The Funks have a gorgeous property with plenty of space even for a large RV. They went out of their way to get out a long hose to fill our water tank and we had easy access to 15amp electric. They were so welcoming to our kids and their dogs are very friendly. There was a huge grassy area next to where we parked and our kids had a blast running around the farm. We would highly recommend this place to get out of the hustle and bustle and enjoy the peace this farm offers!
I felt welcomed and safe at the Funky farm. The hosts were friendly and helpful. I am very grateful to them considering we are in the middle of a pandemic.
DUKE and I stayed here for a few days and boy did we love it, especially my dog who got to meet so many other friends to play fetch with. Their 3 dogs are super friendly and the hosts were just as kind. Just a little less hairy. Haha A must stay if you’re in the area. Thank you so much guys!
We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay! The hosts are so kind and hospitable. They live in a wonderful neighborhood, and a great location. We went on a nice bike ride in a nearby park, and it was easy to get to Minneapolis and St Paul to sightsee. We would absolutely stay again. The kids and dogs had a blast with their dogs and running around in their beautiful yard. Thank you so much for having us :)
This was a gorgeous place to stay, easy to find and the host extremely welcoming. Jim went out of his way to make sure everything was perfect! Would defineitely stay there again.
Welcoming down to earth hosts that will greet you with a hug, along with there well behaved dogs. Home is located in the countryside with a lovely flower garden. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you folks again.
We were extremely happy with our stay. If you like good hospitality, friendly dogs and a quiet, safe area, this is the perfect place. Our hosts were very polite and accommodating. Prior Lake is a very quiet area about 30 minutes south of Minneapolis. What's nice is that the campsite is far enough away from the house that we never felt like we were intruding on their space. And if you like to wake up to friendly dogs at your doorstep, then you will love this place. Thank you both very much for your hospitality and friendship.
Great hosts, accommodating us even though they had a loss in the family. Wonderful peaceful surroundings!
Convenient location close to the interstate, easy in and out. Quiet place for a safe layover while traveling. Water hookup was unavailable ( broken waterline) yet the owner helped in getting water for our tank. We appreciated the entire experience. You won’t go wrong with staying here. Funky farm is friendly.
Our host was very friendly, energetic, and a great spirit. Very much enjoyed our stay. We slept great with the very quiet setting. Would definitely stay here again if in the Minneapolis area. Convenient location to highway for sightseeing attractions.
Jim and Christy were the most gracious hosts. They in invited us in, made us coffee, and introduced us to their sweet and friendly full sized dogs. The RV parking spot was easy to turn and back into and they welcomed us to plug in to their 15 amp electric to keep our batteries charged. It was cold while we were here, below freezing, but because we had the ability to keep our batteries full, our propane heater was able to keep up, and kept us nice and toasty. We stayed 4 days and enjoyed the quiet and safe neighborhood, never having to deal with any unruly characters. Thank you guys for having us.
Great time at Funky Farm last Sept 2018. Quiet yard, host was very helpful with an air compressor when a tire went low on the trailer and we ended up having to have it replaced before moving on. Thanks!
Unfortunately we did not get to spend time with them as we met up with some old friends unexpectedly, but they did offer to host us at their house to watch the game and they were very welcoming! Beautiful area, would recommend to anyone visiting the area!
Great spot from which to see Minneapolis. Dogs very friendly. We were gone most of the time and had little interaction with hosts. However, our brief time with the wife was very positive. Definitely recommend
Jim and Christy were exceptional hosts. Their 3 dogs are the most playful and loving dogs we have encountered. The property is majestic, nestled in a rural setting about 20-30 minutes form Minneapolis, MN. Jim and Christy generously invited us to join them for refreshments and to exchange stories about our respective experiences. We learned of a few caps and sites to stay at, and found them very thoughtful and big-hearted. We wholeheartedly recommend their property for someone coming through the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
I had a nice stay. They even invited me to share a meal with them. It was generally pretty quiet, but very hot the last couple of days I was there. Because of the heat and a pinched nerve in my neck, I didn't go out of the RV much.
We had a very nice stay and felt very welcome for our first Boondockers Welcome stay. Perfect location for our needs. We will look forward to staying there again if we need to.
We spent two days with Jim and Cristy, as well as their friend Daryl. While this was our first time staying with a BW host, I can’t imagine another stay being better! They have a wonderful spot to set up and do everything they can to make your stay as comfortable as possible. They even directed us to a local (free) dumping station as we left (it was a good one). Loved our stay here and hope to have them stay with us someday. Thanks again Jim and Cristy!
Although we weren't able to stay as long as we had hoped, we really enjoyed the time we did have here. This is a spacious property in a great neighborhood. We did have electric hook up and were able to fill our water tank. The kids had plenty of space to play and ride bikes. They really loved the friendly dogs! Our hosts were very kind and even gave us fresh eggs from their chickens!
We spent a day in nearby Bloomington and Minneapolis which is only about 20-30 minutes away.
There was also a dump station nearby which we found easily.
I really enjoyed my stay here. My dog, Harley, really had a fun time with there dogs.
The Funks were very accommodating. They responded within 24hr and the parking area was beautiful. Jim let us know where to park before we got there and where the hookup was for the 110 elect.
Very nice location. Easy access.
Jim and Christy are very nice.
Hannah enjoyed having someone to play with. We have barn envy. 🏣
Jimfunk, et al, were absolutely amazing and super accommodating. We drove into the area on a moments notice to buy a toad car for our RV. Despite a last minute request and our host being away, we were welcomed in and given every opportunity to be comfortable! If we weren’t traveling the nation so quickly, we gladly would have stayed longer, as we were offered. We love this family and hope to see them again real soon!
Due to my stay being of a family emergency, there was a lot of uncertainties. I spoke with Jim on several occasions which were met with such care and understanding
We enjoyed our stay at Funky Farm. Our kiddos really liked the dogs and chickens, and so appreciated getting to ride your bike. It was very peaceful. Thank you.
Delightful caring kind folks. Thanks for sharing with me and a cuppa coffee Dogs are sweet the chickens are healthy and entertaining Marvelous spot or a good nights sleep God bless
2 beautiful people who are so generous with their time and thier home. From the moment we arrived we felt at home and they treated our children like their own. They have 3 awesome fur babies who are so social and would come visit every day we loved every minute.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us we are very blessed to have met you all.
Wow! We had such a great time at funkyfarm! They were the nicest people you will ever meet they even let us take a shower at their house (although I think you could smell the road on me lol). Just as all the reviews say you are always welcomed first by their cute dogs and given you a friendly welcome. We are pretty last minute with our requests but they let us stay no problem. We knocked on the door in the morning to say thank you and they let us in to have coffee.
Then before we left they prayed for us that our journey would be safe and successful and it was! Thank you so much for everything you did for us on the road and we hope we get to meet you guys again!

Despite our late arrival, Jimfunk was more than accommodating. We were welcomed the next morning by him and his two dogs. His place was perfect for our travel plans... and after returning home we made a wonderful pie from the apples he let us pick on his property!! Thanks Jimfunk, and we look forward to hosting you at some point :)
Jim and his wife are an excellent couple who were kind and generous to us in our short 2 day stay. Love their dogs too. Great location to visit the city from here. Nice quiet rural home. Thank you for sharing it with us!
We stayed on jimfunk's property in early September. We parked there for probably longer than they had wanted but they were extremely accommodating about our situation and very kind people.
Their property is quiet, serene, and not too far from the Minneapolis/St. Paul area if you like to explore urban life.
We have a dog that can sometimes be mean to other dogs but she absolutely loved their dogs and became fast friends with them, especially Regan who loved to come into our RV to take afternoon naps. ;)
We would highly recommend staying at their property if you are in the Twin Cities area.
We all enjoyed our stay with Jimfunk and his family immensely. They allowed our kids to free range all over their beautiful property and spent time talking and joking with them both, which our kids loved. Their dogs were an absolute joy too. They were such generous, genuine, lovely people and we will remember our stay with them always.
Thank you again guys. You are welcome in our little part of Australia any time.
We had a wonderful time staying with jimfunk recently at their home near Minneapolis. They were very generous, outgoing, and accommodating and were great fun to visit with.
The site was very accessible, flat, and level. While we did not require it, they had power and water available. Their attractive home is in a quiet, bucolic area outside the city, and we enjoyed the country view and a restful sleep.
I would very highly recommend jimfunk as a host if you are ever in the Twin Cities area.
Jim and his wife were not home at the time of my stay, but he was kind enough to accommodate us with short notice.
The sight is a farm like setting, but close to stores, restaurants etc... My dogs and cats loved the open space and I loved the quiet. There was room to turn my 36 ft. rig around and a level, gravel surface to park on.
Many thanks to the Funk Family
I stayed here for three nights. When I arrived I got greeted this couple and their 3 friendly, well behaved dogs.
There's plenty of space in their backyard next to a barn that hosts their company workshop. Jim right away allowed me to refill my water tank using their house water supply (non-chlorinated ground well-water) and hook up to the barn power supply (110V, probably 20A).
The workshop even had an air compressor that'd provide enough pressure for me to check the tires.
I planned on visiting the Mall of America and Minneapolis on a Saturday and Jim offered me to borrow their companies truck for driving up to the mall. While it certainly is no problem to go and park at the mall with an RV (north parking lot, next to Ikea, no overnight parking), it of course was much more convenient to take the pickup truck.
After exploring the Mall of America (where you could easily spend a whole day or longer), I took the light rail train up to downtown Minneapolis (1.75USD per ticket). It all worked like a charm.
So this really is a perfect base camp for visiting Minneapolis. I had an online order to do and Jim allowed me to ship it to his address so I could receive it while I was there.
Aside from having had a wonderful boondocking experience, I found new friends here. My home will always be open for them and I'm looking forward to meet Jim and his family again somewhere, sometime.
Our scheduled changed several times in the days leading up to our stay with Jim and Christy. Nevertheless they welcomed us and our two horses with open arms. The horses got to enjoy the grass around the garden and we got to enjoy a very level spot for the RV that included electric if we needed it.
Thanks Jim and Christy for all the hospitality. When we are back in the area, we would love to do it again.
It was our first experience with boondockers welcome and we were treated like royal guests.
We have such a positive experience from everything this amazing couple has to teach and offer.
Our gracious hosts provided a wonderful spot to boondock in Prior Lake, about 30min south of Minneapolis - definitely a highlight of our Minnesota trip! The dogs greeted us gleefully every morning and we were lucky to have lots of sunshine during our 3 day stay to recharge the batteries using our solar panels. There was plenty of space for our RV at this quiet location, and power and water are available if you need it, along with the peace and privacy of a rural environs. Christy and Jim - thank you for your hospitality, and the apples and corn...and use of your air compressor! Your sunflowers are magnificent!
The Funks were a pleasant couple and were accommodating. They didn't bother you and their place was very nice and open. My wife and I would recommend staying here if you needed a place near Minneapolis.
This was our first time using this website and I believe it was also Jim's first time as well. I couldn't be happier with the experience and we highly recommend him. A wonderful host and a great farm to Boondock on as well. We were just passing through so it was hard to plan a day in advance but he was very flexible and allowed us to hook up while they were out. They never bothered us and just stopped by in the morning to say hello and even offered to share a meal with us. Thanks again!
