It's 14 miles to downtown Blue Ridge, a town filled with antique stores, restaurants and a Railroad ride through the mountains to the next town along the river.
Ed and Ruth were wonderful hosts, I wish that I could have spent more time and am looking forward to returning. They live in the most beautiful part of the Northern GA mountains.
Great spot in the North Georgia Mountains, pretty easy to pull into and was able to back under the shelter for our stay. Saw a couple of deer around in the woods also. Recommend highly.
This place is beauty unmatched. In the beautiful mountains. Beautiful waterfuls and streams nearby with kayaking and giving just down the road. Hosts were very nice and I enjoyed their company. This was the perfect relaxation I needed. 5 stars !
Ed & Ruth’s Mountain Cabin
We pulled into our Blue Ridge, GA Boondockers site. Our hosts were still away traveling themselves but had really shown us hospitality by letting us know that the electricity and water were on and waiting. Our hosts asked that we sign the guest book and we obliged. We loved the nature that we saw and heard. So peaceful was this place in the mountains! We will gladly return!
Such a great location. The deer even came out to greet us!
This beautiful place in the mountains was nothing short of magnificent! Very peaceful & quiet at night & had my morning coffee with the local deer as my companions. Ed & Ruth are very welcoming & gracious hosts & I would love to stay with them again in the future. Much Gratitude to them.
This is our second stay at Ed-Ruth’s Mountain Cabin. So quiet and fun walking with the local whitetail!
Breakfast at Van Sandt’s around the corner can’t be beat!
With our hosts’ permission, we’re staying an extra night. Thank you to our hosts!
I get it, we write glowing remarks on all the host. But this couple was amazing! Went beyond, over and over again. Loved our stay, conversation, fellowship, information, etc. etc. And a beautiful peaceful sight as well. Thank you for our stay.
We were accepted for a 2 night stay. The drive was beautiful , but lots of curves, hills, and up and down. Directions were good. Met with owner and parked exactly where he guided us to park. Next morning we got a knock on our door and was asked to move. If we would have wanted to move we wouldn't have requested a 2 night stay. So we left; we decided to go grocery shopping and also decided not to return to this place due to the winding and climbing roads and loss of at least 2 miles per gal on our fuel economy.
Owner called about 4 hours later and said we didn't have to move after all. We told him we had already left and would not return. Don't think we would stay here again.
Simple, great communication. Level spot close to Blue ridge and many other quaint spots.
This is a great spot to spend a few days with wonderful hosts that make you feel very at home. I can’t wait to make my way back here one day!
This area is absolutely gorgeous with the rolling mountains and river. The hosts were great at responding and it was so nice of them to let our doggo run around. Lovely little plot of land and we enjoyed a stroll down their road to sight see.
We really enjoyed our time at Ed and Ruth’s. There was so much space and beautiful scenery all around us. We did have Verizon coverage, but it can be spotty at times.
Ed and Ruth are so sweet, we enjoyed chatting FB with them!
Had a quiet night in the woods. We were welcomed even though our guests were away. We hope to return one day!
The Hosts were very helpful and blessed me by extending my stay. I had a lovely time hiking the Appalachian trail and several other trails plus visiting the shops, meeting fun folks and enjoying the springtime in the mts. All within 30-40 min. Away. I'd do it again and suggest if it works in your timing to do so as well. Thank you hosts.
We enjoyed our stay in this lovely area. Our cat was so relaxed and happy wandering the woods and yard on leash! At night it is so quiet, we slept so well! A great place to stay!!
What a wonderfully quiet stay in the woods.
Thank you for hosting.
Ed-Ruth were very accommodating and although we didn't meet, communication was excellent. They truly have a wonderful place and we are very thankful for the hospitality!
Even though the hosts were away they allowed me to stay a few extra days so I could avoid the winter blizzard up north. Gravel road in in good shape. Steep driveway was no problem for my B RV. I recommend this BW host and hope to stop again. Good prompt communication. Enjoyed the 15w electric and the wooded yard to walk in.
We would like to thank Ed and Ruth for allowing us stay. They were great hosts and always maintained contact throughout our stay. The property was very private and wooded. We pulled our camper under the carport and still had plenty of room. There was a 110 outlet close by but we only used it once and just ran our generator. I would highly recommend this site to anyone and hope to be back in the spring.
Pretty spot in the Georgia mountains. We did not meet our hosts but they were very communicative.
This is located a bit off the beaten path but the Boondocking site is great. You can park under a high cover or park in the driveway. Winter is setting in at their location so outside water was off. We were told that prior to traveling to the location. Electric was available. The owners were out of town but told us to come any way. We only found a 15 amp outdoor plug but that was sufficient for us. We have a generator on board and used that when we wanted to microwave something. The location is in the mountains close to Amicaola State Park. Very pretty area and welcoming neighbors. Stayed only one night because of a forecasted storm coming the next night. This is a bit of a drive from I-75 over some 2 lane roads.
Beautiful place to stay for the night! Just as I pulled in eight deer came walking through your property! Thank you for the peaceful evening! God bless!
Ed & Ruth were great hosts. They responded quickly to our request. They suggested driving directions to their home Their place sits in the woods a half-hour from Blairsville, GA. Our three dogs enjoyed their walks on the dirt road in front of their house.
We had a wonderful stay on a beautiful piece of property. I wished that we would have been able to meet in person but in spite of that they were still graciously accommodating and went above and beyond expected. What a beautiful area to visit!
A great stay at a peaceful pleasant property even though our stay was a quick overnight.
Even with the hosts out of town we were easily accomodated
Beautiful place, great location to get out and explore, hike. Really enjoyed our stay here. Thank you!
My wife and I had a great long weekend in the woods! Can't say enough about how much we enjoy this location and hosts. Very friendly and accommodating people and location in the mountains.
I really ejoyed my stay in the mountains. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Great site in the woods. Highly recommend this boondocking!
Stayed for a few nights and this place is peaceful. Close to hiking and activities. You can't go wrong. Amazing place
This was my very first Boondockers Welcome experience and it was a great one. The hosts were not on site at the time but made my stay super enjoyable by providing excellent details for everything I needed to know. (They even put out an electric cable and water hose for me!) I felt very welcomed so it’s easy to highly recommend these hosts. The site is on a beautiful piece of land in the North Georgia mountains and is very peaceful and quiet. Thank you for such a wonderful stay! I hope I can return the favor sometime.
Close to many hiking trails.local attractions and location was well signed for boondockers.
Thank you very much
Very nice hosts. Provided us with information of things to do. And made sure that we were all set up. and had everything that we needed. Bad weather stopped us from much visiting. But great folks.
We endee up only staying for the night but we really appreciated it! Thanks for leaving the water on for us.
Loved the location with so many things to do within 30 minutes. Cute little downtown and lots of waterfalls nearby. Hosts were incredibly kind and we enjoyed several conversations. Definitely want to come back and explore this area more!
We stayed 2 nights with Ed-Ruth and look forward to more. They are friendly and welcoming folks who can offer conversation or allow you privacy as you desire. On our first evening, they invited us to enjoy a campfire and conversation. Mary is a turtle person and Ed-Ruth so Mary enjoyed looking over their turtles and sharing a love of those reptiles. I had more in common with their two fur babies. The drive was a bit tricky but if you walk it first and plan your attack, we drive a 20 footer and if you drive a 30'+ rig you might want to discuss parking with Ed-Ruth. Ed-Ruth has a 35' rig so it can be done if you know what you are doing.
This was a great stay, easily level for us and friendly folks enjoy yourselves!
Very nice place to stay. Lots of birds and a quiet place to stay. Will visit again when In the area.
Ed and Ruth kindly let us stay when they weren’t on site. The spot is flat, covered and very peaceful in a mountain setting! We loved exploring the cute local town of Blue Ridge and did two hiking trails to the south. Overall lovely spot and would recommend.
Would not advise this spot for a 35’ 5th wheel.
OMG the drive to this location is gorgeous however I would not attempt it unless you are very confident in the health of your fig’s drive system and breaks. There where miles of steep climbs,15 and 25 mph curves, then of course you go right back down. The one lane road up to their driveway (ab a 45 degree angle) does not afford much room for maneuvering to get backed in. With the help of the neighbor (hosts werent there) I got backed into the driveway.
Sense there is nowhere to turn around anywhere I had to back my 35’ 5er all the way to the paved road. Pretty sketchy.
The hosts were not there but did everything they could through their wonderful neighbor to make sure my stay was plesant and it truly is gorgesous in those hills.
Thanks for the spot guys and tell Jerry thanks again👍🎶🌸 I truly enjoyed my drive through the Blue Ridge Mts.
This was our first Boondockrs Welcome experience and it was woderful!!! Our hosts made us feel completely welcome. We had a great kayaking with Ed and enjoyed a nice meal and glass of wine after. Had great worship experience at their church Sunday morning with a side trip the Orchard and out to eat afterwards.
Hope they will come visit us someday!!
Ed and Ruth were just wonderful. I didn't end up needing any hook-ups even though I was offered. The evenings were cool and we got to sleep listening to the night sounds of the woods. My hosts were very helpful with getting me headed in the right direction to chase waterfalls. So many to see, I will just have to come back. A definite highlight was a tubing trip down the river with Ed. What fun! My last evening we enjoyed a glass of wine and conversation. Lovely people, lovely place.
What a gem. Ed and Ruth were such gracious host. We were welcomed to their lovely property in the trees for 5 nights!!! (we booked it for 3 and loved the area so much asked if we could stay a couple extra days.) We would never have known about Blue Ridge, GA., if not for Boondockers Welcome. Such a beautiful area with lots of fun stuff to do: tubing down the river, hiking to waterfalls, trees everywhere, and really tranquil. All of us, kids and dogs included, had a blast. Ed and Ruth couldn't have been nicer, felt like family. We had a wonderful dinner together and sat on their deck while it rained in the warm summer night. Parked in their RV driveway and slept with our windows open to the sound of crickets in the evening, birds in the morning. Lovely!!! If you get a chance to come here you won't be disappointed. Thank you Ed and Ruth. You guys are the best!!
My wife and I stayed at Ed and Ruth's Mountain home for 3 nights and we had a great experience! Ed and Ruth were not there at the time, but the driveway was level and we were even able to access some covered space for our rig! It was so quiet and beautiful, we were able to go hike on the Appalachian Trail and loved charming downtown Blue Ridge!
Even though we never met personally- we were very well taken care of! All amenities we obviously displayed and I New I was a call/text away from them providing me with any answers I might need. The location very quit and freeing... would highly recommend and hope to meet in person someday! Thanks so much for the stay!!
I contacted ED-RUTH about a couple nights in their boondock as I was passing from one adult child's home to the other. Ed and Ruth were very kind and patient, gave us information and suggested that we contact them closer to the actual dates involved. My husband is not comfortable with uncertainty or spontaneity, and his anxiety soared as our children had to reschedule and reschedule again our visits, and finally wound up cancelling us all together. But I still intended to have my vacation in the mountains, so I planned that we should go ahead and drive up to the mountains and messaged Ed and Ruth. He wasn't comfortable with waiting to hear back even a few hours, so I had to go ahead and make alternative arrangements. This is not Ed and Ruth's fault as they are very quick in answering their messages,
I am hoping that I'll get a chance to meet them down the road, as this will not be my last trip to the GA mountains!
We stayed at the location of "Ed-Ruth" and were amazed with the hospitality of the hosts. We are in a 25' class B and fit wonderfully on their level RV parking area next to their cabin. The location is just off the paved road but far enough into the forest for an abundance of privacy and quietness. The road continues upward and further into a forested cabin community that makes for a nice but strenuous hike if you so choose. We traveled through on the July 4th weekend and spent considerable time sharing RV stories with the hosts. We recommend this boondocking location any time. Thank you "Ed - Ruth" near Blue Ridge.
Ed & Ruth allowed me to stay on their beautiful wooded property in North Georgia. Gracious hosts. If they ever write to ask about a place to stay, feel comfortable in making them welcome at your place.
We stayed at their spot one night while on our way to Florida.
Very secluded and about an hour off the I75.
Nice place with roof over. ED-Ruth were not home but the water and electricity were turned on.
Ed and Ruth warmly welcomed us to their little corner of paradise.
We enjoyed hikes to waterfalls along the Appalachian and Benton MacKaye Trails and our time at their property was quiet and relaxing. We want to thank Ed and Ruth for their hospitality and advice on the local trails and attractions. We hope to meet up again in Florida next time.
