I live in Elkton Va just under the Blue Ridge Parkway. We are in a quiet neighborhood. I have a residential driveway available. I also have anther home at my shop in Louisa Va. It is much more rural . My son lives there. It is available by request. He is a great host but it is a shop environment.
Louisa location : My driveway is 600' long , single lane. I have RV friends in a lot with no problem.I do have a lot of tree limbs close to the drive , but no one seems to think it is a problem.
Elkton location: typical suburban neighborhood.
I'm here most all the time , except for occasional short trips
We stayed one night with Richard and Sharon. They could not have been more welcoming, gracious or helpful. I hope we get the chance to host them in the future!
Richard quickly responded, welcomed us to stay, and provided great directions after we submitted our request. I was looking forward to meeting Richard and his wife but unfortunately our situation changed and we had to cancel.
Rich and his wife, Sharon, were wonderful hosts! They sat down immediately to talk with me, get to know me, and offer whatever information I might need to enjoy the area (The Shenendoah Valley and Skyline drive). Their two terrier dogs were "beyond enthusiastic" about my little dog, Pi. Sharon and Rich made sure Pi was comfortable, too. (Thanks!) I was on a special diet, so we didn't share the same meal, but enjoyed a long conversation over dinner when I joined them, carrying my plate. Sharon is known for her delicious fruit pies..... Learning about their lives (Richard has done many interesting things in his life, currently learning to be a master woodworker and craftsman; Sharon was working on a project to create and package items to help women in Africa who needed basic things not available to them there), sharing thoughts on education, and having Rich run to the hardware store to find a magnet for my van, were all perks for staying in their driveway! Rich even backed my van in for me (in one of his "incarnations" he was a race car driver). It was lovely to go off for the day and come back to people who expressed interest in my experience and listened to my tales! The neighborhood felt incredibly safe and quiet. Early morning walks revealed friendly neighbors. Mountains were visible on both sides of my van. Not a place for a really big RV, for my 24 footer, it was "just right." Thanks, Rich and Sharon, for being the incredible and interesting people you are. It was a pleasure boondocking with you!
We enjoyed an overnight stop with Richard and Sharon. They were very friendly and welcoming, 'come on in and set down' folk. As we had a lot in common, there was plenty of conversation, resuming again in the morning. Would certainly recommend them as future hosts, or welcome them to our home.
Really enjoyed spending time with this delightful couple. R and C are extraordinary hosts and we'd love to have them visit us if they ever come our way.
Richard and his wife are great hosts. They made us feel like we were part of the family. She is a great cook,he knows a whole lot about boondocking we would be glad tohost them and would love to be their guests again.
Stayed here the day after Christmas and was warmly welcomed. Two of the friendliest people you'd ever want to meet. Spent an entertaining evening and learned a lot about the Shenandoah Valley. Richard is currently restoring a small trailer from the frame up. I'd surely like to see it when it's done. Perhaps they will grace us with a visit in it. We'd love to have them.
We stayed overnight on March 23rd, 2016 in our Roadtrek 190P. Quiet, pleasant and welcoming. Richard wasn't there but his son lives there and we parked near water and electricity. Barbecued for supper and had a pleasant evening. Would definitely stop again if near the area. Met Richard in the morning and was jovial, friendly, and welcoming.
I wasn't able to stay as I had hoped, but Richard kept in contact to ensure I could find his place. Very quiet and peaceful setting! Excellent host!
Richard was very helpful hosting us recently. He arranged for his son to get us situated as Richard was not at the house the night we stayed.
