We have lots of space on our 5 acres located in the Southern Blacks Hills of SD. We are on an old homestead about 12 miles from Hot Springs, 5 miles from Angostura Lake, about 45 minutes from Mt. Rushmore. We are doing a lot of renovations & dirt work outside so right now there is a lot of sand, not a lot of grass, but there's lots of space for RV's.

Access Road Conditions

We are on a dirt road, but easy access.

We are available from May - September. E-mail me to see if we can accommodate your visit to the Black Hills!

Good stop

We stayed here for a few nights. The ground is a bit sloped but it wasn't a big deal. The views around the winery are really great with lots of beautiful horse fields. The winery was cool to visit and we enjoyed their six sample flights quite a lot. Keeneland race track is near by and we had a lot of fun there. Also visited the distilleries. We never met our hosts, but the experience was a good one. Recommended stop.

More than accommodating

Laurie met us and our horses at the driveway and after we negotiated the tight fit through the driveway it was smooth sailing. Laurie had warned us about the bumper crop of sand burs they had this year and encouraged us to set up our horse corral on the only bit of green lawn still left after their landscaping project! The horses were in heaven! The spot for the RV was nice and level and not far from the horses. Laurie invited us in for some conversation, but we discovered some electrical issues with the coach that Dave had to try to fix. Thanks Laurie and family for a wonderful stay even though we didn't get to know you this time. Maybe next year?

Great boondocking spot for the night

Jon and Laurie were the best hosts. Providing us with a very pleasant place to spent the night. Folks like these are the best!

Great place to spend the weekend

Jon and Laurie made us feel right at home and like part of the family. The site was clean and level with good views. It was a great place to explore the Black Hills from and make new friends. Our son was thrilled to have the opportunity to see other kids and we all enjoyed our time there. Thanks again!

Great and interesting people

Jon & Laurie are great people and very interesting to talk to. Accommodations were everything we needed. Our only regret is we were short on time and had to get moving on our sightseeing and didn't have time to talk more.

Thumbs Up

Jon & Laurie are very cordial. We plugged into a 20amp for one night before going to Mt. Rushmore. We had a great conversation with Laurie about the experiences of adoptions the morning of our leaving. They are welcome at our Texas home anytime.

Great Hospitality!

Jon and Laurie are great hosts. They're surrounded by rolling fields and pastures, far enough from the tourism hustle that it's peaceful and quiet, but close enough to the destinations that draw you to the Black Hills area that it's an easy drive to visit. We felt welcome from the moment we met! It's a casual, comfortable, rural environment and our whole family loved it.

Thanks, Jon & Laurie

Only a little out of the way, and we sure were made to feel at home. You don't get to know an area or country without connecting with the people who live there. A little tour of the Black Hills we took turned into a big one and regrettably prevented more time and conversation with this wonderful South Dakota family.
