Boondocking available on our EXTRA long driveway. Max 30 feet. Update- we can no longer take tall 5th wheels due to cable lines getting snagged at the entrance to our drive. Smaller rigs can pull-thru. We prefer you do not use your loud generator due to neighbors close by. You can use our electricity/ water at $10 per night or use your quiet generator. Your friendly pet is welcome.
Quiet after 8pm / before 8am. $10/ night for water/electricity.
Regular neighborhood access road. You will enter on narrow driveway. Please know how to "back-it-in".
Tow vehicle parking next to rig or on street. Sorry, no tall 5th wheels, low cable lines at driveway.
We are traveling most of the summer 2020. Very limited availability til Oct 2020
Modesto is famous for being the birthplace of rockabilly music. You can find great food and live music to enjoy any night of the week downtown. Bicycle friendly area.
One hour to San Francisco Bay Area attractions. One hour to Yosemite and gold country mountain towns/wineries. 5 minutes from Highway 99. 20 minutes from Highway 5. Perfect stopover point on your way to/from San Diego, LA, SF, Oregon, Sierra Nevada, Burning Man or if you are making for either U.S. border running from the law.
We can provide you with a list of fun things to do while you enjoy Modesto.
Good to see Hawk & Nannette again....... Thanks for the guide in after dark....Have a great time camping on the coast next weekend you two.
They are pleasant, friendly hosts. They make water and electricity available ($10 per night). They make sure one of them is there to greet you upon arrival to assist with backing into and properly situating on, their long driveway. The site is on level concrete making it easy to set up. .
It is a great location for anyone attending a downtown conference. The Gallo Center for the Arts is about a mile and a half away.
My first time using Boondockers. Very grateful to have access to a/c while in town for a couple nights. Great location!
It was a good place to get refocused. I’m a type one diabetic and the day I arrived was not a good one for me. But even with two days of rain, with peace and quiet it was a good place to stop. I think my hosts sensed that and left me to gather my strength. Thank you guys.
In the backyard a warm welcome with cool beer. Very nice hosts. Even gave us a huge tray of eggs!
We had a great stay. felt like we were in a little bit of country in the yard yet right in Modesto. Good conversation and suggestions for music and food. Would definitely stay again.
Very enjoyable and needed stay.
Thank you so much! Especially for checking my roof with your ladder!! (That noise I had heard on the freeway freaked me out). Had a nice visit, sorry it was so short. It was so nice to just conk out after an intense drive on the 99 freeway.
Hawk and Nannette were a delight to meet and chat with! They are fun, laid back folks with similar interests so we got along great. They helped us out with suggestions for things to do in the area and gave us everything we needed to be comfortable.
Thank you guys for everything, wish we could have spent more time talking with you both!
We stayed at their place for one night while traveling through California. Nice place, within walking distance to a local Walmart Neighbourhood store. The driveway is relatively narrow, but we had no problems backing into it with our 26 ft trailer. Hawk was guiding us in and was very helpful
Wonderful hosts. They have a nice level spot off the street. We have stayed there twice and always appreciate their hospitality.
Hawk & Nanette were fun, friendly people to stay with. We appreciated their eclectic yard and Farmhouse style home and property, and would definitely stop again.
All the best you two.....happy camping on the coast.
Judy & David Hale
This is our 2nd time stop by and stay with H&N. As before, everything was perfect - we chatted like friends and spent some quality time together. What a great weekend getaway! Thank you so much for having us again! We will see you soon! :)
We had a great time spent hanging out with our hosts for the two nights we were here. Their little piece of Modesto is a unique and super cool space. Our hosts are very generous and friendly. Their rig (old school short bus) is awesome! We had great weather while here and enjoyed some much appreciated relaxation in their backyard. We hope to meet up with them in the near future and would definitely park our rig here again.
Our host was very friendly! Checkout Churchkey if you like burgers and beers. They are very close to downtown Modesto which makes it a great spot to get to everything. Their landscaping is so awesome and I wish we'd had more time to see their school bus.
We were fortunate to book and spend two nights with Hawk and Nannette on our way back to AZ. When we arrived, they showed us where was the spot we could spend the night. To our pleasant surprise, they even had outdoor bathroom/shower and dump station. The backyard was big and secure for my two dogs ran around without leash. What a great host! We will definitely stop by again when we travel along the central valley in the future! Thank you so much for your hospitality! Much appreciated! :)
Hawk and Nannette were so welcoming, and accommodating (especially given the heat of the day.)
Their yard is beautifully landscaped and decorated, which made for a relaxing evening of getting to know our hosts and the area.
Hopefully we'll be back in the area in late August for the start of the fruit season, and if we are, we would love to stay with Hawk and Nannette again.
Thanks for the awesome stay!
Such generous and cool hosts. We were lucky enough to arrive on the weekend when they had some free time, and gained a great weekend of stories, cooking, bicycling and much more. They even built a shower, toilet & dump especially for their boondocking guests! We couldn't be more grateful. Thank you so much for everything!
I really enjoyed meeting Hawk and Nannette. Their driveway is perfect for RVs.
We stayed with Hawk and Nannette for one night on our way back from Sequoia. They are a really kind and helpful couple. Really loved your schoolbus :) Happy building and travels with it and thanks a lot for everything!
Couldn't have found a nicer couple people than Hawk and Nannette to stay with on our maiden boondocking voyage. We really enjoyed hanging out with them and their friends, checking out their cool eclectic art, petting their pooches, and shooting the breeze.
Thank you both very much for being so gracious and for going way over and beyond to take care of us and keep our rig safe from those tree trimmers! lol
I stay one night in Hawk's and Nannnette's driveway. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting this very kind couple who helped me, along with some friends, back out of their driveway the next morning. I will always remember them as kind and understanding, especially vis-a-vis my limited RV skills. I heartily recommend them as hosts.
They have a great little spot there and are gracious welcoming hosts. I wish I could have hung out with them both more but with Hawk's recommendations for spots that I may like to photograph I was busy and away doing my thing. His tips were great and very fruitful for what I like to take photos of.
Would totally recommend them as a stop over spot and I hope to visit them again one day.
We were on our way to Yosemite, perfectly hospitable place for overnight thanks to hawk and nannette!
Hawk & Nannette were fabulous hosts. They graciously showed us around their town & even gave us an indispensable suggestion on where to go in the next city we were visiting & were able to connect us to their friends there where we also had an awesome time. Great people, wonderful cultural experience!
Thanks again for hosting us.
Many thanks to Hosts Hawk and Nannette for making it easy for us to stay with our 30ft fifth wheel in the side yard for a night early March 2015! It was very handy to stop overnight while we were making our long way home to northern California! They said we were their 10th, so clearly they've got a good track record. We contacted them before the start of our 7-week RV tour and they were willing and volunteered useful info, and were able to arrange our welcome just an hour in advance of our eventual arrival. Cool!
