We have recently retired from farming and we're establishing a brand new home a few hundred feet North of our present location. There will be lots going on once the weather warms. I will try to set up a spot to accomodate boondockers as quickly as possible but my priority will be our new house driveway and yard. A garden is planned too. You can request a stay to see if we are ready to host.
I do not like to find cigarette butts on the ground. Any time in the summer there may be farming activity going on. Spring, (May) fitting and planting, 3 times throughout summer, haying season, maybe round or square baler running, mid to late July wheat harvest with the combine. You're welcome to watch.
Well maintained gravel road less than 2 miles off pavement either direction. We are less than 6 miles from the Rosebush exit off US-127 and less than 6 miles from the Loomis exit off US-10. We are in nearly flat farm country. Last year the county graded our road moving shoulder dirt onto the road so it can get messy if we have heavy rains but 99% of the time it is just fine.
We have an additional driveway for my farm vehicles, tractors and such. plenty of places to un hitch.
This is an operating Farm and I have to be here a lot as time goes by in the summer. We are both retired from our career jobs but we have 4 daughters and 7 granddaughters scattered around Michigan. We also have 1 son and 3 grandsons that live near Casper Wyoming. We visit when we can so contact us about availability to accommodate your travel plans.
We are centrally located in the Middle of the Mitten so wherever you want to visit in Michigans Lower Penninsula this is a good jumping off spot. We are about 1 hour north of the Capital, Lansing, and 160 miles south of the Mackinaw Bridge to the Upper Penninsula.
Saginaw Bay is an hour East and Lake Michigan is a couple hours West and you can take a Ferry to Wisconsin from there.
Very quiet and peaceful. We only stayed here one night, but had a nice little conversation with our hosts
We only stayed for one night, but we packed it in! The hosts were so amazing. They were so patient with our boys and gave them so many farm experiences that we would’ve never been able to have. We not only got the farm experience, but we also explored the surrounding areas and had so much fun! We all were disappointed when we pulled away. When we’re back in the area, we will definitely visit again!
Had a nice visit at Rus And Judys Farm. Didn't get a chance to me Judy but Rus was a great host. Helped us get parked (which is a challenge at times with a big rig). His truck driving experience came in handy for us. The farm is quite and a friendly peaceful atmosphere. They are a hard working farm couple with experience with many different skills over the year's. Was enjoyable to hear some of the hobbies they enjoy.
Great hosts. Chatted about life and farm. My dog was happy to be off leash and run and play. Beautiful sunsets and acres of corn and beans... close to Pere Marquette Rail Trail...great cycling. Appreciated the plug in. Hope to see Rus and Judy again.
We enjoyed talking and reminiscing about the old farming equipment. Growing up we had that same old Ferguson tractor. Nice and quiet place to stay.
Rus and Judy were so friendly and welcoming. We definitely would stay here if coming back through Michigan in the future. They were so patient with our two kiddos asking TONS of questions about the farm and it was a real joy to be able to show our boys what a 'real farm' is like. We only stayed for the night, but would have enjoyed staying longer simply to get to know our hosts better.
thank you so much for your hospitality!
