We live in west Rockingham County between the small city of Harrisonburg and the West Virginia border. Because of this location we have outstanding views. Our two acres is surrounded on two sides by an Old Order Mennonite farm with a church and a school.
We live on a two lane paved road. There are rolling hills getting here. We have a gravel driveway that is straight until the house and then slopes downhill slightly. A smaller setup could park at the bottom. Anything longer will need to park on the straight part of the driveway.
Our home is on two acres. We garden and have a large lawn that we continue to plant trees on. There is a farm lane behind us that is great for walking.
No aggressive dogs. Our Feebe thinks every dog is her friend.
We live next to Old Order Mennonites as well as their church and school. Although the horse and buggy life is picturesque, our neighbors do not promote themselves and are not permitted to have their pictures taken. Thank you for respecting them.
As you can see from the photographs, there is a telephone pole right next to our turn in. We live on a two lane road that is not busy, but gets a fair amount of traffic. If it is snowing, you may want to know that there is a hill to go down and climb to get to our address.
If it is not muddy, you can back up in the yard instead of out the driveway.
We have a fairly long flat driveway. There are a couple of spaces for the tow vehicle depending on what works best for the guest.
Rockingham County is the breadbasket of Virginia and includes gorgeous farms as well as forests, hills and mountains. All of this is worth seeing!
Harrisonburg is a remarkable city in that we are almost 50 percent recent immigrants. This has brought amazing people and restaurants into our lives. Downtown has great local businesses. James Madison University, Eastern Mennonite University and Bridgewater College are all nearby.
We are very close to West Virginia, and to the East of us are the Blue Ridge Mountains. We are about 45 miles from the Skyline Drive. Our area of the county is fabulous for biking! Actually, our whole area has put lots of effort into promoting us as a bicycle friendly place to be!
