We're in a country setting but do have neighbors on both sides. We like to be respectful of our neighbors by keeping tidy and generally quiet (but a good evening gathering or yard party are certainly a thing!). We've got an 8yo who LOVES making new friends. Our property is 2 wooded acres you're welcome to roam, and our neighborhood is host to many interesting livestock you'll see on a nice stroll or bike ride - donkeys, emus, horses, sheep, goats, cows, giant tortoises, and more. We have peacocks on site. We also have exciting wildlife like deer, foxes, coyotes, bobcats, snakes, over 30 species of wild birds, and the rare mountain lion sighting (you're blessed if you ever get to see one!) Guests are welcome to use our grill and enjoy watching sunsets from our back porch. Suggested Local Attractions: We're within minutes of distilleries, wineries, breweries, and great BBQ. River activities in Austin, San Marcos, and New Braunfels are 25 - 45 minutes away. Area lakes are 45 minutes to an hour away in all directions. Artist and weaving attractions are 30 minutes away in Wimberley. There are beautiful Hill Country drives all around, and Central Texas music is strong. Also...tacos.

We're laid back, squeezed between the big city and the Hill Country Details: We're entrepreneurs/working professionals who prefer not to do so much working, and would rather travel our days away. We live on two raw Texas Hill Country acres in a quiet, tucked-away ranchette community with our young son, ancient pug, and peacocks. Nearby, visitors will find emus, ostriches, donkeys, horses, sheep, goats, longhorns, giant tortoises, chickens, and goodness knows what else. We used to homestead and teach about intensive community food production, but now we're content to just relax at home and watch the wildlife. Paige is an avid overlander (since before it had a name), and is devoted to fishing. Dale loves to relax and tinker and work on cars. And, little Lukas loves to make new friends. Down the road from our house you'll find the ever growing world of Central Texas distilleries, wineries, breweries, cideries, and, of course, Texas BBQ. Home Town: Hays, Texas, just south of Austin, is where we are when we're not on the road or at the river. Favorite Boondocking Locations: Mountains and rivers are some of our favorite places to go! And, we're starting to love visiting the coast. We also love places with interesting food culture. Skills or Expertise to Share: We're well versed in area attractions and can help you find your way and find interesting things to do when you're here. Both Dale and Paige are handy in all sorts of skills (a bit lacking in things related to troublshooting electrical issues), and we have many tools that guests are welcome to use if necessary. Woodworking, metalworking, mechanical repairs, tech and IT, map reading, route building, camping, sewing, cooking, fishing, drinking, you name it.

One of the very best hosts I've encountered in the several years I've been a HH/BW member. So nice, gracious and helpful. Great communication and a wonderful place/area to stay. Close to Austin but like another world as the unique neighborhood has nice homes on very large lots that gives gives you a sense of quiet seclusion from the busy metro just up the road. And Wonderful hosts! Thank you Paige, Lukas and Dale!

Our host let us know after we booked the dates they would be traveling and we were still welcome. They sent us photo directions for where to park and where hookups and backyard access were located. and invited us and our friends to enjoy their fire pit and wonderful property. so very nice, another excellent Boondockers Welcome experience.
