We are a small 3 acre hobby farm with many fun animals! Our house pets, a golden-doodle named Chloe and a cat named Cleo, help us "run the farm" and watch over our friendly little pony, several crazy goats and over 40 Chickens. In the spring, we tap our Maple trees to make yummy Maple Syrup and we also ready the garden beds and plant our gardens. Sometimes we get lucky and introduce new animals in the Springtime as well. Baby goats and baby chicks make everything exciting and new. Summer is always full of new projects, building barns, mending fences, and of course the animal chores; milking goats, feeding animals, bathing the pony and mucking stalls. Do I even need to mention how gorgeous the farm is in the Fall? With all of the Maple, and other trees surrounding our property, the beauty comes to it's peak in the fall months. Surrounding the nature on our farm is even more nature! We have deer, coyotes, thousands of squirrels, and so many different breeds of wild birds (drawn in my our many bird feeders) to see as well.
We don’t have any official designated or specific spots to park. Our home has an asphalt drive and ample grassy and shady areas to park for an overnight rest depending on the size of camper or rig. We will help decide the best spots depending on the time of year and the size of your rig!
We have a large fire pit that we often have evening fires in and overnight guests are welcome to sit outside at the fire. If you're interested in seeing the animals, or helping out around the farm, that may be available as well! You will find we are very willing to lend a hand. While we didn't "check the box" if you are running low on water, we are willing to top you off if need be! Don't be afraid to ask!
We do have a single 30amp/110v electric hookup, (behind our current travel trailer which is parked in a gravel parking spot near our house). We also have 15-20 amp service that could be used if its available. Electricity might not always be available but it never hurts to ask! We would love it if you need any hookups for water or electric that you request this option when you request a stay, verses just showing up and asking about it.
1. If your pet is extremely well behaved, you are more than welcome to let them run free! Our Golden-doodle runs free around the yard most days. We do ask that if you'd like to have your pet off leash that we both intentionally introduce our dogs to each other so they can meet each other under safe initial supervision. If your dog likes to bark at or chase animals we do request that you keep them on an extra short leash as we do have free range chickens running around. And lastly...please be sure to pickup after your pets.
2. Please - No smoking
3. We REALLY prefer that any request for hookups are made when you initially request a stay.
All roads are paved to our home. We have an asphalt driveway with ample amounts of sunny and shady areas. We are less than 2 miles off the highway.
We have 3 quiet and scenic acres and all overnight stays are easily parked on the grass around our property with plenty of room for a vehicle parked next to your rig.
The Michigan Capital is 15 minutes away if you've never seen it. They offer tours depending on the dates of your start. If you're in the mood for more animals and nature, Potter Park Zoo is very close, as well as Harris Nature Center. Just 8 minutes away is the Meridian Historical Village that hosts many reenactments and has cute shops and actives available. They also have Farmers Markets all Spring and Summer-Fall long! There are some great golf courses, tons of fabulous restaurants, and endless things to do within 20 minutes of Maple Darling Farm.
We had a great stay. The hosts were very welcoming and the farm is adorable! We would love to stay again.
We were met by the hosts as soon as we pulled in their driveway. Wide smiles welcoming us to their working farm. Conversation started immediately as if we had known them for years. Chatted so long we held them up from getting their chores done on time. The animals were abundant, especially chickens which my wife loved being around and talking to them, made her day. Their children were also very pleasant to be around and engage in conversation with. An experience as well was the dueling roosters, rather entertaining. Very easy in and out just a few miles off the highway made this even more pleasant. So if you ever get a chance you must visit Maple Darling Farm you will not be disappointed. Thanks for your great hospitality.
Brad and Alley couldn’t have been more welcoming!
It was a very quiet and relaxing night spent on their Farm!
We were the first guests at Maple darling farm. Our hosts were incredibly gracious. We had options on where to park with power supplied as needed. The chickens the goats and the pony created a refreshing atmosphere and our hosts and their children were wonderful people. Welcome to stay at our place anytime.
