Description

We are in a subdivision. You will park right next to our Motorhome on the driveway next to our house. We have 30 amp hookup and can fill your water tank but would prefer not hooking up to water. We are very near Ellsworth Air Force Base so you can enjoy the B-1s (soon to be B-21s) taking off day and night. We are very near 2 exits on Interstate 90.

House Rules

Access Road Conditions

Our home is right off the interstate in a quiet subdivision. We are an ideal location to stop over as you are headed east or west on I-90 very near the Black Hills. Ellsworth Air Force Base is right next to us so you may be greeted by the sound of freedom (B-1s) at odd hours of the day. We are also less than 10 minutes from Rapid City Regional Airport. Our driveway is relatively steep but we do back up our 32 feet long Class C motorhome up the driveway with no issues.

Tow Vehicle Parking Details

You can park in front of your RV on the cement, it is at an incline.

Fantastic Boondocking and the sound of FREEDOM tossed in!

Excellent location central to everything. Our host was fantastic and answered all of our questions and needs. Highly recommend and the B1 bomber take offs were truly enjoyed.

Kind hosts - quiet neighborhood

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Home of the B1s. Kind of sad we never saw (or heard) a B1. But what a wonderful family this is! And the location is great, near to Custer SP and Badlands NP.

The best of the best!

My current RV is my bicycle… I’m cycling from Portland, ME to Cannon Beach, OR. When I came through to Skytab B-1’s the temperature was 107F… rather than sleeping in my tent they plugged in their RV, turned on the AC/fridge and let me sleep in there… along with a nice shower. Above and beyond the expectations of a BW host and so very much appreciated.
TY so very much!
Cheers,
OC

Nice Stay

Skytab was very gracious and friendly. We had a good conversation about rving and traveling. It was nice to see a B1 bomber take off and fly over from the nearby Air Force base. We would definitely stay here again.

So Friendly!

This family is wonderfully friendly, with plenty of RV stories. I'd be pleased to stay here again, if they'll have me.

Convenient stop in the Rapid city area.

Host location is just minutes from I90 and Rapid City. Also they are within sight and sound of the air force base that is home to the B1 bomber and there's a great air museum just minutes away. Also close proximity to Mount Rushmore and Custer State park. We didn't get much time to talk but they seemed to be ready to take on the challenges of hosting boondockers. We were their 2nd quest and I'm sure they will have plenty of request. The area to park is next to their camper, level but narrow and up a small incline to get into it, backing skills are necessary. This is also only wide enough to fit 8' wide camper and have room to walk around. We were unable to extend our main slide out, but our camper is still able to get to everything with it in. Highly recommend this host but for smaller rigs without slides.

One night layover

Skytab was an awesome host. They were very responsive and helpful. They were both so friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed our night at their place and will definitely keep it in mind for future stays if we are in the area.
