We have a pretty good sized driveway that goes past the house where you can hook up to water and 30 amp.
If you drive further past the house, you can dry camp in the woods.
There is an area to turn around if not a big fifthwheel.
No donation expected if dry camping.
Right off a tared road and down a dirt driveway.
Plenty of space to unhook and to park tow car.
Our Summers are short and we do get a lot of friends with RVs that visit but check.
Many things to do in a popular tourist area.
Loved the woodsy area that was our front lawn! Host has a gnome home that our little gnome had his picture taken with😆 Had lots of time to get to know our pleasant host!!
M met us when we arrived, to show us where to find everything, then kindly, purposely left us to back in without a witness, he's so considerate and kind. He told us all the best spots and activities, always with interest, and his big, warm smile. If You're around in the summer on a Wednesday, go see the turtle races in Nisswa. You'll enjoy M and K's lovely spot in the woods.
A Spot in the Woods was such a lovely stop. We wish we had had more time to stay and explore the beautiful lakes. The host was gracious and kind and offered delightful conversation. The parking was level and easy - just a quick back-in (or you could turn around). The surroundings were so serene. We let our dog run and explore, enjoyed dinner outdoors in a lovely sitting area. What a perfect spot to spend a few days - or in our case - a quick overnight with electricity and water fill. Thank you papa56458 for having us! We hope to visit again next summer.
This spot is surrounded by tall trees with a huge level and graveled space for our RV. Water and electric hookups were convenient. Many activities in the area. Nesswa is a must see. Wish we could’ve stayed longer.
A spot in the woods was a fantastic location and I would highly recommend it. The hosts have extensive rv experience, were extremely helpful, and a pleasure to get to know.
Our second time here. Hosts are gracious and welcoming. Thank you both!
You've got the best of both worlds here: an absolute wonderful host and an area to be hooked up (if you want) but be so close to nature! Their large yard is so quaint with the cute gnomes house in the tree, large trees for shade, and outdoor seating. The host is very friendly with tons of local information for you. You will not regret this stay!
This woodsy spot is so very secluded feeling while being so close to fun, food, "pretty good" shopping, water access, and more. Hookups were available and convenient. The lovely hosts are welcoming, generous and a pleasure to chat with. Thanks again for letting us get to know you both! We will definitely hope to visit again if back through Brainerd.
The host was very helpful and had good directions to varfious places of interest. The parking spot was level and beautiful.
Mark and Kay could not be more kind, gracious, helpful, and informative hosts. We put this location up with the best of Boondockers! They were able to provide 30A power and water hookups (and shade in the middle of in unprecedented heat wave in early June. As life long residents of the area, they are more helpful than Google in directing us to the area’s treasures (and there are many). They offer a level, grass area that could fit virtually any size rig.
We were so thankful that w were welcomed the night of picking up our Scamp in Bakus MN. Mark was so generous in ‘tucking’ us in. Hope he and family will visit us in Virginia.
Even though my 3 night visit was cut short to one night, this is a host that I would love to return to. I would love to explore more of the local area. The host was super helpful in getting me backed in. There was another guest here as well. We all sat by the bonfire telling of our different experiences. If you're in the area, I'm sure you will have a wonderful experience at A Stay in the Woods.
We loved this place. Deer in the yard, beautiful yard, we might add. Easy access and close to Brainerd And Baxter towns for necessities.
We felt very safe there. Owners were on their own adventure, so we unfortunately didn’t get to meet them. They were generous enough to allow us to stay anyway. Thank you so much!
Mark and Kay were wonderful hosts, very personable and helpful. Mark greeted us and showed is where to park. We were concerned about parking on grass due to recent rain but it was firm. Thankful for the water and electric hookups and Mark was kind enough to loan us a 30 amp extension cord. The spot was beautiful with shade and grass with a lovely sitting area. Our dog loved walking the mowed trails. We enjoyed a campfire with our hosts and another camper while we were there. Close to shopping but feel you are out in the country. Would definitely stay here again.
Spent a night at A Spot in the Woods on my way out West. The place was easy to find and easy for my 32 foot motor home to maneuver in the driveway for the electric hook up (had a tank of fresh water on board so I did not hook up to water). The hosts were warm and inviting and were hospitable beyond my expectations. My only regret is that my travel schedule only allowed me a one night stay. I would have loved to stay longer at this special place and enjoyed the beautiful grounds and the Brainard area. If you’re around the area and need a place to stay, set your GPS to A Spot in the Woods.
This property is beautiful and quiet. We parked on the gravel driveway because rain had made the grass soft. The owner provided an electric hookup and water and we enjoyed chatting with him. We appreciated him wearing a mask while we talked.
Mark went out of his way to be attentive to my needs! His property is very woody & peaceful with entertainment provided by wildlife. Ernie’s was recommended for eats and boy was Mark right about how super it is! Thanks a bunch my friend!
A Spot in the Woods is an immaculate spot. Papa56468 made every effort to make our stay so pleasant. He’s selected the perfect shaded area to park. He offered for us to enjoy some outdoor seating which we partook. We are appreciative of his allowing us their 30 amp electric. Also gave us great ideas to see this lovely area. We are rested and ready to continue our journey. Thanks so much!!!
Our host was so helpful and accommodating. There was plenty of room for us and we enjoyed a walk around the property. My children enjoyed hearing about the gnome and his garden that also lives on the property.
We enjoyed our visit to "A Spot in the Woods." After we set up and had our supper, we had the opportunity to visit with our hosts for a while on their front porch. It was a very enjoyable conversation about multiple topics. It seems we both travel to some of the same locations, so perhaps our paths will cross out on the road.
Thank you for hosting.

Mark and kay where great hosts , I want to thank mark for his assistance on a issue i had, we did get to check out their gidt shop in Nisswa . All around good stay
Mark made sure he was there to welcome us, to show us where to park and where all the hookups were. We had a very nice introduction and then we were allowed to set up and feel at home without interruptions. We really appreciated that after a long day on the road, We would have liked to spend more time and meet Kay, but it wasn’t in the cards. All the more reason to return!
There is a lot of wooded land with trails to walk on the property. Hosts were considerate and friendly. I had a great visit. :) The dates were actually the 21st thru the 23rd of October. The site doesn't let you adjust them unless you cancel the request and start over. We talked prior to my visit so there were no surprises.
Mark was very nice and knowledgeable about the entire area. He has a wonderful place to park among the trees and Greenery. Such a nice quiet night. Thank you so much for your hospitality.
Wonderful location on a beautiful lake and creek property. We had a perfect stay, our only regret was not being able to meet both hosts.
Beautiful lake location. A very friendly and hospitable couple who took pity on me and allowed my dog and I to spend the night in their RV instead of the small tent I had to use. September can be cold in Minnesota!
