We have six acres of partly forested land with incredible views of the Bitterroot Mountains. It is only a quarter mile from a main road, but it is quiet and feels very secluded. There is plenty of open space to enjoy picnics and campfires and you are free to let the kids and dogs run around and play. (The yard is not fenced, so please don't let pets off-leash if they are prone to running off, and please scoop the poop, of course.) Set out your chairs, sip a favorite beverage, and enjoy our glorious sunsets! We would love to share some campfire time to get to know you, or we can leave you alone, whichever you prefer. Also, there are several Bitterroot River swimming and fishing areas close by and we can recommend numerous scenic hikes nearby that work well for either an after-dinner stroll or an all-day adventure.
NOTE: Our 15 amp electrical is not completely reliable. A circuit could pop and it may cut out on you occasionally. No guarantees.
- No generators 10 PM - 7 AM
- Clean up after your pets
- No smoking outdoors on property
- No drugs or loud parties
We are located on a dirt road that often has potholes, but is always passable. The road does have one hill that is short but a little steep, so make sure you have a strong pulling rig for your trailer. Our property is designed for big rig pull-through and easy turnaround. We have a large fifth wheel ourselves and can come and go with ease.
We have lots of open space and parking options.
- Bitterroot River swimming and fishing
- Many local hiking trails
- Lake Como (1 hr. away)
- The Route of the Hiawatha bike trail (2 hrs. away)
- Lolo Hot Springs (40 min. away)
The hosts are extremely friendly. We loved our campfire with them and getting to know them. Beautiful property and great location for outdoor activities. Best of luck on your travels! Thanks for a great stay.
Nice property, lots of room. Very nice hosts. We stayed three nights. Hope to meet up with them again in our future travels.
Where do we begin. A beautiful, sprawling property. Ample space to feel secluded and yet, not alone. Our hosts were fabulous. They are very attentive without being invasive. We so appreciate the invite to sit and sip. And we are very fortunate to have been there while they dropped the fire threat to "moderate".... The first pit fire they've had all summer and it made the wine and conversation that much more inviting. These hosts claim to be "just getting started with the Boondocker's community, but they seem like naturals in this new culture of RV enthusiasts. Great hospitality, a wealth of local information and beautiful scenery await you at The Crooked Pine Camp.
P.S. We hope your Dad is barreling through and recovering well.
Great location and wonderful hosts. We will do it again! Thanks
Crooked Pine Campground is a true gem! Sherry was immediately accommodating as soon as we arrived on their property. The spot was very easy to park into, and the view was absolutely beautiful. Knowing our love of history, Sherry recommended we explore nearby Traveler’s Rest, which we had no idea was in the area! (Thank you, Sherry!).
Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer to spend some time with both Sherry and Andy! Next time. :)
Beautiful property! Host was very helpful and kind. Thanks for having us!
The smoke cleared and the sun came out for a beautiful stay at Crooked Pines. A big thank you to The Chids for a wonderful time.
We loved out stay at Camp Crooked Pine! We had always wanted to explore the Bitterroot area and these wonderful hosts opened up there great property to us with plenty of suggestions upon arrival. We had a small gathering one evening and it was a lot of fun conversations. We will hopefully be able to visit again sometime in the future. What a beautiful gem of a place but even better hosts. Thanks again! Safe travels to you both. Cheers!
Pleasant level site on a quiet road. We enjoyed visiting with our host and enjoyed hearing of their boondocking plans and techniques..
We enjoyed our stay very much. A beautiful location. The temperature was nice and cool so we were able to leave the windows open. Very Quiet.
We enjoyed our stay with this kind couple. It was a peaceful stay under the pines. Beautiful spot.
It was such a pleasure to stay at The_Chids! We really enjoyed getting to know them. The boondocking spot is also amazing! A large lawn and beautiful views of the Bitterroot Mountains. The_Chids are even kind enough to have prepared a box of resources for guests to get to know the area.
This is a wonderful location and The Chids made it even more special. A goodie box with all kinds of information about the area was so helpful. Our site was soo nice, we could be outside in the evenings under the pines. We so enjoyed these folks, we now have another set of new friends. So welcoming! Another BW winner!!
This is such a great place. Quiet and private. The hosts are amazing. My kids had and incredible experience getting to know and learn from them. They were so kind to the kids. Thw surrounding area is beautiful and an outdoors people paradise
Sherry and Andy are very welcoming hosts We arrived during one of extreme hot spells. So sitting around and chatting in the evenings was not possible. But we were still able to get to know them a bit. Sure hope our paths cross again
Despite being in the middle of a move our hosts graciously allowed us to stay on their lovely property which provided a pull through a fire pit nestled in tall pines …a quiet respite!
Loved our stay here! The hosts were so welcoming and friendly! Enjoyed visiting and sharing stories and wine. Property is pretty level and BEAUTIFUL!
Our second night stay was as good as the first. Hoping to see the Childs again someday.
Comfortable relaxing stay! Beautiful pine trees, shaded and spacious spot. Terrific hosts, they provided so much great info about the area and made us feel at home. Easy in and out with our 36ft 5th wheel.
The Child’s have an adventurous story and are delightful to visit with. The property is so very peaceful, it was just what we needed for our stay. We decided to extend our stay another day and will report on our suggested adventures. Their story and ours continues!
Amazing hosts and their property is beautiful! We were greeted right as we pulled up and there was a pack of information with brochures and their personal recommendations of places to see and restaurants to try. We loved talking with them about the area and hope to be back again someday!
The Chids are wonderful hosts. Suggestions on hiking, swimming and food are abundant. Bear Creek Trail was awesome! Thanks so much!
