What an awesome host! I was pleasantly surprised with the property, how nice it was and how convenient to downtown Hayward. Hoping to spend a little more time at the property on our next trip through as we had a busy weekend of activities planned.
We enjoyed our stay in HayWard. Very pleasant town. Our host gave us some exciting ideas about where our journeys should take us from here
...and it’s a shame we can’t post pictures as it is that beautiful. Watching the sunrise and the morning steam rise of the pond frames the beginning of the day. An afternoon stole around the grounds reveals an old barn, rusted antique gas pump, green fields with wildflowers and the neighbor’s dog wanting his tummy scratched.
D. was very accommodating, on short notice he allowed us to stay a second day. D. wasn’t available this weekend, but he had another family member meet us and get us situated.
The site is level, with water and electric. The WIFI was very fast with a strong signal even though we were the furthest from the home.
We are so grateful to D. and family for sharing their home with us. I truly hope our travels bring us in this direction again, to enjoy this site and have the opportunity to get to know D.
Our host has a lovely spot close to many amenities—bike shops, dining, etc. We were greeted upon arrival and given a well prepared sheet with all the info on the area. Very helpful! We had a delicious dinner at a local winery & BBQ spot on his recommendation. He graciously provided electricity and even a 30 amp extension cord for us to use. The early fall weather was perfect! We enjoyed our conversations with our host, and hope to return someday to ride some gravel in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National forest.
A very positive stay at Smith Farm. Host was gracious with a map of hiking trails, restaurants, and even a 30amp extension cord for power. Perfectly flat place to park, convenient to everything you may need to stock up on. As always, so thankful for Boondockers Hosts.
I stayed several days at the SmithFarm and really felt safe and welcome. Parking and offered services were perfect, especially on the hot afternoons that week. I met members of the family and enjoyed several bicycle rides in the area on trails and a swim in Lake Hayward. I recommend this host and the area of Hayward as a great place to experience small town hospitality, I will look forward to my next opportunity to visit them again.
Dennis was very acomodating and courteus to us and our needs. He is very welcome to stay at the Woodsy Retreat when in the BRF area.
Host was very nice! Helped us get set up with electricity and water. Sat on a bench by the pond one evening abs enjoyed the geese and two fawns. Walked downtown into several cute stores and coffee shops.
SmithFarmNorthwoodsRetreat was truly a beautiful purposeful return of a farm to nature. Shaded level parking and offered hookups made a hot few days comfortable. There are acres of fields, paths, wildflowers and ponds to walk on. The host was helpful and responded quickly. My dog and I enjoyed our stay very much. Cycled several paths that passed right by the farm and even got to enjoy some neighborly company with a hike and swim at Lake Hayward. Pretty area - Hayward is a small town with lots of activity. Hope you get a chance to enjoy this host's hospitality sometime too!;
Gracious host with a perfect spot to camp ! Beautiful grounds and close to town .
D was so kind, he even had local brochures and maps ready for us when we arrived! He told us all about things to do in the local area, and we did well following his advice. Such a nice town, and lots to do, you'll enjoy this spot.
What a great stay. Terrific host, eager to go out of his way to make sure you have a wonderful stay. Close to town with many restaurants and points of interest. Our stay coincided with the Lumberjack World Championships and was the perfect location for us, being about a 5 minutes away.
"D" was incredibly gracious and accommodating. He is a native of Hayward and a wealth of information and smiles. River access, bicycle paths and 'downtown' are right outside your RV and his place is beautiful. Great area in the morning for walking around an old golf course. I can't wait to return to the Northwoods!!
The farm is close to town and the host is a super nice guy. Very informative about the local area. Which have a lot to offer . Saw a great lumberjack show. Many trails for biking and hiking. A trail around the farm for a very nice walk. First Boondockers Welcome stay for us. It was super nice . Thank you so much . It was extra nice to have found the bench.
Although we only stayed one night, our host could not have been more helpful and attentive. His property is absolutely beautiful, and close to town, with many things to do to keep yourselves occupied. We had a wonderful conversation and so enjoyed hearing about the history of the farm and his family.I only wish we could’ve stayed longer! Highly recommended!
We had a nice level lot to park on and the host helped us get set up. He then went on to give us recommendations about what to do in the area and told us some history of his house which was very interesting. Would love to stay again.
We had such a great stay here. Not only is the location beautiful and close to everything, it is easily the best equipped spot we've stay at yet. Really left nothing to be desired. Better yet, the host himself is welcoming, generous, and as a native to the area is a wealth of information on what to see and do in the area. Highly recommend staying here if it's available.
