We have a very large, fenced yard, with a 16' gate for easy in and out, access to electricity (and water, with a very long hose). We are located in Eastern North Carolina near Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, about an hour North of Wilmington, NC and two hours South East of Raleigh, NC - within 30 minutes of several public beaches, and many other attractions and activities. Our Zip Code is 28574 (although 28540 is closer than the center of the 28574 area) - Our older dog is a bit skittish around other dogs (she loves people, she's just not comfortable with outgoing dogs, so that would be a consideration). Other than that, we are warm, welcoming, easygoing folks who would be happy to welcome travelers. House Rules

Prefer that dogs are not loose in the yard at the same time as ours. Just need to coordinate a bit, since our older dog is fearful of dogs she doesn’t know.

Location

Access Road Conditions: All roads are paved, parking is on grass in a fenced yard. Snow is extremely rare (once every few years), so year-round camping is not a problem. We live in an older neighborhood, outside of town limits. It is definitely not fancy, with a mix of homes and mobile homes, but, we are great friends with all of our neighbors and it is a very safe place to stay. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: Plenty of room inside the yard for an extra vehicle or trailer. Plenty of street parking too.

Retired Marine Corps couple looking to visit family, old friends and new friends Details: We are a youngish (early 50's) couple retired from the Marine Corps and now, more or less, permanently located in Eastern North Carolina (near Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base). We both work full time, but enjoy traveling on vacation. We have one Grandchild and decided to purchase an RV so we could make the 18+ hour drive to upstate New York more often, taking the comfort of home with us. Due to our military travels, we have family and friends in almost every other state, and hope to begin using our RV as our main source of travel. We are sort of new to the ins and outs of travel by RV and appreciate any and all tips, cautions, or other information. Home Town: Our ‘home towns’ are San Francisco, CA and Springfield, MA Home now is Richlands, NC Favorite Boondocking Locations: Travel plans include Massachusetts, upstate New York, Colorado and will expand from there... We are fairly new, so don't have a lot of experience, but are very willing to offer up our yard as a boondocking site... We have plenty of room, a 16 foot gate, into our yard, access to electricity and water, and friendly pets, including dogs, cats and pygmy goats.

Nana and Papa G treated me like family. They have a very nice place to camp and relax. I really enjoyed my stay with them and I highly recommend them for a stay.

We enjoyed hearing about their volunteer activities. The time we spent talking with them was the best part of our stay. The site was level and the neighborhood was quiet. A great place to spend some time.

We had a great time visiting with Nana & Papa for 2 nights. Very pleasant and welcoming, it was a pleasure to meet them both and all their pets too. The street is a quiet dead end and where everyone watches out for each other. The dogs are friendly and well behaved with visitors.

I stayed with Nana and Papa G back in March, although I am just writing up this recommendation four months later. Nana and Papa were wonderful hosts. Being a solo traveler, I spend far too much time alone, so I welcomed their invitation to visit with them in their home after I set up and settled in. They made me feel very welcome and comfortable and we had a wonderful evening together. If I am ever in their area again, I will definitely look them up.

Nana & Papa were such great hosts. They treated us like family and did everything possible to make us feel at home. They included us in activities that they did and Papa took us on a tour of his work place. We had such a great time and hope that we will be friends for many years to come. It is not possible to thank them enough for everything they did for us. We would be more than happy to be able to go there again and spend time with them and hope that they will visit us sometime soon. We would recommend them as hosts to anyone.
