Since 1881 very graciously accepted our late hour request to stay and we were very grateful they did. Super nice host with a very private, flat place to park, surrounded by beautiful scenery. We really enjoyed our brief visit with out host and would happily host them at our home if they ever venture over our way. Thank you Since 1881!
Dale & Dzve greeted us warmly and have a full setup away from thd road with lots of space... Dave spoiled me with a ride in his restored Model "A"... a really special treat... we finished off with some wonderful convrrsation around a campfire... a wonderful time overall...
A short drive to Port Elgin, but far enough away to relax. We were tucked in safely behind the barn, far enough away from the road that it was peaceful, private and a beautiful night for watching the stars.
The spot was easy to get into, level and services nicely set up.
The hosts were welcoming and respectful of space.
Thanks for a great night!
Dave and Dale were awesome! They waited up for us the first night so we could find the place, which was so kind. Chatted to Dave a bit by the fire the second night we were there. Place was spacious and very pretty. Town is really close by which is also a plus. Overall excellent stay.
Such kind hosts!
Very well set up! Extremely relaxing environment. Setting allowed for nice hike into the woods.
Wonderful time meeting 4 other guests.
Thank you for an excellent stay!
We have just arrived home from our stay with Dave and Dale at Since 1881, and can't think of enough compliments. Their farm location was beautiful, large and grassy. There were two other RVs there, but so much free space between them, plenty of room for more! Dave helped us get situated, and Dale filled us in on places we'd like to visit while there. They were always available for advice. The second night, they provided a huge bonfire where we all gathered until there was a fierce storm, when we all took shelter. We plan to return in the future. They are perfect hosts.
It was a pleasure to meet The Hosts upon our arrival. It was a beautiful property with lots of space to turn around. There was another nice couple there as well and we all shared a fire on Saturday night. The Host came down to see us off the next morning. What a great weekend.
We had an amazing stay and experience with this host!
Great tour of the sugar shack and a lot of great discussions. It was great we had almost similar trailers and we really appreciated the RV tips for keeping our trailer in good shape.
My wife and I also sincerely appreciate the hospitality.
Thank you again
The were awesome hosts on short notice. They have a nice setup with 30amp and water. The place used to be a mink farm but they have opened it up to Boondockers. I met the other couple traveling and they gave me some butter. Highly recommend.
What a nice experience. Our stay was enjoyable. We ended up knowing people in common. We had great conversations. Thank you so much « Since 1881 ».
Our hosts were very welcoming and fun to chat with. Our stay was very relaxing and peaceful. We hope to visit again if back in the area.
Excellent location with water and 30 amp service on a level grassy area . Scenic view behind barn. The hosts were very friendly and joined us for a campfire and adventure stories and history of the area. Th
anks for a pleasurable time....5 stars!!
We are new to boondocking and as a first stop at Dave and Dale’s we were spoiled. The setting was perfect , a wide open, flat area to park, a well stocked fire pit and lots of stories. We came and went for the 2 days spent there and the proximity to town was perfect.
We will definitely return as we fell in love with the area.
A five star rating for sure!
Wow wow wow, just when you think Boondockers hosts can’t get any better you meet Dave and Dale. Upon arrival Dave met us to show us to the parking spot. Such a great spot to park nice and level and they even has water and hydro available. Dave gave us some great tips on where to get a good meal and where to park or vehicle to get to MacGregor provincial park. To top of our experience Dave even picked up Steve in his old Model A Tudor to give Steve a lift back to our truck after we spent some time kayaking the Saugeen. It was really hard to leave it felt like being home. Thanks again for sharing your spot with us we do hope to be back.
We did some touring around the area, visiting towns, beaches and country roads.....but the best part of our stay was:
a. The location, the wide open space and the services offered....more than that though was...
b. The hosts - we had some great chats and and a lovely visit 'round the fire.
Close to amenities....everything you'd need.
P.S. We'll be back....John will want another 'tour' :)
This Boondockers site is perfect. Beautiful farm, the sugar bush is a wonderful hike. Dave and Dale are wonderful hosts. Dave has lots of stories to tell, we swapped lies for quite a time. Dale very gracious. We hope to stay at this location in the future.
Straight up wonderful people to spend time with. This was our second visit and we spent 2 nights so we could tour the Bruce Peninsula all the way up to Tobermory where had dinner on the harbour. There is no shortage of beautiful places to see nearby and the host can fill you in with all you need to know. Thanks again guys.
From our warm welcome to a very helpful array of information about the local area, Dave and Dale were very supportive, friendly, and genuine during our stay. It was a very beautiful farm property and close to Port Elgin, Southampton, and the Saugeen River. This was extremely advantageous for the kayaking enthusiasts that we are. We would highly recommend staying at this BD locale!
Dave and Julia
Our hosts graciously welcomed our three BoondockersWelcome motorhome campers to a lovely flat, freshly mown lawn nestled in amongst some barns and sheds away from the road. Our views of the forest and their sugar shack were special. We were fortunate to have a two-night spot for 3 Class B’s with electricity and water, and fun hosts to chat with. Thanks for making our stay so wonderful!
The host was very accommodating even tho he had 3 others there...great services...flat dead quiet country setting...and a genial host..what more do you want...thank you.....
We had a super 2 night stay. The hosts were very informative, welcoming and great to talk to. Lots of space and we felt very safe. We would love to come back when we're out this way again.
Hosts were very friendly and welcoming! Lots of room and privacy. Enjoyed our stay and looking forward to a return visit soon!
Amazing people with such a beautiful farmland. Dad and I really enjoyed our stay here and Dave was so interesting with a wealth of knowledge about the area and gave us some great places to explore. I never seen a mink farm before and I thought it was so cool. A must stay if you are in the Bruce peninsula.
Had a great time, good level site, 30amp, didn’t need the AC, nice and breezy at night. Had a good chat and would recommend for a stay for sure.
