We had a quiet and peaceful stay here. Easy to get to. You must try the homemade cinnamon rolls! We’d gladly stay here again.
Thank you to Kathy & John for a serene and peaceful stay! Camping spot was along side an apple tree and overlooking farmland. Cinnamon rolls baked fresh by Kathy were an added treat. Visited with fellow boon dockers and hosts by the fire pit was very enjoyable.
We had great time at the campfire with you and the other couple. Such a great spot. Thank you.
What a lovely place! Plenty of room. As quiet as it gets. Enjoyed their company at the fire pit. If/when we return to UP Michigan, we'll be back.
We travel full time and have tried many cinnamon rolls.. theirs definitely tops the list of our favorites! YUMMER YUM YUMS!! The pack comes with about 8 I think and we ate them all within less than 24 hours! Great people on a beautiful property and did I mention AAAAAmazing cinnamon rolls!
Most beautiful spot. Our hosts couldn’t have been more gracious. They met as we pulled in, offered to put us at their 50 amp space, told us to help ourselves to the firewood and sweet corn. Met another wonderful couple and really enjoyed visiting around the fire. Hope to return sometime. Thanks. Tom and Gayle
Outstanding hosts and beautiful spot to camp! What a wonderful experience all around. We slept so very well, had many wonderful conversations and some great campfires under the stars! We will definitely be back!!!
Great spot by some apple trees with a peaceful view. The goodies are a great bonus!
We had a great time. Enjoyed the camping spot and the hosts were very nice. And have very tasty homemade baked goods forsale in a little shop on the back of their house. We got very good directions for some site seeing while we were their. Lake Superior was absolutely gorgeous. The pictured rocks are a must see. Lake Michigan was beautiful also. We stopped and had a picnic and a walk on the beach along rt2 on our way back to the Mackinaw bridge. Definitely had a great time. Would love to go back again.
We stayed at Pope Acres while we explored the UP. Wonderful people with delicious goodies if you are interested. This quiet, off the beaten path location was a great start to our Boondockers Welcome journey.
This location is top notch!
At arrival we saw a "Boondockers Welcome" sign at the driveway and were welcomed by the host. He guided us to our spot. This is a popular spot in the upper peninsula. We were not the only guests. We had a nice spot in the sun, so our solar panels could charge the battery. The night was nice and quiet.
We heard the cinnamon rolls are delicious! We could top of our watertank and left the next day.
Thanks for having us and maybe we'll meet some day in Arizona!
We had a great stay and enjoyed every minute on there farm! They are so generous and welcoming!
Words can not explain how amazing these folks are. We left a previous positive review earlier because we had completed our stay BUT just as we turn left and we go a mile and a half our motorhome just died. It's Saturday morning everything is closed for the weekend. These kind folks let us tow strap her back to their place and let us stay until Thursday that week to get repaired. They got us in contact with a great repair guy who treated us more than fair. The Mrs. makes amazing pasties, cookies, bread, and to die for cinnamon rolls so make sure to pick some up. We just can not thank them enough for all the help. Oh and by the way the location is beautiful and perfect for everything North,South, East and West. Boondockers Welcome is truly a family.
We want to thank the hosts for their great hospitality- especially around the campfire with another boondocker couple.
Wow, we had a real nice overnight stay at Pope Acres. Host guided us to an absolutely level spot beside the red building. Upon leaving the next morning we just pulled forward around the loop and out - no disconnecting our tow on our 58' overall length rig! As darkness descended we went out to sit and chat with the host&hostess, along with three of the other guests, and watched the fire until dark and rain threatened. Very congenial was the whole group of 10 people. This is on our future must stop list. If there were stars it would rank a 5.
Hosts were very welcoming and accommodating. Offered electric hookup topped off our water and allowed us to stay an extra night and had a nice fire in the fire ring. Absolutely would stay here again. The Mrs. makes some great passties and cinnamon rolls. Yum yum
Thanks for an awesome place to hang our hat. Very nice, clean and well cared for spot. I definitely loved the community fire ring and all of the nice fruit trees.
We spent 5 nights here and feel so lucky to have had the opportunity! Our hosts are the salt of the earth wonderful folks!! We visited Several places in the NE Upper Peninsula so it made a great home base and a quiet lovely place to relax each evening! Can’t wait to try the pasties we bought there😉and highly recommend these good folks!!
We had such a lovely stay at Pope Acres. A beautiful setting with wonderful hosts. couldn’t ask for more. Great baked goods as well!
Hope to see you again ate Popes!
The bar has been set pretty high as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Pope Acres. From the spacious area to the deer in the distance to the nightly campfire, this was a very relaxing stay. Meeting other RVers in this setting was wonderful. We appreciate the host's recommendations for things to do and see and the help with driving directions. Definitely recommend!
Our hosts were very welcoming, gracious, and friendly. Lots of room here as well. Nice fire pit for the cool evenings. And don't forget to try the baked goods while you're here!
My son and I had a wonderful time. The hosts were both welcoming and helpful. The evening campfires were the best. Definitely hope to return in the future!
Great site, good communication, and a welcoming friendly host. We arrived and were shown to a spot overlooking the farm. Each evening we sat around a fire with our hosts and fellow Boondockers sharing our daily explorations as well as rving tips and recommendations. We made some great friends and hope to be next year.
Pope Farms was wonderful! Kathy was an amazing cook with pasties, cinnamon rolls, and cookies for sale. We stayed 3 nights, and every night the Johnathan and Kathy joined all the campers around the campfire. We were there on my birthday and Kathy surprised me with a cinnamon and candle! I couldn't have asked for a better spot or nicer hosts.
From the time we drove up the driveway and met to the time that we left, we felt welcome. Our space was more than plentiful. The property was spacious, peaceful and private.
Our hosts were very accommodating and checked with us several times over the days of our stay.
We highly recommend Pope Acres as a place to stay and relax. The location lends itself to being close to points of interest but away from major attractions!
Thank you for a great stay!
What a beautiful piece of land with wonderful hosts. Staying in this ideal location to explore the eastern U.P. was the highlight of our trip. Beginning with a warm welcome, to eating the delicious pastries prepared by the hostess, and continuing to the friendships made with the host and hostess and other RVers around the nightly campfire. Don’t miss this one if it’s available.
Sweet couple, beautifull property. Loved our visit here and felt right at home. I even learned what a pastie is! She makes em by the dozens...yummy.
Our host’s welcome was more like an old friend than a stranger. The kindness and generosity of the hosts set the tone and the bar for all the Boondockers. A variety of baked goods was available for purchase as well. The location was convenient for day trips; however, we needed some rest and this was the quiet & peaceful place for it! Nestled into a mini orchard, the fire ring was central to a multiple spot, almost level camp area. (If you want to be all alone, that can happen also.) The hosts joined us one night at the campfire and they are a delight. Can’t say enough positive about this calm, restorative, breezy farm setting and the great hosts! Would love to return for a reunion of campers!❤️
The hosts were very welcoming. They also had tasty homemade treats available for sale too. (The pasties and cinnamon rolls that we had were very good.). Their property has lots of room for multiple RVs to be parked. In the central area of the spots, they have a campfire ring that we enjoyed with the other guests. Everyone was joy to be around. It was a nice sense of community to be gathered around the campfire at night.
This was a lovely grassy stay on a hill out back. We had a couple neighbors who shared the fire ring that were pleasant to visit. The large fields of mowed open space were fantastic for taking long quiet walks. It is a great place to relax. We would love to visit again next year.
We stayed at Pope acres as a halfway point for a 12 hour drive. Nice central location in the UP. The site is great. Beautiful full country views. We were able to run our dog around the outside of the fields on a great mowed path. Host helped get us get parked and situated. We also purchased pasties for dinner and cinnamon buns for the road. Both were fantastic. Will definitely stay there again when in the area.
I enjoyed absolutely everything about visiting the U.P., and my stay here was a highlight. Such kindness and hospitality - and a true sanctuary. Next time I get up that way, I'm requesting a month, hahaha! Thank you for everything, I so appreciate you ❤
This was a beautiful stay. We were parked next to an apple tree near a field. Hosts were incredibly accommodating. Don't leave without purchasing pasties-they are fantastic. We had them our first night and then got more for the road. Delicious! Thank you!
Great hosts. We felt like family by the end of our stay. Spacious property with a fire pit and a nice breeze. One of our favorite spots.
Our stay was great. We went into Curtis and had dinner at the shipwreck. The town was very small and we really enjoyed it.
We had a great stay with Camp4fun! Host were very welcoming and accommodating as we had to move our dates around a couple of times. They have lots of nice grassy parking with a fire pit and wood to use. He does have 50amp for one site. Enjoyed walking the trails as well. Also enjoyed the pasties and cinnamon rolls! Highly recommend this spot!
This host was helpful and kind. I’m a newbie and needed some assistance. I was met with kindness, helpfulness, and understanding. I am grateful.
The views and land are beautiful. Close to some of Michigan’s amazing landscapes. Quiet and peaceful. Would definitely stay again.
We stayed one night with this host. It was a good stay. our host came right our to meet us, and show us where to park.
There was also a large family staying there in an RV. I was impressed that the children were happy running and playing in the yard.
We were offered some fresh pasties for $5 each which added to our prepared food supply while we travel. NIce!
Thank you so much for your kind hospitality!
A very friendly host they are very good at telling you where to go, and what to do in this surrounding area. The pasties that she makes and sells are absolutely amazing, better than we had in town or anywhere else so far in Michigan! The view is beautiful, the grounds are well tended, and you really couldn't ask for more from a boondocker's welcome site. We had 50 amp power, they provided the water, and they even suggested a place to go to use a dump site 3 miles away when we left. Would definitely stay again anytime we are in the area. Do bring bug spray, but that's all of Michigan so far! :)
The hosts and location are awesome! They have homemade pasties and other treats, if you're lucky. Great advice for local things to do too.
Had a great stay! Spot was level with plenty of room. Very nice property as well. The best part was the conversations with the hosts. They were very accommodating and even provided ideas to enjoy our time in the U.P. Just say YES to the Pasty's!!!!! You will understand when you get there.
We had a wonderful stay! The hosts were great! Very accommodating! The property is so beautiful and peaceful! We had some homemade pasties made fresh by the host!! Delicious welcome to the UP!
What a great spot! Room for several rigs while still feeling you are alone. Bit of a drive to pictured rocks and fayette, both worth the drive!
Hope to return someday.
What very gracious hosts! Pope acres is serene and relaxing. Hosts are awesome! We will be back. Thank you again John. Kris and Eriks
Very accommodating & hospitable hosts!
Lovely quiet night and a great place to spend a rest day…watching butterflies over the purple wildflowers.
Nice to meet other campers there as well!
We parked our 40' diesel pusher in their field, a long ways from the house. It was great. The host was great also. No problems, no fuss.
Beautiful location and super nice hosts. Enjoyed meeting and visiting with hosts and their grandchildren. Host makes Pasties a Michigan specialty. Make sure to purchase a few from them as they are fantastic. Thanks for hosting us.
This was our very first BW experience as new full-timers and we absolutely loved it! The hosts were very gracious and friendly and our camping site was gorgeous. It's located in a rural area on a 20 acre farm, so it was very peaceful and serene. We slept great! They even offer freshly baked pasties for sale. They were soo good! Thanks for such a great visit!
Lovely place, thank you for your hospitality!
Great paved road coming in. We were greeted by the host upon arrival and shown where to park. We were greeted by a beautiful backyard area with a fire pit. Plenty of room to maneuver our trailer and unload the motorcycle. We only had to use a few leveling blocks.
The hosts are very nice and were accommodating when we needed to add a day onto our stay.
Our hosts were so friendly, site was quite flat in a grassy area with some shade and a shared campfire in the middle with firewood. We enjoyed staying here very much and we enjoyed the little community feeling that the campfire provided in the evening for everyone staying here. We received great tips from our hosts and the other campers for things to do and see! We used their 50 amp for part of the stay and took on some water at arrival. <3 His wife makes and sells homemade pasties that are incredible. The delicious flaky crust just melts in your mouth, and great flavor!! We highly recommend them!
About 5-10mins away is Cedar Lodge/Campground with a dump station that’s $10, which we used. Same place rents tubes and kayaks. $15/tube and they’ll pick you up downstream at the park on the highway and bring you back.
This location is convenient to Kitch-iti-Kipi, Indian Lake SP (also has a dump station and nice private showers $9/day entry), Painted Rocks (hosts recommended the RipTide Ride boat tour out of Munising), Tahquamenon Falls, Grand Marais, etc So much to do! And check out the End of the Road Winery less than 5mins from the host site.
We won’t hesitate to stay with them again!
Our host was very nice & has a lovely area behind his house. We enjoyed visiting at the fire with some other Boondockers who were staying there. We had a quiet, restful night.
This property is gorgeous! The hosts are very friendly, accommodating, and laid back. We truly enjoyed sightseeing in the area, walking our dog on their mowed path, and stargazing at night. Would definitely recommend this spot if in the area!
Campforfun was a great place to stay on the upper peninsula of MI. The hosts were extremely hospitable. Their campsites were level, private and there was a common campfire ring where you could socialize with the other guests if you liked. Very quiet beautiful farms surrounded the campsites. The hosts offered water to fill our tank if needed and one of the campsites had 30 amp power available. Would highly recommend.
We were in the area for part of our tour of the UP. Super nice host and had local information for us which we always love. What a super nice property and plenty of space. It rained for most of our stay so we didn't get much of a chance to hang out at the super nice fire pit and get acquainted with them. We were able to get to Pictured Rocks!! If passing through again, will definitely stay again!
We loved our time at Pope acres! By far our favorite stop yet. Glad we planned our stay for 4 days. The hosts are so generous and helpful, the spot is beautiful, and there's lots to do. Thanks again for letting us stay! Here's to hoping we cross paths in the old Pueblo someday.
We stayed two nights and they were worry free . We had power and a really nice spot with some privacy in the apple orchard. The owners are very accommodating and even offered some helpful tips for sightseeing. Only negative is they were dog- sitting a couple of large Rottweilers who were loud at night but that is temporary we understand and would not impact a decision to stay there again at all.
Great 2 night stay at Pope Acres! Jon met us on arrival and showed us the spots with hookup for the 50 amp service which we shared. Jon also offered water to fill our water tank. A fire pit was available including wood. We would highly recommend this location to any who are looking for a nice and quiet setting.
The host greeted us upon entry and helped with water fill. Really nice spacious spot to overnight. Wish we could have stayed longer.
This host had a huge flat lot and was perfect for our stay. We had electric and they filled our water. We had a few BW neighbors which we made friends with and enjoyed the fire pit and firewood from our host. The property is beautiful and we’d love to stay here again if we are in the area.
We enjoyed our stay at the Popes! They are amazing hosts! The site was beautiful, peaceful and spacious. Couldn’t ask for nicer people!
This was our first time using Boondockers Welcome and we I had a great experience, our host were very welcoming and accommodating. We were able to see everything we wanted to see in the area and that was a great place to land at the end of a long day. Thank you to our host’s !!
The hosts were communicative, welcoming, and generous! We enjoyed meeting them and the other guests and sitting around the campfire in the evenings. Wonderful experience!
Treated us like friends they hadn’t seen for years!!! Easy leveling our 38 foot Class A. Beautiful, well maintained property. Shade trees. Nice fire pit with lots of wood! Stayed 4 nights & really enjoyed our stay. 20 beautiful acres! Highly recommend this host!!!!
What wonderful host!! We throughly enjoyed our stay with them. They made us feel so welcome and felt like part of the family.. We had a wiener roast and they shared some delicious homemade pineapple cake with us while we shared our stories.. Tyler is so sweet that I could have brought him home with us!! The property is beautiful, well manicured and very peaceful. Highly recommend a visit with them..
Spacious park surrounded by green farmland. Hosts are very friendly and attentive, had a fire pit and gave us plenty of wood. Highly recommend, will definitely stay again if we’re in the area!
