Our home is located a mile outside the city limits of Winchester, VA in Frederick County.
We are very meticulous about our home and yard. It is absolutely imperative that you do not drive on our yard as you maneuver in/out of the driveway. There is an irrigation system with sprinkler heads lining the driveway and curb that can easily be damaged. We have a wide, long and flat driveway that is easy to navigate. But, if you think this may be an issue please allow us to assist you to navigate without incident.
The apron from the street to the entrance of our driveway is steep and most hitches drag on the driveway. Unfortunately, therefore, we can only accept motorhomes (not travel trailers or fifth-wheels) and require anything in tow be dropped at the curb in front of the house. If you prefer to not to disconnect from a towed vehicle, there is plenty of room to park your rig at the curb in front of the house rather than in the driveway.
Long, wide, flat concrete driveway with easy access and no trees. Suburban neighborhood, 25 mph street that can get somewhat busy but I don’t have any problems getting my 35’ diesel pusher in and out.
The apron at the entrance of our driveway is rather steep and most hitches drag and scrape the driveway. For this reason, sadly, we can only host motorhomes (and not travel trailers or fifth wheels) and require anything in tow be dropped at the curb.
We have our motorhome at our river lot on the Shenandoah River and visit it often. We try to keep the calendar updated but sometime will not be available even though our calendar doesn’t reflect it.
Lots of Civil War history. Visit the wonderful pedestrian mall in Old Town Winchester about 2-1/2 miles away.
Our hosts welcomed us to their beautiful home when we arrived. They offered use of a 50 amp electric hookup. They even invited us to share a meal with them. We politely declined but were able to visit and get to know each other after dinner. It was our first Boonedockers Welcome experience and we will request more stays as we travel.
'Hostess with the Mostest' is an understatement for this couple! They are so friendly and accommodating they should really charge for their services! LOL! Thanks a great stay! D & T
Our host couldn't have been more accommodating, accepting, and giving. The neighborhood was quiet, we slept peacefully in their driveway. Their home & yard is something out of a magazine. We hope to have made lifetime friends here and look forward to reaching out again when driving through.
This place was in a very beautiful, estate type, area. Property was pristine and the owners were as warm and giving as anyone could expect one to be. It was a great stay close to town and close to some historical sites. To us living in a more or less un-gated community, with some restrictions, it was hard to believe that there would be an offering of the quality that this place exhibits. We want to thank you very much for your warm hospitality and your invite to join you and the folks that were there that night. It being so new and so different, we were not unappreciative of the offer, it was strange to us as we felt like we were invading . I hope you can understand that. God bless you both.
On my 2nd visit with these fine folks, I had a chance to repay their hospitality by cooking dinner for them. My spaghetti sauce gets pretty good reviews.
BW is such a great way to make friends. Thanks again.
Up at 5:30 am to do laundry and getting soaked by heavy rain, it made the days drive seem even longer. That is, until I was greeted by the friendly hosts at Heart of the Shenandoah Valley! I was immediately welcomed with smiles and joined the hosts on their gorgeous back deck for a night of great conversation and wonderful stories. We talked for hours and by the end of the night, it felt like we’d been friends for years!
These two go out of their way to make you feel welcome and cared for. They even took me up to a wonderful store to buy some fresh made local goods and fresh produce! I think it’ll be hard to find hosts as welcoming and accommodating as these!! I will most definitely be back to visit and hope our meeting was the start of a wonderful friendship!
Beautiful property and gracious hosts, just a few miles from historic downtown Winchester.
A wonderful old town to explore, and great people to stay with. Boondocking at it's best.
We had a wonderful one night stay. The GPS took us right to the location. The location is great for visiting Winchester, Harper's Ferry National Historic Site and Antietam National Battlefield. It is also
located within 30 minutes of Skyline Drive/Shenandoah NP. The hosts were very friendly and we would happily stay there again.
Two of the most wonderful host we’ve had the pleasure of meeting. Great conversation and storytelling. Shelley and Pat welcomed us and made our one night stay wishing we were staying longer. Accommodations were perfect as well. Highly recommended for any Motorhome traveler.
We became instant Friends! They were so accommodating! We felt at home and wish we could’ve stayed longer! We’ll definitely be back in the fall! And hope we can travel together sometime!
These folks were especially welcoming. Wonderful spot just off of I-81, and lots to check out in Winchester. We had a lively conversation on the patio while occasionally glancing over at the hockey game on TV.
Pfinn77 thank you!
Had a great stay at Heart of the Shenandoah Valley. Beautifully landscaped property with numerous varieties of flowers all around. Easy level driveway to park in and gracious generous hosts. Will definitely stay again.
