It’s dirt can get muddy and softwhen it rains. Plan to come on sunny days.
We drove approximately 30 minutes from I-80 to Howell Hollow. We had a great place to park and our hosts were wonderful from 6 ft. apart! We visited Bald Eagle State Park which is about a 40 minute drive and really nice! It poured rain on the way home from the park, but being from Arizona for 25 years, we enjoyed it! Our hosts were so kind! Thank you for hosting us! We really appreciate a safe place to park as we head for home!
I had the misfortune to be caught on the road during the Covid-19 quarantine period. I was grateful to Charityhowell for allowing me to stay on their property for a night so I could rest up on my travels from Virginia to New York. Although we did waived from afar due to social distancing, I felt welcomed and would stay here again.
This is a great spot for peace and quiet!, Lots of room on a lovely, level, huge backyard where you may be greeted by chickens and turkeys (ducks are penned). The Howells are wonderful, easy-going, generous, and available to help or answer questions. If you are staying for a few days nearby there is: Penn State U., 30 miles away with a wonderful museum, arboretum and famous ice cream creamery. Phillipsburg, 7 mi in the other direction also has lots to offer, and Black Moshannon S.P. a little farther away.
Thank you Charity and Brian.
This was a lovely spot to spend five nights...
There were chickens and roosters and turkeys and ducks - oh my...a large field my pups loved running around and a neighboring horse who was very friendly...
We met Bella who is a beautiful St. Bernard mix and very friendly!...
I enjoyed chatting with Charity and also the time I had to just do my thing...
Nearby grocery store, laundromat and post office were excellent...
Highly recommend this beautiful spot in rural Pennsylvania...
Located in a picturesque village on top of a mountain in central Pennsylvania. Our hosts were so accommodating, we felt so welcome. This morning Charity came out of the barn with half a dozen fresh eggs, for us, from her chickens in the barn. These folks are what make Boondockers Welcome so special.
Quiet, pleasant Memorial weekend in the Allegheny hills, away from typical hub-bub of campgrounds. Hosts checked on us frequently to make sure sure all was well. We were able to get some rest, some reno completed, enjoyed shopping in State College and took some bike rides on nearby trails. Would love to stay again. Thank you!
Howells Hollow was very welcoming. We were impressed by the huge, firm driveway and a very peaceful location. We love seeing places through Boondockers Welcome we would never see otherwise.
Brian and Charity hosted us at their wonderfully peaceful spot. Brian ushered us into a Level parking so we did not have to use our levelers or jacks or even unhook. Thank you so much for the use of your property. Timmy loved meeting your TommyCat. They almost became friends. We will stay here again sometime!
Dee and Mike.
We had a great time, wood was split and kept dry , place for the pups was a huge plus too!
Recommend for a passing traveler!
Wonderful and friendly hosts who have an excellent boondocking location!
Nice level spot and close to the main road. Raining like crazy so we had no time to spend with hosts but did appreciate the stay, Thanks, Allen and MaryLynn
