A small Organic WInery on the coast of Maine.
Only well behaved pets (and owners) please!
It’s always nice to ask!
A gravel driveway leads up past the farmhouse & winery to the orchard & pastures.
In dry weather you can park and turn around in the pastures. There is one spot with 12ft low branches. There is an old apple tree you need to drive past to get to the top of the ridge.
There is plenty of space to park but we prefer smaller campers.
Generally available any time.
Acadia National Park
Overall a peaceful location to stay at and hospitable host. The communication could have been a bit better, but overall was a positive experience. I was fine in my van, but bigger RVs might have a bit of trouble.
This host is also part of harvest host and has a vineyard on property.
They were very friendly and very helpful in giving ideas for other camping spots to stay out and places to visit.
We enjoyed our stay at the Shalom organic orchard and winery. We were greeted warmly and pointed in the right direction. Our host met us later and shared some delicious wine. We were joined by a few others, but our view of the sunset was undisturbed and lovely! A perfect stop for us!
Shalom is one of the most enjoyable experiences we have had with Boondockers Welcome. The hosts were very accommodating and we all enjoyed the sunset together. We also got the chance to drink Organic apple Wine near the coast of Maine, which is outstanding. The surrounding areas are beautful and I would recommend Shalom Orchard if you are ever on the coast of Maine.
This host was lovely and he let me feed his sheep! His wine was delicious and we slept overlooking his apple trees and the beautiful stars above! He was quite knowledgeable about out of the way camping places also .thank you shalom orchard for letting us stay
This was our first time using boondockers welcome and found it to be very satisfactory. Host met us on arrival and directed us to our campsite. Highlights of that stay was gorgeous sunsets and wild turkeys passing through. A very good experience for sure!
The couple and their dogs were friendly, and we were offered a free wine tasting. Their apple wine was delightful. The view from their orchard was beautiful, with great sunsets. I will say that the grass was a bit overgrown where we parked, but other than that, we enjoyed the stay!
Many thanks to the folks at Shalom Organic Farm and winery. It’s a beautiful location. We enjoyed our winetasting and the wine we purchased! The parking is in open fields, which was a bit of a challenge for us since we have a low axle trailer, however we were ultimately able to manage just fine.
Lots of options as far as where to park, a little rough, but overall a cute quaint place!
We had a nice level spot and got to enjoy the owner’s organic apple wine.
This is a working orchard/farm. We camped in a field near the sheep. Jim shared his knowledge of historic fruit wines as well as his homemade apple wine. Overall it was a nice experience.
Shalom Orchard was the perfect boondocking spot! Perfect location for us to visit Acadia for a few days. The host was so kind and helpful during our stay! Highly recommend the apple wine if you visit!
We had a great experience staying at Shalom Orchard for two nights. Our spot on the property gave us beautiful sunset views and a nice quiet sleep. Ellsworth is only about 20mins drive and a really nice town to visit.
Great hosts with local information and a beautiful pasture to boondock in.
Nice host, good wine, fine time. We managed to get our 30' rig in, no problem.
Had a good experience staying at the orchard. Spent a few days there. Not too far from Acadia national Park. Beautiful sunsets over a beautiful orchard. The host were pleasant and and offered free wine tasting. I particularly like the blueberry wine. Parking is a little tricky and the ground has to be dry as it's just pasture grass. With some hills not perfectly flat anywhere. Great for Vans and small RVs.
We had a pleasant stay. Our hosts were welcoming, although pur visit with them was cut short by thundershowers. We appreciated the quiet and safe spot for the night.
Host was accommodating, we arrived later in the day and he showed us where to park. A couple different spots in the field out behind the house. We were pretty level, but some spots looked a little soft and grassy. Unfortunately the spring brought the flies so we weren't able to sit out and enjoy the sunset, but quiet night as at a small winery. Quick stay and on to Acadia. Thanks!
