As seasoned RVer's with over 45,000 miles under our tires traveling all over North America we have done everything we can think of for our RV parking area to make your stay enjoyable. In fact, this space was our home where we ourselves lived in our motorhome while we built our house in 2021. It is purposely located away from our house to offer you the privacy and tranquility you desire. Feel free to use the fire pit in the evenings to roast hot dogs or make s'mores or just sit outside and relax during your stay. While here if you have any questions regarding RVing in Alaska please feel free to ask away as we run the very popular FB group "RVing to Alaska - the Original" as well as have a YouTube channel educating on everything RV related and Alaska (@RVingtoAlaska). We are here to help you in any way to make your trip to Alaska a memorable one. (Please note we can only accept stays when we plan to be home. As you can imagine Alaska has a short summer and like everyone else we like to get out and explore and play in our great State in both our RV and our boat. Our RVing to Alaska business is also tourist related and that will sometimes take us away on short notice. We will try our best to accept stay requests but please understand if we decline a request its because something else is already planned or we have friends and family visiting. ) Houston is located 18 miles north of Wasilla, 11 miles south of Willow, and 57 road miles north of Anchorage. Most businesses including groceries and supplies can be found back in Wasilla however in our little town of Houston we do have a Three Bears convenience store that is big rig friendly with fuel, rv dump and propane available. If you have a sweet tooth stop in across the street for the best ice cream in the Valley at Millers Market. Just look for the giant ice cream cone out front. The line out the door proves how much their ice cream is loved and is a must stop for visitor or local alike. If you are looking for a place to easily stay and visit the Hatcher Pass area or want to fish the Little Susitna, or just be out of town for some peace and quiet our Houston Hideaway is the place for you. Our property is located in a small quiet neighborhood a mile off of the Parks Highway nestled among the willows and birch trees. Just watch out for the local moose when traveling our small roads as they are king of the road so please go slow. Suggested Local Attractions:Popular recreation sites nearby include the Little Su Day Use Area, Big Lake Recreation Areas, and Nancy Lakes State Recreation Area. Popular day trips from Houston include visiting Hatcher Pass Recreation Area, Talkeetna, the Matsu Valley including Palmer and Wasilla, and day trips out to the Matanuska and Knik Glaciers where RV parking has limited availability. Hiking Trails for hiking and ATVs crisscross most of Houston. Many either lead toward the Hatcher's Pass Recreation Area or to the trail systems behind our property leading to the Big Su River from Big Lake to Willow which are most popular during winter months for dog mushers and snowmachiners. Many local dog kennels are also nearby for a different true Alaskan tour experience. Many hiking trails area nearby including hiking the Butte, Government Peak and again Hatcher Pass. During the summer months, a popular water trail is north of us at the Nancy Lakes region plus dozen of lakes nearby to get your kayaks and canoes wet for an amazing paddle. Annual events include Founder's Day, a community celebration boasting live entertainment, food and craft vendors, activities for the whole family and a fireworks display.

We are new to the neighborhood and do not want to upset our new neighbors. • No running generators after 10pm • Please supervise your pets as this is home to wildlife as well (moose frequent the area). • Use only the provided fire ring if you would like a campfire. If we are having campfire you may join us, or you may bring in your own wood to have one yourself. No chopping down any of our trees to provide wood for a campfire. • This is a no services campsite. If you need water or a dump station the closest to us is at the Three Bears gas station two miles up the Parks Highway.

No Work and All Play! We are Stacey and Gary and we moved to the land of the midnight sun in the spring of 2021 after traveling to Alaska by RV for several summers and fell in love with everything Alaska. Gary and I have known each other since high school but we didn't start dating until our late 30's and married 2 years later. We now celebrate 10 years of marriage as we hit the half century mark. We are blessed and fortunate enough to say we retired early in our 40's and we took that time to travel extensively in our RV. Our rolling home on wheels is a 38ft 2016 Fleetwood Discovery motorhome that we affectionately call the Disco. We also have a Adventurer truck camper that we have added to our Fleet of Fun for running around Alaska in. Prior to moving to Alaska we have RV'd from our old home base in Washington State to the Southwest US for several winters, then up to Alaska for the summers of 2017 & 2019, then down to the Florida Keys for a different winter experience in 2018 after we were in the RV Nomads documentary and then back to Alaska in 2021 when we made the decision to permanently move to Alaska. After seeing most of the United States we felt Alaska truly is one the best places to live as well as one of the best places to RV to as well! The journey is long and bumpy but worth every minute and every mile! We previously ran a BW host site where we were Super Hosts and hope to continue doing the same here in Alaska. Home Town: Houston, Alaska is our home. Houston is located an hour and a half North of Anchorage and is situated in-between Willow and Wasilla along the Parks Highway. Its a quiet bedroom community in the MatSu Valley where outdoor activities are literally outside our front door. Skills or Expertise to Share: Stacey runs the FB community called "RVing to Alaska - the Original" which can be found at www.facebook.com/groups/rv2ak. We help educate RVers on the ins and outs of RVing to Alaska by creating an online community where members can collaborate and learn from one another as they make the journey to Alaska. During the summer months we also hold an annual RV2AK rally campout where our members can come together for a week of community and friendship while on the road. We also run a youtube channel by the same name sharing RV tips, tricks and of course Alaska content. That can be found at www.youtube.com/rvingtoalaska. For more info you may visit our company website at www.rvingtoalaska.com.

I'm still new at the lingo so I was afraid to park in the 'BMW's' spot. Stacy was awesome. When I fell off the side of a mountain with my car, she was able to recommend the one guy (Wayne) that would come get me. My insurance company couldn't find anyone! I felt very safe leaving my camper there. There is soooo much to do in the area. I could have stayed 2 weeks and not seen it all. My dog and I even took the Alaskan train to Hurricane and back to Talkeetna. GREAT place to stay!

Our stay with Stacy and Gary was our first Boondocker stay. We were greeted very friendly and immediately felt very welcome. We got valuable tips for our further trip. The pitch could not be better, we had 3 nice days and met 2 great people. Thank you for everything and for the hospitality, we will definitely not forget this beautiful stay. Moni & Manfred

What a beautiful place to boondock! Stacey and Gary Quimby were such gracious hosts. They were waiting for us when we came in with their sweet dogs. They stayed around and talked with us! Such a nice couple. The spot was perfect! Trees and mountains were found all around us. The winds picked up when we were trying to leave, so Stacey messaged us and offered another day as she knew it would be difficult to drive. Such hospitality is amazing! Thank you so much!

This is a wonderful quiet place to take a break from your travels and is also close to many things to do in the area. Stacey and Gary are great hosts. The parking spot is level and easy to maneuver in. We will definitely come here again if available.
