The south Parking lot.
Water fill available but not close enough to parking location for RV's to stay hooked up.
The parking lot has a good grade going from West to East so we suggest parking North South along the woods and grassy field.
Menards, Aldi, Walmart and plenty of dining close by.
RV center is also just down the street.
Generators should be off at Dusk. (Unless their very quiet 70dB or less)
If on campus on Sunday morning.
ALL are welcome to worship come as you are. Services are 8a, 9:30a, and 11a
Check the church website for more details https://www.mlcjoliet.org/
MLC is a no smoking campus if you do smoke please keep it in your rig.
No open alcohol containers please.
If we are in "Peak Season" we may need to ask you to "break camp" by 7:30a and use as little parking as possible, to accommodate Sunday worshipers. But you should be fine most times of the year.
Just off I55 & I80
Large roads no issues with any size rig
Space available in the parking lot.
Availability may be limited on Easter weekend.
Starve Rock State Park, Joliet Prison (many movies filmed here), Route 66 Museum, Rialto Square Theatre
We have a biking and walking trail just across the street.
We enjoyed our stay here. It was so peaceful and our host was gracious and very helpful. Thank you.
Nice and welcoming host and nice paved parking. Toured Rt66 park and enjoyed the nice weather.
Our stay was very pleasant. We stayed on the West side by the grass. Found it to be fairly level. The church was quiet that weekend and noise was at a comfortable level. An occasional motor cycle would split the tranquility now and then but, we'll, we're in a city after all. Didn't get to meet #chefsoulbait as he had things going on too. Hopefully next time..
Thank you so much Messiah Luthern and the wonderful pastor who welcomed us. This was our very first experience with Boondockers, and after staying the night before at Walmart, this was SO WONDERFUL! We even had our Jack's lock up on us and were concerned about getting them working with no mechanics open, the pastor assured us we could stay as long as we needed with no problem. We truly enjoyed our stay and only hope the other locations are as wonderful as this one. Thank you again so much for being such a great host site!
Great place to stop and recharge. Host very quick to respond and gracious with offers of assistance. Would stop again on our next trip through this area.
This is a great location hosted by a true gentleman. He suggested several places we requested info about. There is anything you need to shop for all within 3 miles. It location was much quieter than we expected. We are looking forward to staying there again on our next visit to the area.
Fairly quite despite a busy road and close to the interstate. Easy to get in and out of. Water was available. For the proximity to Chicago I was shocked by the privacy and ease to get to and from.
Also chefsoulbait made the stay feel comfortable and welcoming. Thank you for the great opportunity to stay here.
It was great, didn’t have the opportunity to talk to or thank anyone personally - so, THANK YOU!
ChefSoulBait was very responsive. Directions were easy to follow. Great location! Definitely recommend this spot if you're in the area!
This was our first Boondockers Welcome experience. Pastor David went above and beyond the call of duty to insure that we had everything for a comfortable stay. The location was perfect, close of anything we needed and a quiet secure environment. We found Chicago style hot dogs and Chicago style deep pan pizza plus Walmart supermarket and Aldi grocery all within 3 miles. Looking forward to staying here again when we return to run Route 66 from start to end.
Great directions and communication by host. Level parking area with grass nearby for dog. Very quiet. Ordered food from Johnny’s across the street.
This stay was easy and relaxing. We messaged to ask about coming in late, and it was A-Okay. There were cones that made it easy to see where we could be. Many restaurants surrounding the location made finding dinner easy. It was quiet and pretty level.
We liked it so much we decided to extend our stay! Got to attend a Sunday service and worship with this church family. Thanks again Pastor Chefsoulbait and your congregation.
Pastor Chefsoulbait could not have been kinder in hosting us on his church property. He met us upon arrival and helped us take on some water. Then he showed us the locations to park in the church parking lot which is lined with trees. The temperature was perfect so we were able to sleep with our windows open. We were taking the Metra train in to Chicago to attend some baseball games during our stay and Pastor Chefsoulbait made sure we had all the information we needed. We would definitely stay at this location again. Thank you for hosting us!
Fairly quiet parking lot. Near a small airport but no air traffic noise. Located about an hour outside of Chicago. Stayed here two nights and ventured into the city. Would stay here again.
Great stay. Nice big parking lot easy to park in great location for what I needed to do thank you God you have a great day
We have a lot of space . The place is only 50 min to drive to Chicago and the same distance to Starve Rock State Park. Pastor is on vacation but he allowed us to stay. He also called us to check if we need anything. It is nice and safe place to spend overnight . thanks again for your hospitality pastor.
Uncomplicated place to park, pretty location, quiet the vast majority of the time, plenty of sun for our solar panels, kind and supportive host who checked in and made sure we were all good. I can't think of anything else we could have asked for, :) we're grateful for the safe place to rest and charge. Thanks y'all.
We were passing through and made this one of our stops. Huge parking lot that was easy to gain access. We even had a deer walk right over to our bus! We did leave early due to a certain prison only being open on the weekends. 😕
Perfect spot. Very inviting and accommodating. Thanks for making our trip to the Chicago area a wonderful experience!
Quick response, friendly and welcoming. We felt safe for our overnight stay. Clean, large and level lot was easy to get to.
Wonderfully showing the Love of Christ in this fellowship including kindness to strangers in allowing us to Boondock on the pretty level parking lot. They even had signs made for Boondockers Welcome, like us...I would attach a picture if I could.
This is a great location for us as we traveled along Route 66.
Our host was most accommodating and did extra things like placing cones in the parking lot to make sure a clear spot was waiting for us...we even got a call alerting us to a bad accident on I-80 so we would not be stuck in it.
Thanks again for your opening up a place for us!
Our host was great at communicating, from cordinating our stay to making sure we were settled in. While it may be a parking lot, it feels like a country camping space, parked next to a grassy enclosure equipped with deer. We had a great stay and highly recommended it.
This was our very first Boondockers experience (and only our second night ever sleeping in a trailer!) It was a perfect first stay for us. The location is close to major roads and freeways, and turning into and out of the Messiah lot was a cinch for newbies. The spot where we parked for the night faced private woods -- complete with a birdsong chorus! We would have stayed a second night, but because of the weather forecast we left at the crack of dawn. Even though we didn’t get to meet him, our gracious host helped us with pointers and prompt responses to my many questions. Thank you, Pastor!
I had a very nice stay at this host location. Pastor showed me where to park which gave me a adorable little pasture area for Danni and to watch the deer. But the deer did not come out while I was there it was kind of cold. It was great looking out at the forest area and I enjoyed walking around the grounds of the church where they have a huge fire pit.
I am grateful do you have been able to stay at this boondockers welcome location and blessed that pastor prayed for my travels and my license plate issues yeah! We will certainly come back again it is not far at all from my family. Safe travels to you Pastor and your family on your next venture.
