Door County is home to five state parks, vineyards, wineries, fishing villages, boating, hiking, biking. The bay of Green Bay is about three miles to the west and Lake Michigan is 12 miles north or to the east with access in Sturgeon Bay. Can go salmon fishing in Algoma about 20 miles east, visit a cheese factory down the road about 5 miles or bike on country roads around our place. Lots of wildlife, wildflowers, beautiful stars and night sky, gorgeous sunsets and very peaceful.
We have one indoor/outdoor cat but she is fearful of dogs so unfortunately can't do dogs. Cats ok if kept inside your own RV.
No smoking on property.
Arrive before dark.
Notify us the approximate time we can expect you so we can arrange to be home.
We no longer accept guests who have no prior references; sorry, just burned too many times.
Narrow gravel drive with no turnaround. Our RV is also parked in the driveway so would be difficult for very large RV to park. We are on paved country road. Watch for deer and turkeys. Woodsy. Ice and snow covered in winter.
Parking would be in front of our large metal building (hangar);please stay on gravel drive.
Tow vehicle length is in addition to trailer length and can park in drive with trailer (or on side of gravel drive.)
Winter is generally not a good time as there is just too much snow in the driveway and the ground would be too mushy to park prior to May. This is a spring/summer/fall location. Colors are beautiful in the fall.
Can take the ferry to Washington Island and visit a lavender farm, drive around Door County to visit any shops or festivals or lighthouses. Walk beaches, go swimming, running, hiking, biking, sailing, diving, fishing...any water sports. Cherry picking nearby and throughout Door County. Lots of apple, grape and cherry orchards and farm markets. Several wineries--wine tasting throughout the county (part of the Wisconsin Wine Trail).
Very level gravel parking pad
Hosts provided a lot of info about Door County
Jonandramelle could not have been more inviting and accommodating. Very much enjoyed talking with about ultralight airplanes snd his business.
The hostess should be head of the Door county chamber of commerce. She knows all of the major highlights.
Highly recommend staying here if yiu have the opportunity. Door county us beautiful with so many things to do.
What a lovely place to plant ourselves! Beautiful countryside. We so enjoyed Their wonderful hospitality. They had maps and brochures and gave us great tips on places to see for our short stay. So nice to share an evening of good conversation with them. Wish we lived closer so we could visit them again.
Very nice couple loads of information. We had really good conversations with them both.
This is a great location for exploring Door County. We we used electric and water and both were sufficient for us.
Would definitely stay here again while in the area.
We had an amazing stay at Plane Door County. Ramelle met us at the road and showed us where to park and offered water and electric hookups. She provided us with a local visitors guide and information about the area. We had dinner and drinks together at a nearby spot. We loved meeting her cat who appeared to take a liking to us. Ramelle also showed us around the property and Jon's airplane garage and airstrip. The last morning, Ramelle, showed us her butterfly habitat and shared her knowledge with us which we found very interesting and enjoyable. We were even able to release one into the wild. She sent us on our way with a delicious sweet treat and invited us to stay again in the future. Great stay and we look forward to returning in the future.
We had a great time with jonandramelle. They were soooo welcoming. We had a great stay. Hope to keep in touch.
It was our extreme pleasure to have been hosted by Plane Door. Their friendly smiles met us upon arrival and guided us onto the very level lot. We had a fantastic evening chatting and getting to know them and their interesting friends. They went above and beyond making us feel welcome, showing us their plane, answering our questions and inviting us to their happy hour!
They were helpful in giving us ideas of things to do in the area and even gave us tourist literature. We feel like we have made new friends and welcome them to visit us anytime. We hope to stay in touch and meet up again as we will be back to WI often.
You can’t ask for better hosts! Thank you so much!
Enjoyed conversing with them and enjoy nature and plants as much as us, all around great stay!!
Lovely couple and lovely conversation. Nice quiet level spot, inquisitive cat, great ebike ride to county park for sunset.
Plane Door is a wonderful spot to sit back and relax. Gorgeous flowers, butterflies, open sky !! Also an interesting airplane adventure.
Our hosts are ever so warm, friendly, helpful - a joy to visit. We were welcomed at the road and assisted to our parking spot (very level). A joyful colorful bouquet of flowers was a nice welcoming gift along with Door County information. Door County is an interesting place to sight see but sitting on Door County property is the best!
We love our Boondocker Welcome hosts!
Our hosts met us at the driveway and helped us park-that always makes travelers feel welcome. After introductions and a short visit, they brought us a bouquet of native wildflowers and some brochures for the area. Also, suggested a local restaurant for Happy Hour! Wow! Highly recommend choosing this host when visiting Door County, WI!
Jon and Ramelle were so welcoming and kind, they absolutely made our first visit to Door County memorable.
They were gracious with their time and we got to see Jon’s plane and he answered our questions about experimental aircrafts and his current project. They left us some chairs to relax in after a long day exploring.
Located a short drive from all that Door County has to offer, this was the perfect home base for our weekend trip. We had such a fun weekend, we only wish it was longer! So glad we found this website and our awesome hosts! Thanks again for your time and generosity!
