We are 5 minutes outside the town of Smithfield on 38 acres of mostly wooded land. We are mostly secluded and have walking trails on the property. The trails are well defined and there are some hilly parts.
If you are with a group of campers we can probably accommodate up to 6. If not groups, then only 3.
We do have three dogs that run at large most of the day. If that is a concern please let us know so we can put them in a fenced area.
Be respectful. Leave the property in the same condition in which you found it. Be sure we communicate about pets prior to your arrival.
If you smoke, please dispose of butts in the proper way.
We live off a short dirt road, but we've had a 40' 5th wheel enter with no problems.
Depending on where you park will depend on the amount of backing. But, there is lots of room for backing.....no tight spaces.
Lots of parking for tow vehicles right by your rig.
We are 5 minutes outside of downtown Smithfield..... home of Smithfield hams. Smithfield has a downtown district featuring historic attractions, charming shops, boutiques and galleries as well as restaurants and a brew pub. We are one hour from the Virginia Beach oceanfront.
Lots of historic locations and numerous military bases within an hour.
In an out-of-the-way, very easy-to-get-to LUSH green space, we parked our 42’ Dynasty on an oversized meadow, surrounded by treeeeees! The owner came down (with 3 friendly furry ambassadors) to greet us and welcome us to her Paradise. A lovely spot to settle and just “be”!
I had a pleasant stay at the Paradise. The hosts where quite friendly and accommodating, and their big fluffy roommates where friendly as well.
Their field is very easy to maneuver in. I tried staying in direct sun for the solar panels, but it’s just too hot in mid-July! I quickly retreated to the shade of the forest line, like they’d recommended.
I ran my generator frequently with no complaints, and the hosts even offered to allow me to get some water from their external hose.
If you’re passing through rural agricultural Virginia this is a good stop along the way.
We stayed here for 3 nights and the spot was great! We had the nice shady field all to ourselves except for when their puppies came to visit our puppies. We went kayaking nearby. They didn’t put any limitations on our generator usage which was great because we had “feels like” temps over 100 degrees! Overall just really enjoyed the stay. Thanks so much for allowing us to share you little slice of paradise
Very quite place to stay. Beautiful. Love the sounds of nature. Friendly hosts.
The hosts are just really great people. The property is gorgeous as well and we had a great time staying there.
A great couple very helpful. Fantastic setting for Boondocking. Unfortunately, our stay at Kroh's paradise was cut short. Our furry kids had a great time. Will stay here again in the future.
Thank you both for your kindness!
We loved our stay here. It was very peaceful. It felt like you were both camping on the woods as well as a farm. They're also a great strawberry farm just down the road from here.
We hope to return in the future.
The hosts are very welcoming and nice. They respond very quickly to messages and are just really friendly folks. Their property is very beautiful and their dogs are fun and friendly as well. We had a really good experience staying with them and are so thankful that they shared their property with us.
We really enjoyed our stay. It was quiet and peaceful. Plenty of space to park. Was nice that they provided electricity especially during this time when the pipeline was shut down. Their dogs may bark and run up on you, but are super friendly, ours got along with theirs wonderfully. We also enjoyed all the walking options right out our front door.
I can't say how much I enjoyed the spot but the real treat was how wonderful the hosts are and how beautifully they treated me.
If you want a real treat then stop by for a visit at Krohn's paradise! You will be warmly welcomed by the nicest folks you could ever want to meet.
Thank you tkrohn, I hope our paths can cross again someday.
This host stayed with us earlier this year. They were great guests. This time we needed a place to stay while dealing with family matters. She opened her grassy field for us to set up camp. We filled our water tank and Boondocked for a few days. Gracious and very friendly hosts. Quiet, out in the country yet only minutes to the town of Smithfield. Highly recommended and look forward to staying here again.
Great quiet place with easy access for our 35’ motorhome and towed. The grass areas are nice and firm. Our host were very nice and came over to say hi and line us out and gave us some ideas on things to see. This really is a slice of paradise!
Really amazing stay. I came in and they treated me like family. We chatted and got to know each other and the other RV families that were staying there. All wonderful people. Level ground with lots of space to set up chairs. Hiking trails on their property that made for a wonderful walk in the morning.
Bless tKrogn for dealing with 3 boondockers at once. It can be time consuming for them meeting and greeting each arrival and giving us the layout of the land. They did this so graciously and were so friendly, as were their dogs after we were introduced. Beautiful, quiet expansive property for my free running German Shepard who greatly appreciated his ball time. We took the local free ferry into Williamsburg for the day WITH our RV. Thank you again for a great time.
The Krohn's are great hosts and their lovely property couldn't be more ideal for boon docking. Wide open spaces, great walking trail loop, and so quiet like you only get away from city and highways. Very accommodating to our dogs, friendly and stopped and talked a while when we arrived. Loved every minute of our stay, thank you for letting us!
We boondocked at Krohn's Paradise for a couple of nights in their field along the drive and had a great stay. No issues getting a 40' 5er in there and turned around. We enjoyed the local Windsor Castle Park, and also took a day trip to Jamestowne and Yorktown via the free ferry. (RVs can also traverse via the ferry - but check for height or length restrictions first) We enjoyed meeting the hosts while the kids visited with their dogs. Host communication was great and we couldn't have asked for a quieter place to spend a couple of nights. Thanks so much!
Thank you Krohns paradise for sharing your personal patch of peace. This was our very first time boondocking and only our second trip in our new coach. The hosts where extremely friendly and very accommodating. We were able to coordinate an awesome meet and greet with all of our dogs and all of them got along just fine, no issues at all. Very quiet, peaceful and well kept land. We had loads of space to set up our 38ft diesel pusher with tow vehicle. There was a second RV the next day and there was so much room you wouldn't even know they were there. We would love to visit this little paradise again! Thanks again!
The hosts greeted me with open arms and doggies :) Very gracious hosts and wonderful location. I did not need any hookups so was able to set-up in a field on their property. They have some very nice walking trails through their wooded property that I very much enjoyed. This location is close to a historic town and nearby recreation. I would highly recommend this location if you like rural quiet places to stay.
