We are on a hilltop, a lot of privacy with 14 acres of trees. Very quiet rural area about 1 mile from downtown Woodbury, CT.
Property regularly has animals travelling through the area including turkeys, deer, bobcats, bears, coyotes. Keep your pets and kids close.
If you have dogs, please clean up. We have bears roam through the area from time to time so keep food and pets indoor. Quiet hours are 9pm - 7am.
I can take your trash in large trash bags (13 gal bags). Leave bagged trash in the grey barrel in front of the house.
Pull through is available for smaller rigs such as Class B and shorter Class C rigs. Towables will pull right in, but will need to do a simple backing maneuver to drive out.
The GPS might report the house about 100 yards off compared to the driveway entrance, slow down as you approach so you don't miss the driveway entrance.
Entrance into the driveway is a little tight, most rigs will want to enter by driving up the main road from the south. More detailed explanation will be given when you sign up.
The driveway is long, paved and up a 7 degree incline. Smaller rigs can easily turnaround. Larger rigs can turn around in the back yard.
Roads and driveway are paved, parking is usually on the grass. There is hard packed clay and rocks under the grass so no problems with getting stuck in the mud.
The tow vehicle will be parked either on the parking lot in front of the house, or in the grass along the driveway.
Woodbury is known as the antique capital of Connecticut, if you're into antiques, you will spend at least a day or two touring the antique shops on the weekends. Yale university is 45 minutes away. A GIANT indoor flea market is a few minute drive from us, in the nearby town Bethlehem it is open on weekends or by appointment.
We had great time staying by Andy and Charlotte, great couple, highly recommended thank you.
We arrived after a long day of traveling to a wonderful welcome by Andy+Charlotte. They were such gracious hosts and very accommodating! It was so nice to share a meal with them and have a great conversation. They really went all out to make us feel welcomed and told us that we were welcome back anytime we are in the area. Highly recommend staying with them!
This family by far, renews our faith in the goodness and mercy of humanity. They made us feel like family. The beautiful lady cooked authentic Chinese, we did fireworks with them, visited their chickens and bees, and did not want to leave. The great dad was engaging and entertaining about his time in the Navy and in corporate America. I cried when we had to leave. We will visit them again again day. Or them, us💜
So this was the first trip I’ve done with Boondockers welcome and I had no idea what to expect. Andy came out as I drove up and guided me to the parking area. As it was 100 degrees, he thought it would be better if I parked near the barn so I had power and would not melt. They made dumplings as I mentioned I’d heard about them and then set off some fireworks. This morning I got a text about a black bear that just walked in front of my rv so I waited a bit to get out and walk my dog. When I finally thought it would be safe,I leash walked my dog and ended up coming about 100 ft from a young black bear. Instant wake up. Really nice visit that I will do again.
As this was our first time out with our Retro camper.....which my wife has named The Golden Ticket....we could not have asked for a better reception and stay here. What a wonderful host family....they all made us feel welcome. They helped and shared their space, as well as stories and a delicious dinner meal. We would raccomandata this host and their site if in area. And plan is to go back on the way to our future travels. Thank you to this family for making a unknown place a memorable stop that made us feel welcome.
They were waiting for us at the end of the driveway which was very helpful. We enjoyed getting to know the family and hearing their stories. Lots of room to turn around and options to park. Their place is very beautiful and would recommend!
Andy and Charlotte are such warm and welcoming hosts! Andy met us at the road and guided me to the perfect location for my 20’ trailer in the very big and beautiful, quiet area behind their home. Andy is really friendly and helpful, and they both love helping boondockers enjoy life! Charlotte made the most delicious Chinese dumplings and traditional Red Dragon Boat rice for us! They were absolutely delicious and sooo appreciated! I have had 3 other boondockers stays, and they have all been really good, but Andy and Charlotte are the best hosts ever!!! Thanks so much!!!
Lovely, generous couple welcome you to their beautiful, secluded paradise. We felt so at home and enjoy lots of boondocking talk.
Our second stay at Hilltop Paradise and the start of a wonderful friendship. We have so many common interests. It is a joy for us to visit with this vibrant young family. Thank you, Andy and Charlotte, for sharing your home with us.
One of our best stays! Andy was attentive to every part of our trip with good communication throughout. Charlotte surprised us with a very special treat. Our pup Ambyr was enthralled with the attention by their daughter. All in all, it was a most pleasant evening and a very quiet night.
This was our very first host on Boondockers welcome and they certainly have set the bar high! From the very rustic beautiful yard that was quiet and peaceful, to the homemade dumplings that were beyond delicious, to their friendly and helpful hospitality that made the stay fantastic. We would highly recommend and look forward to revisiting them someday !
