We are located at the end of a bay on a stocked, private lake, if you have an IL fishing license you are welcome to fish from our yard or off our dock. Because we are at the end, we do not care to swim in our bay but you are welcome to use our kayaks, canoe, or paddle boat, just ask. There is also a swing set for the young ones. The stars at night are amazing as it is pitch black but we are on a county road so you will hear cars going by, not often but enough to not call it totally quiet. We have 1 1/2 acres so plenty of room to roam but all pets must be on a leash. Please make sure to watch your children around the water.
We request that you pick up after your pets and please do not toss cigarette butts on the ground. Please respect the late hours, no loud music after 10 pm.
You will have to turn your rig around to leave but plenty of room for a 25 ft, even a little larger. The turn into the driveway is a little tight and a tad bit steep at the very beginning before you level off. We have no problem at all with our 25 ft, our friends have a 40ft and they have also managed.
Can park tow vehicle would be parked next to your rig either in the driveway or on the grass
There is a little general store and gas station within walking distance. We have a couple of breweries and wineries, Timber Lake Playhouse, and hiking at Mississippi Palisades Park, all approx 30 minutes away. Our community also has a golf course that is open to the public. Walmart and Menards are both 25 minutes away.
This was a beautiful and quiet place to camp. Its a bit off the beaten path but very easy to find. We set up on a spot that was just feet off the water at the end of the bay. As we pulled in they met us and suggested whewre to set up, and provided us with a water connection. The first night we were there had a very nice visit with them about our camping adventures. It was a great visit. If you have dogs as we do, they have a big lawn to play on. You owe yourself a visit to this great spot. We will certainly visit again when in the area.
I had a marvelous overnight stay and the company and conversation were icing on the cake. They have a great site right on Lake Carroll. They are very easy to get to and if you are tired of the same old, same old interstate driving, they are an easy “Blue Highway” drive to get to. Especially if you are arriving from or departing to the west. I departed westbound and the scenic roads took me past some very nice scenery and vistas. I highly recommend staying with these folks and I definitely plan on returning.
