We are lucky folks, situated right on a pond- North Pond- in the Western Maine mountains. We have space in our driveway with water and electricity for a camper 25 feet or less. We travel in the winter so we're only here from May until September. We have canoes and kayaks and a pontoon boat for an evening cruise around the pond.
This little lake is some of the best fishing around Largemouth, Smallmouth, White Perch, Yellow Perch, Pickerel, Sunfish, and more. Unless you already have a Maine fishing license, you'll need to purchase a a day pass on line.
Guests are welcome to use what we have (with prior notice and at your own risk), except the pontoon boat which needs a family member to operate per insurance requirements.
-We are pet friendly and we have two cats and a small dog. Your cats must stay inside (too easy to get lost) and dogs must be leashed at all times.
-Children are welcome and must be supervised by an adult at all times.
-The gravel road speed limit is 15 mph.
-Check with us before using canoes and kayaks- we have life jackets.
-Quiet time is after 10pm until 7am.
-Check with us before using the fire pit. We always have wood.
Take only pictures, leave only footprints :-)
We suggest that you first plug "Crockett Ridge Rd" in Norway, ME into your GPS to avoid unnecessary dirt road detours. Once on Crockett Ridge, then put in the address on Jackson Lane. We are a mile in on a well-maintained gravel road. We have a brand new paved driveway and it requires a turn around to set up. It's a bit of a squeeze, so let us know when you're coming in so we can be there to help.
There is ample room for your tow vehicle to be parked next door or we park next door to make room in our driveway.
We are often on the road in the winter ourselves and our road is too unpredictable in winter months. See you in May.
Coronavirus Info: We will be able to socially distance for mutual safety, but request masks whenever we get near each other.
Historic downtown Norway with shops and restaurants, White Mountains an hour away, numerous hiking trails near and far, too many other local activities to list.
Northponder exceeded our expectations and was our very first boondocker's welcome stay!
What a beautiful spot on North Pond...the sound of loons echoing across the pond in the morning while sipping our coffee was heaven.
Our hosts were so helpful and easygoing, helping my partner back up our Airstream when we arrived!
We took a 2-hour kayaking adventure on the pond the next morning, enjoying nature unfold right before our eyes.
Thank you so much for a wonderful experience...we will definitely see you next summer!
We had 2 wonderful nights at Northponders place. Such lovely people, very interesting and welcoming. We cannot rate them high enough and recommend them to everyone!
We hope our paths cross again in the not to distant future. 🙂
What a comfortable place with friendly and open minded hosts! We truly relaxed here and so appreciated the sharing of the fire pit, boats and kayaks, hammocks, great conversation and a super charge for our batteries after 3 weeks w/o a plug. We swam and swam and swam again. and thus charged our human batteries as well.
Thank you so much! Hope to meet you again!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stop and visit with North Ponders. They are warm and welcoming and made us feel right at home at their beautiful lakefront property.
Northponder is the sweetest couple! Their house is adorable and serene and right on the pond. They offered the use of their kayaks and dock and even invited me on their sunset cruise around the pond. The spot in their driveway was almost perfectly level and they offered me 30amp power. I’d visit with them again in a heartbeat. 10/10 would recommend!!
Wonderful, wonderful hosts!! Loved this stay. Kayaced and fished. Had a sunset ride on their pontoon boat with the hosts. The conversations with them were great. We would definitely like to come back in the future!! GO NAVY!
It's getting to the point where I've used BDW quite a bit and I can honestly say that, all things considered, this was the best stop I've had. The parking space backs up to the view and the 30 amp service during our recent heatwave was very welcome. Interesting and generous hosts but please...don't tell anyone how great it is. I don't want it booked all the time so I can't return. :)
