We have one spot in our front yard that has access to a water hook ups but not much privacy. Our road is fairly busy, so there is some road noise as well. We have the listed amenities and a huge (1.25 acres) back yard to play in. There are quaint local parks close to us. One is 1/4 mile north of us with playground equipment, farm animals and walking trails. The other is 1 1/2 miles south of us and has fishing, boat rental and a disc golf course. We are minutes away from the The Dunes National Park on Lake Michigan and about 60 miles from Chicago. We are also close to wineries and areas of interest in southern Michigan. Suggested Local Attractions:The Indiana Dunes National Park, Chicago, local vineyards and breweries.

House Rules

Length of stay and donation are negotiable. We are in the middle of a bus conversion, so, if you can pitch in at all on our project, your help is welcome. But if you want to pull in for a night or two, we are happy to have you as a guest, no obligations. We are "early to bed, early to rise". We do have neighbors, so we ask for respect and courtesy for them.

Location

Access Road Conditions: We have a paved driveway off of a main road, but you will have to back out. The entrance is on a slight incline and has a ditch on either side, so bigger rigs are a challenge. Our driveway is roughly 100 feet long and there are some low hanging branches. The spot is right in our driveway/front yard next to the house, so not really a private spot. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: Tow vehicle parking is next to the rig.

Mid-lifers pursuing the Skoolie life Details: We are a mid-life couple who love the outdoors and have a dream to explore the country in our own bus turned RV. We have two awesome kids who are barely kids anymore. As we are sending them of on their life adventures, we are planning and working towards some of our own. We like to garden, cook, run and make music. Home Town: Our hometown is close to the Indiana Dunes of Lake Michigan. We are within an hour of Chicago and some points into Michigan. We are surrounded by parks, vineyards, farms and quaint towns. Favorite Boondocking Locations: We have not had any boondocking experience yet, so we don't have any favorites to list at this time. Skills or Expertise to Share: We are musicians by training, and have many skills from life experience that include gardening/landscaping, light construction, and cooking. We have a huge willingness to help in any way we can and we take instruction well.

Very easy to find, close to gas and coffee shops. We appreciated the extra outdoor space to walk our pup.

Very nice place, the hosts are very nice. We talked about RV projects with their schooli and travel plans. Parking is level on grass.

Nice place to stop before going to Chicago. Rick showed us the “school-bus”. Beautiful work. Friendly hosts.

We had a great visit with the hosts. We toured there bus and loved it. We could have stayed longer just chatting with them. Located close to the Dunes National Park. We had a peaceful night and would love to stay again. Thank you so much!

Very neat bus build to tour and a friendly host! 4 driveways away from an AWESOME county park with some trails and a great hilltop for catching sunsets. If you stay here, it's worth the two-block walk. If you are told to park in the front yard, it can sound like you're 20 ft from a highway as early as 5am (cause you are...) but otherwise pretty easy to pull in and out of with a truck and trailer (be careful if its muddy, though!)
