This isn't a destination boondocking spot, but it will give you a safe, reasonably quiet and private location to spend the night, on a gravel pad behind a barn just off of Rt 30. There is water, and 30 amp service. The wifi will not work at the camper, but is available elsewhere on the property. There are several acres for kids to play in the grass or to walk your dog. We do not live here, but the pole building houses our rock cutting shop (just a big hobby - no commercial traffic) and we have a pretty extensive collection of rocks and minerals which we'd be happy to share with you if you have an interest!
Please stay on our side of the white fence behind your camper if wandering around the 6 acre property. We do not live here, so please respect the privacy of the neighbors! Please take all trash with you as we do not have trash pickup . We will be putting in a fire ring soon, but if it's not there yet, please refrain from a campfire.
If you're interested, there is a box on the outside of the building near the water hookup that contains some information on the area and a local map.
We are just off a main road, with a gravel driveway leading behind our building. There is room to turn around in a gravel lot.
Please park the tow vehicle in the parking lot behind the brown pole building
We're a good stop if you're on your way somewhere! Rt. 30 is a major east/west corridor. Gettysburg is an easy 18 mile drive to the west. Lancaster (PA Dutch Country) is 34 miles to the east, Hershey PA is 42 miles north. Baltimore MD is around 50 miles south.
More locally, there's a huge farmer's market/flea market about 5 miles away (open weekends) & good antiquing in the village of New Oxford. York PA is known for factory tours (like the Harley Davidson factory) and it's history as the first US Capitol. There is golf nearby. The spot is in a safe and semi-rural area. It is a few miles to gas/shopping/restaurants.
We use Boondockers Welcome frequently and these hosts have become our favorite. The site is tucked away nicely and gives you a quiet atmosphere and a great view of the mountains and the sunsets. The hosts get an A+ for their hospitality and generosity. If you are looking in the area, look no further, this is one of the best spots for miles around!
My stay at the Parockcutters was wonderful. The hosts were super nice and took time out of their busy schedule to take me on a tour of the extensive rock and mineral collections. Very informative. They provided me with suggestions of things to do as well as supplied a book with brochures of things to do in surrounding areas. I enjoyed talking with the hosts and spending time with them. I feel like I have made new friends and “A” shares a lot of the same interests I have. I look forward to staying in touch and hiking in the future with her. What a wonderful couple and they were both very accommodating. I actually ended up extending my stay an extra night to explore the area more. I would definitely recommend a stop here you won’t be disappointed.
We had a great stay with PaRockCutters. Their location is beautiful with convenient amenities. If we are traveling through this way again, we hope to visit them again!
We didn't get to meet, cause we were busy, & them with a new relative!!!
Super host! Great communication. 30a was terrific to have, and didn't need water but great to have available. Pretty darn level and easy to back into! Nice n quiet. Appreciate the stay.😊
30 amp service, running water and
an empty gray tank = heaven. These folks have the most fascinating hobby and it involves rocks! I was intrigued.
Great location, great site, very well organized and attentive hosts. Backing into the site was very easy. We highly recommend this stop.
What more could you ask for--a very quiet place to stay (despite the busy road), and wonderful hosts with fascinating hobbies. We hope to see these rock hounds again someday!
Geodes, and agate, and crystals, oh my!! We had a lot of fun talking to the hosts and seeing their collection. They were very generous too; I think my rig must weigh 174lbs more than when we arrived.
The site was level also, but with a barn full of rocks next door, who really cares? ;)
Homeschoolers you want to stop here for sure!
We backed up into a perfectly level site. With water/30amp, a great set-up. Directly off Route 30, but once behind the barn & in our trailer the street noise is gone. We have nights of restful sleep under the stars! Our 1yr old puppy loved the PA countryside to walk, run & roll around in the freshly mowed grass.
Enjoyed our chats with our Hosts & a quick tour of their Rock Collection - wow! So glad we found this place & sure hope to return again as we visit this area in the future. Thanks so much for everything - you are so awesome & what we love the most about traveling the BW way.
Got to experience a real Pennsylvania Thunder-boomer while staying on this beautiful, peaceful, safe property. Thank you so much for hosting me and my rv for a safe night stay and a wonderful chance to chat and tour your collection. I look forward to meeting you again and I hope others take this opportunity.
Thank you both so much, we had an extremely pleasant time.
Highly recommended if you are in the area, the site was well prepared and very peaceful.
These members are an invaluable asset to the Boondocking community. The only wish would have been that you joined sooner!
