This is a rural country setting with many trees. It is about 75 ft down our gravel driveway to the camper port (35' x 16' x 14') that one can park under. The area has fresh gravel to park the rig on. We have a small outdoor woodburner along with kindling and wood.
We have an electric line (15A) ran from our garage to the camper port for small power draw items.
We have a friendly cat (Leo).
Expect to see dear in the yard.
Please do not run generator from 10PM until 8AM.
Electric is only 15A only.
Our location is about 7 miles (10 minutes) from I-70. It is off a paved clear 2 lane county road on a chip-n-seal township road in a country setting. There are some minor hills on the county road but nothing to steep and there aren't many sharp corners.
Watch the tree branches on our road.
Required to pull in our driveway a short distance and then back in under the camper port.
The carport is about 70 ft from the road and 200 ft from our home.
There is a one 35' L x 16' W x 13'6" H camper port to park under. There is space beside the port to park a tow vehicle. The only electric plug is by this spot.
There is also flat grass areas beside the the camper port and across the driveway that would allow space for a additional rigs.
We do travel some ourselves and the spot may not be available at those times.
Spring Valley campground nearby with dump service. Fee was $10.
There is a nice local vineyard not far from our place. This vineyard probably cannot accommodate a rig but only the tow vehicle. There is another vineyard not far away also. Both have great views.
There are other restaurants at the exit also.
Salt Fork State Park, The Great Guernsey Trail, Coal Ridge Park, and the The Wilds are not far from us.
Many thanks to my host for sharing his beautiful property and level and covered parking space. Most enjoyable.
It was very quiet and peaceful. Loved seeing the deer in the yard. Host was very nice and helpful about the area. The roads were challenging for this flatlander, but slow and steady got us there. Hope to visit again in the future.
Very nice place and host. Enjoyed the surrounding area attractions. The roads were curvy and small for us flatlanders, but manageable. Have a 26' C. We hope to visit again.
Had a great stay at Shade2U2. Just the rest I needed after a full day of Interstate 70. Very quiet and beautiful property. Spent the evening with visiting deer and awoke with them in the morning. Nice shady spot. Thank you for your kindness in letting me spend the night at your place. Much appreciated!
Great location with lots of deer. It's the country with narrow country roads but we had no trouble with our 30' travel trailer. Good communication.
Very nice covered spot, plenty of clearance and 15 amp outlet. Sorry we didn't get to meet the host. Excellent communication helped us get there, and get situated.
Very helpful and informative hosts. The site was prepped and ready for us. The covered site allowed us to open up the windows despite some rain. Great recommendations were made for local eating which turned out to be spot on. As if they couldn't do more they provided great insights to the local state park which included a dog beach for the pup which she absolutely loved. We will definitely be requesting this spot again if they will have us.
Shady Rest is aptly named! The property is beautiful with trees bordering it. Nice & cool w a great breeze so that no A/C was needed. Cooled our 37' 5th wheel from 83 to 74 fairly quickly! Such a quiet & peaceful setting after too many campgrounds along w a long drive! Our hosts were great to talk to & have gone above & beyond to make their guests comfortable! In addition to an amazing carport, there is 15 amp electricity plus a fully stocked firepit & LOTS of running room for your dog! I look forward to returning & sitting around that firepit!! Thank you, Shady Rest hosts for a GREAT stay!
Our gracious host met us upon arrival. The spots were level and grassy, one spot was on gravel under a high canopy with 15 amp service. Our hosts even invited us to a party they were hosting, but we were so tired from a day of exploring we declined.
We needed a rest day between 2 long haul drives and this was the perfect place! Lots options for parking: grass in sun, shaded by trees, or under a carport with power outlet. Hosts were friendly, and hospitable. A quiet site in a wooded setting. Follow turn by turn directions from host and you will avoid gps wandering. Our dogs got along so they were able to play in the large yard. Highly recommend this quiet stop just off rt 70 in Ohio!
Friendly hosts, beautifully country location with a covered parking space with 115 v electric. Follow the hosts not gps directions for easy access from interstate 70. Would definitely stay again when traveling 77 or 70 .
Great evening and nights rest. Wonderful hosts and site. Enjoyed meeting Heidi and Leo as well.
Our hosts were great communicating with us prior to our stay. We were greeted by our hosts and their very sweet German Shorthair Pointer, Heidi, oh, and if you thought Garfield was cool wait till you meet Leo!
Expect horizon lines and blind corners on some of the scenic area country roads. Their property is so beautiful, and quiet, with excellent flat areas to chose from to set up. How wonderful it was enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning and watching the deer cut through their property.
We got to enjoy a night around the fire getting to know our hosts, sharing adventures and they gave us suggestions for the “Bests” in the area. Their recommendations for eating at 360 Burger was a hit...both days, as was the Great Guernsey Rail-Trail and hikes in Salt Fork State Park. Their generosity and hospitality set a high bar, and we so appreciated all of it!
We hope to see them again in the future, either here or at our location in NH.
Shade2u2 are awesome hosts. They are friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Shady Rest is located in a peaceful country setting. Their road is narrow but finding their location was not difficult. We would recommend following the hosts Direction Details NOT a GPS.
We stayed for 5 peaceful nights and would definitely stay again if in the area. We enjoyed sitting outside and listening to a variety of birds singing. We parked under the camper port and it helped keep our 5th wheel cooler on the sunny 90 dg days.
Shade2u2 were perfect hosts! They greeted us when we arrived, along with their sweet dog, offered to help if we needed it, but then left us to our privacy. The location is lovely and devoid of traffic or noise. The stars were incredible!
The area to park was level and had an electric hookup close by.
My dog and I had a lovely morning walk down a dirt road....saw some of deer. It was a quiet nights sleep.
This was our first stay at a boondocker welcome location. The owners were amazing hosts, they even gave my toddler a package of s’mores stuff to use at the fire pit they provide. The dog and cat were great playmates for our little one. We really appreciate all the hospitality while relaxing at your beautiful country setting.
The hosts were great. Enjoyed talking to them. My Golden Retriever Melt has a new German Shorthaired Pointer girlfriend. Very quiet place to sleep and relax. Beautiful area and scenic farms along a nearby country road.
