We are a ski resort that has free parking for RV's in the off season at the top of the mountain with amazing views of the Ottawa National forest .
Turn off US2 onto Indianhead road. The road ends in our parking lot making us easy to find. When you see a green chairlift, you are in the right spot. There are two football field sized flat gravel parking lots.
No designated spots or hook ups. Park anywhere you would like! We just ask that you do not park in front of the lodge/restaurant. Park on the backside by the ponds to the south of the parking lot or the west. Two large flat lots with plenty of parking available.
All dates are open! We do not have hookups or designated spots. There are two large flat gravel lots available for parking anywhere. First come, first serve.
Fishing, waterfalls, historical sites, ORV trails, biking and hiking trails.
There is a large area for multiple sized rigs. There was one other fifth wheel when we arrived. this allow us to take th Motorcycle out and go check out Lake of the Clouds along Lake Superior beach and also enjoy the ride back via HWY 519. Ski resort bar and restaurant was open. Would say here again.
Great location near the Porkies, easy to find locations, beautiful views, plenty of space to spread out, campfire rings available, great food/drink at the restaurant... Couldn't have asked for more! Thanks, Big Snow!!
One of the most beautiful and peaceful places we have ever stayed. Thank you so much for having us we enjoyed every moment of it.
Had a wonderful prime rib dinner! Music and drinks followed at the sky bar! Good time and very peaceful night! Thankyou
Great location for a short stay over. Super easy to get too and a very open and large area for a quite a few rigs. Very quiet and you can stop in for a bite to eat and drink!
We had a wonderful time while at Big Snow. We chose to park in the grassy area with a prime view of the restaurant and ski lift. We were more than comfortable. Thanks again.
Big open lot to park in. Sky Bar had awesome food and service.
We enjoyed our stay very much! You are boondocking in a ski lodge (gravel) parking lot, at the top of the mountain, not the base. There is plenty of room to pick a spot and it was very peaceful. Everyone we encountered - staff and visitors - were super friendly.
There are excellent views of the ski slopes and the Ottawa Natl Forest. It is located just off the highway with 3 towns within reach. It is close to a lot of recreational activities. The resort even has a private ORV park.
The lodge was serving food, so we enjoyed a few meals on the deck watching the sunset. They even had live music on the weekend.
There is a dump station at Sunday Lake Campground in Wakefield for $5.
07/08/21 to 07/12/21:
This is just a great place to stay. Lots of room to spread out. An excellent solar angle for those with solar panels. (No services available at this time. Check with Curry RV Campground on the West side of Ironwood for a dump station ($10) and a water fill ($10). Not sure trash can be deposited here though. There is a brochure at the entrance. For larger rigs, it can be a challenge driving thru the park. The camp host should be consulted if you use a parking space to dump and fill instead of the regular dump station. We used the one on the hill. Its possible. We are a 42' fifth wheel. Just walk it before you attempt)
We enjoyed the restaurant on 3 of 4 days stay. Michael was a great server. You'll be glad you dined here.
Thursday: It was all-you-can-eat Tacos for $10.
Saturday: BBQ Ribs
Sunday: Fried Chicken
Everything was great.
Views are great. Hummingbirds on the patio deck. Met others from Boondockers Welcome and Harvest Hosts.
Overall, just a great time. With the Host's OK, we will continue to return often!
Thank you Host for allowing us to stay!
Pulled in and found a flat spot with five other RVs already there. Safe, clean and great views. Recommended!
It was "relatively" quiet over the 4th of July weekend and that's what we wanted with Guide Dogs. Close to town for laundry and groceries, easy in and easy out of the big flat parking lot. Don't expect a quick response as it is a business. (We were an hour away when we got the confirmation) No water available for fill, but trash dumpster near the restaurant .
Huge gravel parking lot at the top of a ski resort. Gorgeous views, super quiet. The dog loved running around the slopes.
A ski resort resort turns into boondockers paradise! Super easy to find and accessible. Overlooking a national Forest. Very quiet and peaceful and I felt very safe.
Parking is in the lot of a ski resort. The dog really enjoyed running up and down the slopes! Good food and friendly service in the bar and grill.
Very friendly people and you can see for miles on top of this hill. Restaurant at the location.
My return sightseeing trip taking in the beautiful scenery of the UP landed me at bigsnow right at suppertime!! I scheduled ahead that day for a possible stopover and got a quick response that it would not be a problem. Upon arrival I found the bar/restaurant open. I was hoping they were having their recommended rib special was on but that Falls on Sat. Instead I opted for that nights Taco special with onion rings and a couple cold ones!! Friendly, safety conscious help and good food made for a comfortable and fulfilling evening. I was told to park anywhere in the level gravel parking lot. Being the only stay over that night I picked a nice level spot overlooking a small pond...Quiet and peaceful..Happy with a full belly and safe spot to stay I slept soundly as the wind rocked me to sleep!!!
What a convenient location with beautiful views of the fall colors. We also dined in the restaurant for the Saturday night rib and chicken special, it was delicious, reasonable, and a generous portion. We parked at the edge of the parking lot and it was very private, we even enjoyed a campfire in the ring of rocks.
We had a great stay at Big Snow. We had a nice spot to park to RV's around a fire ring near the trees. Very quite and peaceful. The view of the fall colors was awesome. We ate at the Sky Bar on Sat night. Had the Ribs and Chicken special. Great food and atmosphere at a great price. Will strongly consider staying here again if the opportunity avails.
Quiet, spacious and fairly level lot to park in. Easy to find and get to...Beautiful mountain views..I heard from other campers that the dinner specials were excellent but wasn't open the day I was there.😔 There will another time for sure!!! Until then: Thank-u...Stay Safe...and "Savor the Flavors"!!
We enjoyed our night at the Indianhead Resort. Beautiful scenery! Very peaceful and quiet.
Thank you so much for an easy, carefree stay!! Plenty of room to spread out! Quickest response as well. Never got to meet the host but the space was greatly appreciated!
Easy to get to, wide open lot. Nice to have a bar and grill as an option. Friendly bartender.
Extremely Big Rig Friendly!
The resort itself is beautifully parked high upon a mountain top. Activities are ongoing in the park in preparation for ski season. There is a restaurant/bar on site. It’s an easy 2-minute walk. Covid is still going around at this time. Masks are required to enter. The parking lot is mostly level with very hard packed gravel. Parking near the edge, there are lots of grassy areas and 2 ponds. There will be no issues in rain or snow at the resort. The leaves are just beginning to change colors here. The stars at night are awesome although the lights from the resort can blind them somewhat. Just look in the opposite direction and you WILL see the Milky Way!
It's only about a 5-8 minute ride back to town for general supplies. For a larger town, its just 15 minutes or so to Bessemer and Ironwood. There is a Walmart in Ironwood.
We never met the Host in person, but he is very helpful and responsive to email. This is a hidden gem for sure. We would absolutely without question stay here again with the Host’s OK! Thank you Host for allowing us the opportunity!
Really nice place right at the top of the ski lift. Nice and flat plenty of room to park. Much appreciate it.
