a large parking lot outside a busy community market. we are fishing village, we have lots of beauty but not a lot going on, 10 miles from route 1 in midcoast maine, then 15 miles north to rockland, 15 miles south to damariscotta. No hook ups, just a safe place to get off the road for a night. we have 2 outdoor decks and a bocci court and a small backyard you will have access to, you can set up lawn chairs and a bbq there. We have an outdoor sink - very small, and a faucet and hose. an indoor toilet while the store is open and a porta potty across the street. We also have a small book swap box,, take a book or leave a book.. AND we even have an AED device and as i am an old Registered Nurse,, i know how to use it We! (Never needed it here yet!) We are mainly becoming hosts to meet RVers and learn the lifestyle. We live on site of the store so we are almost always here. generators and slide outs are welcome if they fit in parking lot and not overly loud generator over night.
just be courteous, the store is across from the town hall and in a neighborhood type setting, so just no loud noises after 11 etc. Maine is a medical and recreational marijuana legal state, so feel free to enjoy in your camper or our private backyard.PLEASE DONT leave a message on our cell, they often dont come through here on the peninsula. Either message here or TEXT our cell, no voice messages please.
we are at the crossroads of route 220 South and 97 East, the roads are narrow, with little to no shoulder. we live on a peninsula so its tight. We get deliveries every day for our store with huge trucks and everyone fishes here so we always we have bait trucks and lobster trucks driving back and forth. But its a simple large parking lot, we are not a campground, no hookups, just a safe place to pull in, we have an outdoor sink, an outdoor hose, an indoor toilet during store hours,- no showers etc, you are welcome to the wifi and of course shop in the market and outdoor shed if you need anything. We are becoming hosts to learn about the full time RV life, of which, we hope to become a part of in a few years time.
we have a fairly big parking lot, if you pull in during peak store hours it might be hard to accomodate you, but if you come early in the day or late in the day we should have a spot for you and your truck. obviously you will be calling first to see if we have the space
we are a family run store, we live on site. we live in a neighborhood type setting so guests need to act accordingly. we will take each request as it comes in as we are almost always here
everything is about fishing here, lobsters abound!! We are small peninsula our street ends in a loop so its a great quick walk tp the end of the peninsula & back to our store. If you walk down every street it ends at the water. A ten minute to the town landing has the public wharf folks use to get to the islands or kayak off to sea. The private wharfs are very open to visitors and if u have cash its the best place to buy lobster. If u arrive at the perfect time you may be cooked a lobstah down there and invited to hang out. Ask around if anyone is willing to take u out and u can get a front row seat to lobstering, they leave early however. This is a working harbor, it can be loud, smelly & weed is around. But its real and comfortable. Everyone is friendly. Ayup, its Friendship, Maine
We had a wonderful time with Joan and Ernie. We stayed in the parking lot next to their general store. This the hub of the town of Friendship. The store is well provisioned and keeps the couple quite busy. Still, they were attentive to our requests — we did need power to recharge our batteries.
The town itself is charming. The wharfs are within walking distance with many interesting Maine houses and buildings along the way. Lobsters are only a wish away. Plenty of interesting day trips surround this town .
Joan and Ernie have an RV but struggle to find enough time to use it. We tried to encourage them. We love this place and would most certainly come again should our travels allow.
The stop was greatly appreciated. As the host said very busy spot during the day, things quiet down after the store closes.
We enjoyed our stay here and loved visiting with the hosts! Beautiful area and the food from the store was delicious!
I had a great stay here! The hosts were incredibly accomodating and gave lots of tips. The Boston Italian sub is particularly tasty in their general store.
Just a great experience! I'm so glad I stopped in Friendship! I'd happily stay again!
This is a wonderful small town that is fun just walk around and walk down to the wharf and see all of the wonderful boats that are out there fishing for lobster. The host have a wonderful little grocery store than anything you need is there and in such very nice condition neat and clean and even gourmet things and wonderful fresh fruits and vegetables. So seldom found in a small town
Joan and Ernie were great hosts and the place was a lot of fun. Even though they were really busy running what looked like the only store in town they still made time to stop and chat when they had a minute. Being able to run in the store when we woke up for coffee and a sweet was a big plus. Walked down to the waterfront and bought lobster to cook one night - YUM!!!! This was out first stop in Maine and we were determined to have lobster that night but when we walked in the store to find out about that and saw and smelled the pizzas they were cooking we couldn’t resist so we had pizza the first night and it was one of the best pizzas we have ever had! Also, the lady in the back making the pizzas was really sweet and funny so the whole experience was 5 star!!!!!
What a sweet little spot to stay at! I am currently riding the East Coast Greenway Route and it happens to be only a few miles from this location. This allowed me to continue riding from Damariscotta to Camden without have to move my RV! One bonus attribute of this location is that they have a little market with great sandwiches and other items I needed, which was very convenient!
The hosts were very friendly and I truly appreciate their hospitality!
From the moment we arrived I was trying to figure out how to move here and join this great community. And I want to work in the store. This place has it all, great pizza, awesome sandwiches, everything -EVERYTHING you'd need to restock your provisions so don't go to the store before you get there! Everyone was very friendly and I enjoyed the interactions with all the locals. Great level spot to park, picnic tables, fire pit, outdoor games and FOOOOOD.
Despite the continuous all day rain, joanerniecoletti came out to greet us when we arrived and made sure we were all settled in. It's a cute spot in a quiet fishing village, and a perfect spot on our tour up the Maine coast. We were hoping for a bit of delicious, fresh lobster and their lobster rolls did not disappoint! Would have been nice if it weren't soggy all day, as they have a bocce court out back to hang out in and we didn't get a chance to really chat with our hosts, but we were able to take advantage of the sunny morning to take a stroll along to the waterfront. Would definitely recommend!
Great hosts and easy overnight stop at their general store. The walk to Friendship Harbor is a treat… one of the best authentic Maine harbors we’ve ever seen. Our rv was the perfect place to “people watch” and appreciate a small Maine town. Totally fun to have great access to good food. Thanks so much.
This laid back family ,so busy in their eclectic store, were fantastic hosts..
We were able to visit the mid coast region easily on day trips..Pemaquid Peninsula was our favorite. Thanks for all the tips, Joan and Ernie, and 1000 thank you's!
Don't miss this special place!
Host of “The Corner” welcomed us and helped us park in the preferred spot. Great having the store for goodies, including ice cream (there was a heatwave going on during our 2-day stay!). The next day we took a beautiful hour’s drive down to Pemaquid Point lighthouse Park, which is incredibly beautiful. Also enjoyed walking around Friendship, which with the road ending as a loop at the harbor was easy to do. It’s a beautiful small town, and the hosts’ general store is its hub. Oh, and their deli sandwiches were great…recommend the Boston sub. Thank you to “The Corner” for a great time!
The market was our first time being in a parking lot boondocking. We played Bocce and Cornhole and we
enjoyed some of the pizza and sandwiches that are made fresh in the market with Boars head products. They make breakfast sandwiches that are top quality and the walk to the harbor is very pleasant. An all around good stay. Thank you for everything.
Loved talking with the hosts but also met a lot of town locals and everyone was so welcoming. Do not miss the Boston sub sandwich, the steak bomb and make sure you get the fries...best fries I have had and I eat alot of fries. Thanks for hosting.
Very nice hosts! This is a busy hub that serves the community and passerbys. Have everything from hot food to produce, beer/wine, and dry goods. Quiet location and perfect for a stopover in Friendship. Thank you!
If you are fortunate enough to book a stay at The Corner, do so! What a wonderful opportunity to eat great food, shop for quality groceries, and mingle with kind people. Everyone we talked to was eager to talk story. I had a great conversation with one the co-owners. He made us feel so welcome. And what a nice surprise to find a cauliflower crust homemade pizza at the Corner! Mmmmm…
We fell in love with this town, Friendship ME. Wallaces was the perfect little spot to bike ride around and explore this fishing village. And resupply at the store with local delights, especially the local ice cream! Thank you for the wonderful over night Joannie! The kids enjoyed the bocce ball too!
It was so nice to get off the main path traveled and see this beautiful area. The store is wonderfully stocked and love all the local products. Our breakfast sandwich was delicious and really enjoyed the outside sitting area. We enjoyed the walk to the harbor and our 32 mile bike ride. Thank you having for us!
We had a great time in Friendship and our hosts were so welcoming, kind and generous! A perfect little overnight stay, would highly recommend.
Very pleasant Sunday overnight. Joan greeted us and gave us parking options and permission to take our dog to the grass area around the back. Took a walk down past the Lobster Co-Ops with views overlooking the bay. The local residents have some wonderful gardens. Morning breakfast sandwiches from the Market were very good. Great overnight, thank you :-)
We enjoyed our visit to Friendship, a welcoming fishing village. Also enjoyed meeting the community store owners, our hosts. The store was very busy and the center of community activity, but after closing at 8, a quiet and safe spot to overnight. We enjoyed biking down to the waterfront and talking to some locals. This is not a tourist trap, but a real lobster fishing village, and an educational and fun stop. Highly recommend, if you want to get a feel of how real folks live in Maine.
We had booked a campground a little further up the coast for the week. Then we realized we could leave earlier, but there were no sites open earlier at the campground. While exploring our options, we found Boondockers. Then we found that Joan and Ernie had a spot not far away. We decided to try it out and we ended up having a great stay at their market in Friendship. They gave us some good guidance as to what to check out; we enjoyed walking to the harbor and seeing all the working lobster boats and crew. We also enjoyed some awesome lobster rolls and sandwiches from their market. And the town; the name must set the stage here. Everyone that went by either waved or said hi to us; very friendly area. Thanks so much Joan and Ernie! It was great to meet you both. :)
A lovely spot to relax and enjoy the local architecture, beautiful gardens and the harbor. The hosts were very kind and helpful. They own a very busy market/Deli with a large assortment of foods. Nice spot.
The parking lot was a nice quiet place to stay the night. Their store is amazing - they have so much in there! Only downside is that a customer blocked me in for a few minutes in the morning but he left soon anyway.
Thanks for the stay. Nice quiet town. The store has everything a traveller needs. Good luck in your own travels.
It was a great stay with Joan and Ernie at their corner store in the sweet village of Friendship! We enjoyed chats while walking our dogs or a quick visit in the store. Great level lot provided a perfect start and ending to our days of adventure in the area. And did I mention the yummy food inside!? Plus anything else one may need. I even found my favorite coffee stocked. I hope to be back again~ fun stay, even in the rain.
Great location ,good people what else can you ask .highly recommended.
We had an excellent visit, with very welcoming and friendly members to greet us. The location was clean, with yummy food available. What a lovely place to explore.
Very friendly little town. The store has awesome sandwiches. The host was very accommodating & friendly.
I had a wonderful stay at “The Corner”- a great little shop and very welcoming hosts ! Their pup was so cute too- I hope to be back their way soon!
Our hosts were casual and pleasant company, considering they are running the town’s only general market. Interesting conversation and good guidance on some nice.off-leash hiking at Martin’s Point. Only down side is you’ll be sleeping about 200 feet from a busy three way intersection, not too too busy at night..Friendship Maine is a beautiful well kept secret you may want to experience for yourself. The store has a very nice kitchen and menu.
Joan and Ernie were so nice and welcoming. The store was great for provisioning, and it is no doubt a vital part of this small Maine community. I slept soundly and safely. I hope to come back and have more time to chat with these lovely hosts.
We had never heard of Friendship ME until we saw their BW listing. Super nice hosts. You park in the parking lot at their store, do supplies and morning coffee could not be more convenient. We walked down to the harbor (maybe 15 minutes) and it was beautiful. We will come back when we are heading up the coast again.
Thank you for being part of the Beta testing for the Boondockers Welcome iOS app.
We spent one night at The Corner, and joanerniecoletti were fantastic hosts. As we love midcoast Maine, The Corner was a fantastic find and a stop we're sure to return to in the future. If you stay, be sure to treat yourself to the deli subs made on site--we each bought The Boston sub, and it was one of the best sandwiches I've had (high praise from this Italian!!). Thank you so much!
Can't say hospitality gets more genuine with these two great hosts! Was the perfect stop over for the night (or I suggest longer) with leisure hike down to the docks with the pups to explore a little in the morning to get a quiet introduction to typical Maine life. The place is a hub of activity while open otherwise very quiet and back yard available too for privacy. Right next to market so convenient to restock on good seasonal and local supplies, killer deli, hot/cold food, free little library to trade a book or two and the lobster roll absolutely FANTASTIC! Definitely would love to circle back and keep in touch in hopes our travel plans overlap!
This is my 3rd attempt at leaving this reference. Staying at The Corner was one of our most unique experiences. Friendly town, friendly people and generous host family. We highly recommend The Boston from the deli. My wife and I each got a large serving, planning to make two meals from them. They were so good we both ate ours all in one setting!
Absolutely fabulous location to relax or explore the coast of Maine. The quintessential lobster village. The food at the corner was really good. Our hosts were wonderful and we wish them well in their future travels.
We had a comfortable quick over night stay and loved the store. We got some cool local finds and great coffee. Wish we would have been there earlier to have dinner the fresh made food looks amazing!
This was a perfect spot to experience a small fishing village. Lobster traps galore and the walk to the water was lovely. I could get anything I needed at the little grocery store where I boondocked.
The hosts were very excited to meet me and I hope to be back.
We had a fun time exploring a new area and visiting with our hosts! They were very welcoming and have us some great tips about sights in the area. Everything was well set up for our camper- lots of outdoor space and easy access. Our hosts run a delightful general store - enjoyed some delicious Boston subs and other treats. Highly recommend this overnight spot!
Such nice people warm,, friendly and generous with their time and their delicious deli.
Excellent experience at The corner with joanernie. Hosts were very welcoming and hospitable! Enjoyed our visit! They went above and beyond making sure we were comfortable and recommending things to do in this area of Maine. Their location is conveniently located in a quant fishing village with safe parking right next to their popular market store, which has a little of everything, including a deli with Boars Head meats, & locally made breads & baked goods. They also allowed us to sign into their Wifi & fill up our water tanks.
If you get a chance to stop at this small town country store you won't regret it. Joanernie made sure we had everything we needed. As Joan said, if they don't have it, we don't need it!
The area itself is beautiful and quiet. Thanks for a wonderful Boondocking experience.
