We know it's different strokes for different folks. If you'd prefer a quiet evening to yourselves, that's perfectly understandable. If you'd like to ask questions about the area or just visit, we're happy to do that, too--weather permitting and at a safe distance for all of us. Please understand we're pretty strict about social distancing because we're looking out for B's mom.
You have your choice of two spots. Both are on blacktop and both require some maneuvering and reversing. (We'll only host one unit at a time, so you can actually decide which spot you want after you arrive, if you prefer.)
If you choose the first spot, you'll pull up into the driveway, back into the turn-around, pull forward to straighten up, then reverse approximately 50 feet. The spot is fairly level, though some minor leveling might be desired. (Many boondockers don't even disconnect their rig from their tow vehicle.) You'll be facing forward for departure. You'll also enjoy good shade from mature trees in this spot, except when the sun is directly overhead. This spot is approximately 250 feet from the road that will have light traffic all throughout the night. 30-amp ELECTRIC IS AVAILABLE at this spot. WATER IS ALSO AVAILABLE, but you'll need approximately 50 feet of hose to connect.
If you choose the second spot, you'll pull up into the driveway and then back into the turn-around. The spot is fairly level, though some leveling will be required. You'll be facing forward for departure. There is very little shade in the second spot. It's approximately 200 feet from the road that will have light traffic all throughout the night. NO WATER OR ELECTRIC is available at this spot.
Please note: We live at the end of a small airport runway. Some planes may take off or arrive, mostly personal aircraft. Medical helicopters also use this airport and may take off or land during the night.
A fenced DOG AREA IS AVAILABLE. Please pick up after your dog(s) and NEVER leave them unattended. Please use a leash between your camper and the fenced area as there are dogs (friendly!) next door who sometimes escape.
Another note: If a guest is a licensed ham radio operator, a connection for HF antennas is available. As a rule, available antennas include 80/40 meters and usually something for 20 meters. The connection point is 30 feet from spot #1. Please give advance notice if you intend to make use of the antennas. If you have any questions about the antennas, feel free to message us.
* Please plan on arriving before dark.
* No generators after 10 pm.
* Please place trash in outside bin.
* Pets must be leashed when outside your camper.
Located approximately 3 miles from I-75. The last 1.75 miles is on a rural two-lane road with typical widths, (lack of) shoulders, ditches, etc. However, RVs, school busses, and semis travel the road routinely. Just go slowly. Please be sure to follow the directions we give you as the shortest distance by GPS isn't always the best. If you're comfortable towing a vehicle on a road like this (we do), our driveway is long enough and level enough to disconnect after you turn in.
Plenty of room to park, either on grass (weather permitting) or blacktop.
5 minutes from Levi Jackson Wilderness Road Park (formerly a state park) for walking paths, mini golf, reproduction watermill, small historic museum, picnic areas, Treetop Adventure (zip lines, rope bridges, etc.), and 5.5 mile mountain bike trail. (Some attractions may not currently be open.)
30 minutes from Laurel River Lake.
45 minutes from Cumberland Falls.
The hosts were very accommodating and helpful. They sent us very detailed directions to their place which made it easy to find. The site was nicely black topped and level. We will be back since this is on a route we take a couple of trimes a year.
B&P provided excellent, detailed communications well in advance of our stay. They placed orange cones at the end of the driveway and helped us do a 3-point turn to back into a paved , shady spot with access to water, electricity and WiFi! It was a treat getting to know these delightful folks and their beautiful Lab Floyd! They gifted us a 6-pack of locally manufactured ginger ale. We enjoyed exploring the nearby Levi Jackson park with its library of mountain millstones. Can’t say enough about B&P’s generosity and thoughtfulness! We are very grateful!
We enjoyed our short overnight stay off I-75. Great RV setup in beautiful setting. We hope to stay again as our travel allows. Great BBQ restaurant close to their house as well as Levi Jackson Wilderness Park.
met us in driveway, helped us back in, and we learned so much from them. definitely coming back. I hope Boondockers Welcome never changes if these are tipical hosts. I may even become a host because of them.
This is a great host and our second time to stay. Thankful we could stay on short notice. Hosts greet and have parking and hookup assistance streamlined. Such a great couple that we hope to see again!
While BW hosts are always generous and kind, B & P raise the bar. In addition to great instructions, they had an orange cone at the driveway and were both waiting to welcome us and guide us in to a shady spot so the air conditioner wouldn't have to work so hard. We had a great conversation and would definitely stay here again.
Wonderful host and great spot for rest. Peaceful spot with easy access just a few minutes from the highway. The host were very friendly and easy to setup a spot with. I'll be back!
We so enjoyed meeting B + P and staying at Halfway to Somewhere! We had a great conversation outside under the shelter during a heavy rain and discovered B and I have a lot of common background. The dogs LOVED running in the fenced area. We would love to visit again!
What a helpful, hospitable couple. A fantastic place to park and did not have to disconnect my truck. B helped park my camper and put air in a low tire. He helped connect the water and electric. I was so tired and really appreciated the help. They live near the Ale8 plant in Winchester, KY and gave me a six pack.....refreshing soda. If you are near London, definitely stop by.
We enjoyed our stay and felt very welcome! The area is beautiful farmland, but easy access with our Airstream. Floyd their dog let Bentley use his fenced yard for a nice romp. They were very helpful as well! We will be back if we’re in the area!
B&P are wonderful hosts. Great communication and they greeted us upon arrival, answered any questions and offered local things to do. We hope to visit with them again some day. I was impressed with their detailed information that benefits new and seasoned travelers.
Awesome boondockers welcome hosts! We enjoyed our stay at Halfway to Somewhere and our visit with P and B. Floyd and Baxter would have fun together so maybe next time...
Our first BW stay has made us eager to stay again and host other BWs at our home.
P and B . thanks more than we can say! You guys rock! (as the gkids would say)
Such a lovely setting to spend the night & wake the next morning to the views. Hosts have to be the best example of southern hospitality that I’ve ever encountered! They have inspired me to become a host in the future & they will surly be the example to follow. Much gratitude for the peaceful setting, warm welcome & safety for a good nights sleep. Thank you , thank you, thank you
A wonderful place to spend the night! Sheep and sheepdogs...horses...and fantastic hosts!
Wow! This was an amazing experience with wonderful hosts. Spaces are as described. Views of neighboring farms are beautiful. Fenced yard for pups to roam in, water and electricity. Quiet location, yet close to civilization. Hosts were very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely stay again.
What an incredible experience this was staying with B & P halfway to nowhere! From the detailed driving instructions so quickly after our stay was accepted to the orange cones at the driveway visible from the road and both of them outside and welcoming as we parked-even as it was starting to sprinkle!
VERY gracious hosts - I think we're completely spoiled now! I hope our other boondocking hosts are half as gracious. We had some tire trouble on our way which detained us, but they communicated with us pleasantly as we took care of business.
peaceful location yet convenient for shopping and even rv parts. I would go out of my way to spend time with them again!
P B and Floyd are the best! Warm, kind, generous, just the best!! They sent me detailed directions just after my request was accepted. They answered any questions immediately. They met me at the end of their driveway where they placed red cones so I would not go past them. They helped me get sited and offered water, electric, a box of books to pick through, a 6 pak of the local ginger ale (really good), and suggested places to visit. We social distanced ourselves and enjoyed a cocktail outside while sharing stories. Wonderful hosts!! I hope I can stay again when I return. Thanks to all the great hosts and to BW for putting it all together.
We arrived at B+P and they met us at the driveway, helped us back in and greeted us with a smile! We had just finished a trip to Gatlinburg and were on our way home. They were just what we needed, a great place to stay, quiet and very welcoming! The weather wasn’t looking good for the next day, so we cut our stay short and headed home early. We look forward to seeing them again and visiting with them more in the future. Thanks for the stay!
On a recent trip 'Halfway to Somewhere' was exactly Halfway to Where we were going and a perfect distance for a days drive. We stayed at this host site on the way to our destination and loved it so much we ask about staying again on our way home which we did. The host are great gracious people and I found out I may be a distant relative to our Mrs. Host. We were provided a PDF guidesheet for this host location which included specific directions from the highway and unlike Garmin will actually bring you to their home. The PDF also includes local attractions, shopping and dining suggestions. Once at the site we were guided into the best location for our overnite stay. Electric and water were graciously provided. A nearby sheep farm creates a beautiful view. Overall, 5 stars, 2 Thumbs Up!
I cannot think of a better hosts. With a smart eye to all the little things that make a stay go well, B and P are two people who enjoy life with a relish and make a delightful stay. The parklike yard with a rolling hill down to the distant sheep is charming. Loved the local ginger ale and can't wait to share the rest with a friend who loves ginger beer. The nearby park was beautiful, as well as my trek to Van Hook Falls.
Our 1st experience with Boondockers Welcome... and it was amazing...we arrived at 6:30 pm and left by 10 am ..hosts went above and beyond in every way . .
Halfway to Somewhere does not do anything halfway. Everything about this overnight stay is top notch. The host are super people and provide a great service. Would we stay again.. ahhh.. YES. And we will on our way home.
Another outstanding stay with these guys. They both are wonderful company! We look forward to meeting them again in the future maybe we’ll get the pleasure of hosting them. Of not then we’ll be back in their driveway bc we enjoy them that much. BDW members like them continue to grow our family, that’s great.
This was our first stay with Boondockers Welcome and it was great! B and P were so pleasant and helpful and knowledgeable about RVs! We had a long day on the road with a few trailer issues and arrived after dark. They graciously helped us park and hook up to water and electric.
We woke the next morning and saw what a beautiful spot they have with a view of rolling hills spotted with sheep and baby lambs.
Thanks B and P for a very positive experience!
We had such a good time hanging out between an active runway and a working farm. This is such a beautiful place and our hosts were the nicest and kindest our nation has to offer. They were so helpful and gracious and greeted us with delicious Ale81. Never tasted Ginger ale this good!!! Our dogs played in their yard and when we took a walk, we saw Great Pyrenees working dogs protecting their flock. We’d be honored to come back for another flyby next time we are in Kentucky.
Mostly because I was more relaxed. Thank you for being such gracious hosts! Quiet, level parking is wonderful. Easy access to/from I-75 and fuel stop.
Thank you again!
Wonderful hosts! They cheerfully greeted me and assisted me by guiding me into my parking spot. It was dark when I arrived (sorry! It was 6:30 and dark this time of year). Easy to find and easy off/on the expressway and quiet, level...all the good stuff about Boondockers. Thank you for offering your place for the weary travelers. 😊
This couple was welcoming, great communicators and extremely hospitable. We really enjoyed our conversation with them. We were able to hook up to 30 amp electric(surge protector provided or you can use your own). We were also offered water hookup which we didn’t need, however that was very generous of them. Our parking spot was up on a hill overlooking a beautiful view of a sheep farm. We would love to stay here again...such sweet people and a wonderful southern Kentucky overnight location!
Our hosts were the the absolute sweetest and caring couple. They made sure to welcome us, as well as have everything we needed. Our interactions were slight (due to COVID), but we definitely appreciated the moments we were able to talk to them. We hope to come back in the future and hopefully are able to spend more time with them! (:
This is a wonderful place to overnight! Our hosts were so welcoming and hospitable. The puppers had a great romp and met a new friend. Since it was a little chilly we appreciated being able to hookup so our coach batteries could stay charged. Highly recommend and a big thank you to B+P.
B&P are a super sweet & kind couple. There driveway is paved & easy to maneuver. They have a beautiful dog run that was the highlight of our labs journey so far. Highly recommended hosts. Thank you both for your warm hospitality.
B+P we’re wonderful hosts and most accommodating to us and our fur babies. It was a short but pleasant stay. It was a comfortable spot for the night and certainly longer, no doubt. We had brief but very pleasant conversation with them and enjoyed meeting them and their beautiful fur baby. We would absolutely stay again at Halfway to Somewhere!!
These hosts were exceptional hosts. Friendly, prepared, welcoming and genuine. They prepared their driveway for our TT by clearing the leaves, set up a fire pit for use and helped guide backing in the TT. Floyd did try and make friends with our dog but she would have nothing to do with friendly Floyd. We asked to have a tour of their short, sporty Class A and they were happy to provide the tour for us. WONDERFULLY ENJOYABLE HOSTS that we both hope to meet again either their place or ours ---- Somewhere.
B+P were such gracious and accommodating hosts. We very much enjoyed talking with them and couldn't have asked for better care. Their site was peaceful with minimal noise from the road and we'd definitely rate them 5 stars! We look forward to seeing them again the next time we're up that way.
B & P were kind and helpful hosts. Also enjoyed meeting their black lab, Floyd. Wish we could have stayed longer, but got another invite. They treated us to a new soft drink, ALE8,... very tasty, bottled near their area. God bless you folks for all your kindness.
Incredible location, great hosts ... what more can I say! B and P helped us back into a paved, level spot in their peaceful neighborhood.
Our dog had a blast playing with Floyd, and our stay was just what we were looking for!
Gracious, welcoming, and kind were only a few words that explain my experience. The countryside is so beautiful where they are located. Harley and I enjoyed our time spent with them.
This was their first time hosting for Boondocker‘s welcome and they did a great job! 30 amp service, water and a good night’s sleep. They even have a cute puppy. Everything we needed for a stop. Would recommend.
