We know it's different strokes for different folks. If you'd prefer a quiet evening to yourselves, that's perfectly understandable. If you'd like to ask questions about the area or just visit, we're happy to do that, too--weather permitting and at a safe distance for all of us. Please understand we're pretty strict about social distancing because we're looking out for B's mom.
You have your choice of two spots. Both are on blacktop and both require some maneuvering and reversing. (We'll only host one unit at a time, so you can actually decide which spot you want after you arrive, if you prefer.)
If you choose the first spot, you'll pull up into the driveway, back into the turn-around, pull forward to straighten up, then reverse approximately 50 feet. The spot is fairly level, though some minor leveling might be desired. (Many boondockers don't even disconnect their rig from their tow vehicle.) You'll be facing forward for departure. You'll also enjoy good shade from mature trees in this spot, except when the sun is directly overhead. This spot is approximately 250 feet from the road that will have light traffic all throughout the night. 30-amp ELECTRIC IS AVAILABLE at this spot. WATER IS ALSO AVAILABLE, but you'll need approximately 50 feet of hose to connect.
If you choose the second spot, you'll pull up into the driveway and then back into the turn-around. The spot is fairly level, though some leveling will be required. You'll be facing forward for departure. There is very little shade in the second spot. It's approximately 200 feet from the road that will have light traffic all throughout the night. NO WATER OR ELECTRIC is available at this spot.
Please note: We live at the end of a small airport runway. Some planes may take off or arrive, mostly personal aircraft. Medical helicopters also use this airport and may take off or land during the night.
A fenced DOG AREA IS AVAILABLE. Please pick up after your dog(s) and NEVER leave them unattended. Please use a leash between your camper and the fenced area as there are dogs (friendly!) next door who sometimes escape.
Another note: If a guest is a licensed ham radio operator, a connection for HF antennas is available. As a rule, available antennas include 80/40 meters and usually something for 20 meters. The connection point is 30 feet from spot #1. Please give advance notice if you intend to make use of the antennas. If you have any questions about the antennas, feel free to message us.
* Please plan on arriving before dark.
* No generators after 10 pm.
* Please place trash in outside bin.
* Pets must be leashed when outside your camper.
Located approximately 3 miles from I-75. The last 1.75 miles is on a rural two-lane road with typical widths, (lack of) shoulders, ditches, etc. However, RVs, school busses, and semis travel the road routinely. Just go slowly. Please be sure to follow the directions we give you as the shortest distance by GPS isn't always the best. If you're comfortable towing a vehicle on a road like this (we do), our driveway is long enough and level enough to disconnect after you turn in.
Plenty of room to park, either on grass (weather permitting) or blacktop.
5 minutes from Levi Jackson Wilderness Road Park (formerly a state park) for walking paths, mini golf, reproduction watermill, small historic museum, picnic areas, Treetop Adventure (zip lines, rope bridges, etc.), and 5.5 mile mountain bike trail. (Some attractions may not currently be open.)
30 minutes from Laurel River Lake.
45 minutes from Cumberland Falls.
I cannot think of a better hosts. With a smart eye to all the little things that make a stay go well, B and P are two people who enjoy life with a relish and make a delightful stay. The parklike yard with a rolling hill down to the distant sheep is charming. Loved the local ginger ale and can't wait to share the rest with a friend who loves ginger beer. The nearby park was beautiful, as well as my trek to Van Hook Falls.
Our 1st experience with Boondockers Welcome... and it was amazing...we arrived at 6:30 pm and left by 10 am ..hosts went above and beyond in every way . .
Halfway to Somewhere does not do anything halfway. Everything about this overnight stay is top notch. The host are super people and provide a great service. Would we stay again.. ahhh.. YES. And we will on our way home.
Another outstanding stay with these guys. They both are wonderful company! We look forward to meeting them again in the future maybe we’ll get the pleasure of hosting them. Of not then we’ll be back in their driveway bc we enjoy them that much. BDW members like them continue to grow our family, that’s great.
This was our first stay with Boondockers Welcome and it was great! B and P were so pleasant and helpful and knowledgeable about RVs! We had a long day on the road with a few trailer issues and arrived after dark. They graciously helped us park and hook up to water and electric.
We woke the next morning and saw what a beautiful spot they have with a view of rolling hills spotted with sheep and baby lambs.
Thanks B and P for a very positive experience!
We had such a good time hanging out between an active runway and a working farm. This is such a beautiful place and our hosts were the nicest and kindest our nation has to offer. They were so helpful and gracious and greeted us with delicious Ale81. Never tasted Ginger ale this good!!! Our dogs played in their yard and when we took a walk, we saw Great Pyrenees working dogs protecting their flock. We’d be honored to come back for another flyby next time we are in Kentucky.
Mostly because I was more relaxed. Thank you for being such gracious hosts! Quiet, level parking is wonderful. Easy access to/from I-75 and fuel stop.
Thank you again!
Wonderful hosts! They cheerfully greeted me and assisted me by guiding me into my parking spot. It was dark when I arrived (sorry! It was 6:30 and dark this time of year). Easy to find and easy off/on the expressway and quiet, level...all the good stuff about Boondockers. Thank you for offering your place for the weary travelers. 😊
This couple was welcoming, great communicators and extremely hospitable. We really enjoyed our conversation with them. We were able to hook up to 30 amp electric(surge protector provided or you can use your own). We were also offered water hookup which we didn’t need, however that was very generous of them. Our parking spot was up on a hill overlooking a beautiful view of a sheep farm. We would love to stay here again...such sweet people and a wonderful southern Kentucky overnight location!
Our hosts were the the absolute sweetest and caring couple. They made sure to welcome us, as well as have everything we needed. Our interactions were slight (due to COVID), but we definitely appreciated the moments we were able to talk to them. We hope to come back in the future and hopefully are able to spend more time with them! (:
This is a wonderful place to overnight! Our hosts were so welcoming and hospitable. The puppers had a great romp and met a new friend. Since it was a little chilly we appreciated being able to hookup so our coach batteries could stay charged. Highly recommend and a big thank you to B+P.
B&P are a super sweet & kind couple. There driveway is paved & easy to maneuver. They have a beautiful dog run that was the highlight of our labs journey so far. Highly recommended hosts. Thank you both for your warm hospitality.
B+P we’re wonderful hosts and most accommodating to us and our fur babies. It was a short but pleasant stay. It was a comfortable spot for the night and certainly longer, no doubt. We had brief but very pleasant conversation with them and enjoyed meeting them and their beautiful fur baby. We would absolutely stay again at Halfway to Somewhere!!
These hosts were exceptional hosts. Friendly, prepared, welcoming and genuine. They prepared their driveway for our TT by clearing the leaves, set up a fire pit for use and helped guide backing in the TT. Floyd did try and make friends with our dog but she would have nothing to do with friendly Floyd. We asked to have a tour of their short, sporty Class A and they were happy to provide the tour for us. WONDERFULLY ENJOYABLE HOSTS that we both hope to meet again either their place or ours ---- Somewhere.
B+P were such gracious and accommodating hosts. We very much enjoyed talking with them and couldn't have asked for better care. Their site was peaceful with minimal noise from the road and we'd definitely rate them 5 stars! We look forward to seeing them again the next time we're up that way.
B & P were kind and helpful hosts. Also enjoyed meeting their black lab, Floyd. Wish we could have stayed longer, but got another invite. They treated us to a new soft drink, ALE8,... very tasty, bottled near their area. God bless you folks for all your kindness.
Incredible location, great hosts ... what more can I say! B and P helped us back into a paved, level spot in their peaceful neighborhood.
Our dog had a blast playing with Floyd, and our stay was just what we were looking for!
Gracious, welcoming, and kind were only a few words that explain my experience. The countryside is so beautiful where they are located. Harley and I enjoyed our time spent with them.
This was their first time hosting for Boondocker‘s welcome and they did a great job! 30 amp service, water and a good night’s sleep. They even have a cute puppy. Everything we needed for a stop. Would recommend.
