We are 12 miles from French lick- we are in the state forest
Amenities depend on if my ranch is rented to a group or not- if it’s not being used you have access to a very cool place with lots to do - but when it’s rented by paying guests we only give you access to the camp area
1. Dogs on a leash if I have paying guests that have the place rented
2. Not all spots have power
We have a gym- serious god gym , 9 hole golf course, axe throwing, brick pizza oven, bbq grill, wood smokers, fishing pond, trails, shooting range, clay pigeons, large vineyard, bourbon tasting barn, martial arts gym- think of a giant man cave that’s a ranch
During the week we generally have few paying guests - it’s then you would have access to the fun stuff
Don’t be stupid
No guns unless you get permission on when and where to shoot
Don’t use our facilities where the paying guests are when they have rented the place
No animals run loose when our place is rented
Only stay short time so others can get time at the ranch as well
The road getting to the ranch is very narrow- however - I’ve seen two RVs pass going opposite direction so it’s not as narrow as it feels - it is paved the entire road
Once on the ranch - Getting to the parking area is pretty simple - it is a single lane for a 1000 meters gravel road and you will need directions from someone once you get there
Park in the field or next to your rig
Contact us and we will let you know- this is something new we are trying. We do not accept guest requests more than one week from the desired stay date.
All of French lick is very nice, bands, bars, #1&2 golf courses in Indiana- and ours the worst golf course in Indiana - casino etc
Dave is a great guy. Nice place to park our camper for the night.
Looked like it was a nice place from what we could see through the pouring rain.
We only stayed the 1 night instead of 2 because we wasn’t allowed to drive around & see the ranch because they had the place rented. From what we could tell it looked like this would be Better place to stay as they said during the week day & it was to far out for us to do anything else, so we just boondocked in town the second night.
We would recommend this place to others only if it’s not rented during your stay, or you just want a place to sleep for the night out in the peace & quiet of Mother Nature.
Very quiet spot in a nicely wooded area. The ranch was a cool property! I had plenty of space to run my dog and my trailer was shaded virtually all day. The drive up the ‘mountain’ was windy and narrow but i didnt have any issues. Absutely perfect for my needs!
This was a great stop. There were paying guests so we did not do any activities at the ranch. We had plenty to see in French Lick so we stayed busy most of the time! The roads around this area are small and hilly so be cautious. Also if you have pets or children be sure to check well for ticks.
We enjoyed a quiet, peaceful night’s sleep on this beautiful ranch. Friendly, generous host.
We arrived in the rain and had to leave early the next morning, so didn't get enough time to look around, but we could tell that this is a truly beautiful ranch. Our host was very accommodating, greeting us when we arrived, staying in touch via text, then he stopped by in the morning.
We would love to come back in better weather and enjoy more of the ranch and chat more. Highly recommended location.
Was a nice place. Up on a mountain top in the woods. I was supplied water and electric.
My wife and I had an outstanding visit. The hosts are very hospitable and the property is breathtaking. We had an unforgettable time here, and learned so much. Thank you Elk Ridge.
Unfortunately i arrived later than planned and had an early start, but Elk Ridge is a beautiful property in a great area of southern Indiana. Would love to head back and explore the area.
Great experience, even had a cabin to rent for my parents to stay the night since they were traveling with us. Our spot was perfect, up on the hill with a great view and a short walk to the cabin to visit parents. Awesome and welcoming host gave us a tour, and explained history of bldgs. Thanks so much for having us!
Easy in and out. Elk Ranch is a spacious opportunity to boondock with multiple options. We were our near the pond by ourselves. Nice quiet evening. Thanks!
We spent our first boondockers welcome stay at Elk Ridge Ranch, and it was wonderful! We were the only people there (besides the owners), so we had a ton of space to enjoy this lovely property and it's amenities. Dave was so hospitable, allowing us to use the facilities and explore the fun activities he offers. He even shared some delicious food! Our dogs and kids were so happy to have space to run and play, and we would definitely recommend Elk Ridge Ranch!
This was one of the best BW experiences we have had. Our hosts were very welcoming, engaging, and very generous while we stayed on the property. If you haven't been, STAY HERE! Not only are the hosts amazing, the property is beautiful as well. Easy to get in and out of with a 36 foot fifth wheel. Thank you guys again!!!!
Even though Dave was very busy with running a one of a kind resort he made time to show us around. Sitting by the wood stove in the bourbon cabin and sampling the liquors and trading stories made for a fun evening. Thanks Dave
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Elk Ridge Ranch. Our original vacation plans fell apart, so we ended up closer to home instead, and stayed a few days at Elk Ridge Ranch. We only wish we had been able to stay longer. If we had known how much fun we were going to have, we would have planned to go there from the start!
We enjoyed primitive camping by the pond, but hookups were available near the main building. It looked like the top of the hill would have been a nice primitive spot as well. Elk Ridge Ranch offers so many activities: Axe throwing, skeet shooting, golf, gym, the brick pizza oven in the pizza barn, and so much more. They even added our meat to their smoker so we could enjoy a delicious dinner. They were hosting a bachelor party and wedding, and still found time to make us feel at home as welcomed guests. We had plenty of opportunities to socialize and to still have quiet time to ourselves. We loved walking around the ranch, and our quiet nights around the fire.
Elk Ridge Ranch is out in the peaceful quiet of the country, but very near several surrounding charming towns. French Lick is a convenient short drive away, along with adjoining West Baden Springs. Both are such cute towns. I highly recommend spending at least a day or two exploring that area.
We enjoyed our stay so much, we are already discussing when we can go back! If you have friends who want to tag along that aren't campers, ask them about their other facilities. They are very reasonably priced. We hope to bring our parents back to stay in the cabin next time we go camping.
