If you do not want hook ups and are a smaller lighter rig please reserve one of my other sites "2- Lexington Hideaway". If you're in a large and/or heavy rig please reserve this site (1). It is on an old gravel road that used to run through my property and will not get soft when it rains, it's also connected to my driveway. Please fully read the "Access Road Conditions" section.
We live on ~2.25 quiet and relatively private acres with a small creek along one side on a dead end street. We see deer most days, see & hear Red Shouldered and Broad Winged Hawk, and hear Barred owls regularly.
Pets - Cats that stay inside are ok. For dogs we don't want to take any chances with your dog/s and we will do a controlled meet and greet with our dogs. We have 2 dogs. Our 1st is ~14 year old rescue and likes to mother hen other dogs at first. She relaxes after a little bit of monitoring as long as energy levels are kept low and there is no food involved. Our 2nd dog is a Border Collie, please DO NOT throw whatever he brings you. This helps keep energy levels low for our 1st dog. He'll chase it all day and doesn't know when to stop. He becomes a nuisance by putting it in the way and/or being under foot.
There are a half dozen places to dump tanks near by. The 2 that I've been to but never dumped at are Love's truck stop 11 miles away at 340 Longs Pond Rd, Lexington, SC 29073. 2nd is Barnyard campground ~5 miles away at 201 Oak Dr., Lexington, SC 29073. I think they're both $10. I stayed at Barnyard for three weeks in March 2020 The spot I was in was big and could easily have fit to campers in it. I have room in my trash can for a couple kitchen sized trash bags if needed. Also have a large recycling can available you can use, what can go in it is listed on the lid.
Would love help and/or suggestions on how to make this site and listing better.
- No fireworks
- No illicit drugs
- No incessantly barking dogs, clean up after your dog
- Quiet camping generators only and they need to be on the far side of your camper to reduce noise
- Smoking is allowed as far from house as possible, police your butts (leave no trace)
- Campfires are allowed if there isn't a burn ban, portable propane fire pits are allowed any time
Paved 2 lane road narrows to a gravel road, driveway entrance is narrow and may be difficult to exit with a large 5th wheel or RV while towing. The largest trailer I've gotten in and out of my driveway was my 35' bumper pull Toy Hauler (pictured) and it was tight. I've had a 30' 5er make it, I'm not sure a 35' would make the tight 90 degree turn out onto the street. I've had a 40' Class A make it while towing a Chevy spark on a tow dolly. Class A & C if you're pulling a tow dolly or other trailer I can use my truck (with 2", 2 5/16" tow balls) or my tractor with 2" tow ball to move it without the vehicle on it. To save from having to move it by hand. I also have room to park additional vehicles and trailers if needed.
Near your rig
I've added a BoonDockers information box (mailbox) that has local flyers, brochures, local things to do magazines, state maps and such for you to look through. If you go somewhere please grab a flyer for the next guest and leave it in the mail box. I also have a composition book for guests to sign and/or give local reviews/recommendations of local places you've been. Within a few miles there is Walmart, Target, World Market, Starbucks, 4 grocery stores, restaurants, Fast food, Lowe's, Home depot, TSC, Hobby Lobby and tons of other places to go shopping. Multiple gas stations with diesel. I'm a bit new to the area so I'm not really that up to speed yet on what is around. Lake Murray is 3.5 miles away, public boat launch ~6 miles away. Riverbanks Botanical Garden, Riverbanks Zoo & Garden, Columbia Canal and Riverfront Park, South Carolina State Museum, The Congaree National Park Harry Hampton Visitor Center.
So happy "mrpc" is a host, he has beautiful land, a convenient location, and he is a wealth of knowledge and skill-- you'd be very lucky to score a stay at his place, and even luckier to get to know him. Super accommodating and helpful. Enjoyed everything! Thanks for all the hard work you put in to keep things running, it's so appreciated. Good luck on your future projects!
mrpc gave us a lot of camping tips and ideas. We enjoyed our time here and would recommend it if you are passing through the area. Thank you again for a great stay!!
Great spot for a short stay. Very central to Columbia and Lake Murray. Host was very friendly and supportive.
Our hosts provided us with plethora of knowledge on the area with ready pamphlets. Additionally, he was very helpful concerning our search for a new truck. The wildlife was indeed amazing with hawks and deer.
Surprise first to find such a quiet and wild ambiance so near from a busy town!
Very pleasant and helpful contact with The Host, who directed us to the site by the forest, and and helped us sorting out some trouble we had with the awning.
The Host’s dogs were very cool, and his collection of toys too!
Place and people to remember...
We had a great time at the Lexington Hideaway. The nights were quiet with only the occasional hoot from the owls. This location is tucked away just a few blocks from all of the major dining and shopping you would expect in a major city.
Our hosts were very interesting sharing some of our experiences traveling and meeting people.
The site was mostly level and offered 15A electric and water. Easy in and out for our 27 foot class a even while towing.
We look forward to seeing mrpc again highly recommend this boondocker.
What a great property! Tucked away, surrounded by woods. We saw deer roaming in the field, hawks flying overhead and heard the owels at night. But you drive up the road and pop out right in the middle of town with all the shopping within minutes.
We had a wonderful time and the host was great.
We will definitely come stay again when we are back in the area.
This gentleman was very friendly and flexible!
Dan and Lillian
When we arrived our host met us at the driveway and gave us directions regarding parking, and connections to electricity and water.
Mrpc has been friendly, considerate, and flexible. We couldn't ask for more!
(His younger dog sits right outside our door eager to play.)
Thank you for your kind hospitality!
The host was very helpful getting us set up and the location was quiet and secluded but convenient to shopping, restaurants, and attractions.
During our one day layover we enjoyed visiting the Botanical Gardens, the South Carolina State Museum, and a great meal at a local restaurant.
The hosts canine entourage was a lot of fun and they are ready to play if you are. While we were at camp we enjoyed several conversations with our host.
While leaving town we visited the Congaree National Park, a must see.
Had a good stay, was super close to all the amenities in the area, the owner was super cool. They're dogs are so kind and love to play fetch, gonna miss those good boys!
Very helpful host. Nice quiet property in country setting, but close to everything!
Met the host and his very friendly dogs as I was setting up the rv. He was very knowledgeable in the surrounding areas and provided water and electricity to make my accommodations more pleasant.
The weather was prefect for my outside plans. Would love to visit again. Very charming area.
We arrived for an over night stay.
The host welcomed us and was helpfull setting up and with an advise about Congaree NP, near by.
99mrpc is a great host. He offered to help us with a repair that we we working on which was great. It was very quiet and overall a great place to rest up.
Good location to explore the area. Host was very nice. Wish we had more time to spend visiting but during the work week it was not possible. Thanks again for a great stay.
Our host was helpful and the camp area was level and clean. Would love to stay there again when we are in the area.
We were unable to visit much due to covid but our host greeted us on arrival and made sure we were set up and comfortable. The location was quiet and relaxing.
Very quiet and off the grid even though everything you needed was just up the street. Great hosts and we had no trouble getting in and out even though it rained the night before we left. We would stay again if we were back in the area.
This was a quiet, safe and friendly home centrally located for our needs. We loved playing catch with their dog’s. Our host greeted us and made us feel welcomed, offering electric, water and garbage disposal if needed. We loved sitting outside taking in the fresh air and surroundings. Would return if ever in this area again. Thanks for your hospitality.
I really enjoyed the deer walking in back of the property. It was very quiet and beautiful!
What a great little hide-a-way this place is. As we got close to 99mrpc there are developments all around and we we’re thinking, boy this is not going to be quiet & secluded place at all. But as the pavement ended, we found ourselves in a nice little secluded pocket of solitude. 99mrpc was there to welcome us and show us where to set up our rig. We then proceeded to have a nice long visit with our host, which is always nice. We offered to help out while we were there and for a nice change our host took us up on our offer. It made us feel good to be able to help our host out as they did by providing this nice spot for us. We saw birds galore, including hearing a barred owl each night. Deer were also sighted regularly in the surrounding woods. Lots to do close by. We had a great hike & paddle in the Congaree National Park and planned on canoeing a different river the next day but got rained out. 99mrpc has grand plans for improving this site so if when we come stay again I’m sure it will be an even nicer place to hole up for a a few days. Thanks 99mrpc and take care.
