We live on three acres of mountain hilltop. The neighborhood is a mix of modest homes as well as some more luxurious mountain showpieces. Some lots are only used for recreational camping. Our place has ponderosa pine trees and lots of rock outcroppings. The views are not panoramic but quite serene and pleasant. We have plenty wildlife ( lots of deer and humming birds the occasional fox or marmot). Our primary activity is sitting around. We have a fire ring that we will share as well as lots of sitting options. Hiking or walking are also available when we're not sitting on our butts. It's peaceful and serene. Get it?
Be nice or go home!!
Our location is three miles off a paved county road. The road in is a private gravel road maintained by our POA. The road has some tight curves but is well maintained. The incline and curves may not be comfortable to all, but 35 ft. class A's come up it regularly. The turn in at our driveway is tight but with a little finesse it is manageable. Weather can impact conditions greatly. Check with us before you arrive. Once you arrive there is ample room to turn around. Watch out for pedestrians (both two legged and four) Speed limit is 15 mph (less is better).
plenty of room
We are pretty much a three season destination. Winter here can be brutal. May thru September it is much more tolerable.
Our place is very close ( as the crow flies ) to Rocky Mountain National Park. Unfortunately the road to get ther will take you about an hour. We are about 90 minutes from Denver. 45 minutes from Fort Collins, CO. Laramie Wy. is less than an hour north. We are a days drive from Yellowstone. The Black Hills are also a day away. National Forest surrounds our area. Lots of public access and recreation.
Thanks for letting us stay at your place just off the beaten path. We had a nice evening visit at the picnic table , special thanks for the homemade jelly, tour guide instructions. Very pleasant hosts.
Our first boondock experience was awesome thanks to Lucky and Susie! They were wonderful hosts!
Lucky and Susie were amazing hosts. They greeted us when we showed up and helped us get into our spot. We sat down and had some spirits and shared stories about one another. They were so kind to us and made our first stay with boondockers welcome amazing. Looking forward to many more. Would definitely stay with them again.
Had a very nice stay. Hosts were very kind and welcoming, and went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. Beautiful, quiet spot.
We really enjoyed our stay at Lucky's and Susie's Retreat! We didn't get to meet Lucky, but had a wonderful time and great discussions with Susie. This is why we love Boondockers Welcome! The drive up was beautiful and the views from the property were amazing. We saw deer (including a playful fawn), hummingbirds and mountain bluejays. We highly recommend this host and hope to see them again.
A friendly couple that showed hospitality to a boondocker passing through. Their hilltop home was cool and breezy during the hot weather. The water and electrical hookups were much appreciated.
Deer, so many deer! A really nice drive from Fort Collins. Lucky and Susie were excellent hosts and I hope to visit again.
