We had a wonderful visit to The Hurdland farm. They were very welcoming and had so many great suggestions on places to check out in the area. We appreciated the space to walk our puppy and enjoyed the walk up to the pond. We stayed up admiring the beautiful night stars and woke up to a beautiful sunrise. We can’t thank them enough for the warm welcome and gracious hospitality.
Thanks again for another quiet night of rest at your farm and for the fresh tomatoes and apples! Best wishes to you and your future endeavors ❤️
This spot was only our third time staying with Boondockers Welcome, but it’s hard to imagine a better time anywhere. Our hosts were there to greet us and help us get set up. While I was finishing the set up, J and V provided my wife with a full visitor’s packet for the area, including recommendations for hiking, biking, dining out and assorted other activities. J even provided hand drawn maps and handwritten directions for some out of the way destinations! We had a fantastic time exploring the area, hiking up to the pond on the property and best of all, chatting with our hosts. We are definitely planning on retuning the next time we are in the area.
I highly enjoyed my time at this location. The hosts were very welcoming and nice to talk to. I had easy access to electric which they were kind enough to let me use. The best of the best in the BW community ❤️
Hurdland Farm was a perfect restful stay. Close to a charming village where we got lost (in a good way) in a family hardware store and purchased the best maple candy I've ever had (They ship, too!) Our hosts were so helpful with brochures about the area. We were gifted tomatoes from their garden. I love tomato sandwiches. I'd be tickled to return some day.
What a beautiful spot. The views were spectacular and our hosts were very welcoming. They gave us ideas of things to do as well as tomotoes from her garden. We also had a lovely evening with good conversation sitting around a campfire. Close to willouby state forest and the Derby Line us Canadian border. If you are in the area we recommend staying here.
We have over several years come to truly appreciate Boondockers Welcome hosts and the experience of camping with them.
Our latest hosts have raised the bar. They have a great farm overlooking the Green Mountains. They know the Northeast Kingdom well. Not only did we have a nice and restful place to camp, but we also received fresh produce from their garden and they made a campfire for us to enjoy allowing us get to know each other.
As much as I'd rather keep this special place a secret, I have to highly recommend it to you.
We loved our time at Hurdland Farm! From swimming in the pond and picking veggies, to helping at the dairy farm and driving the gator the kids had a blast and learned a ton too! If we are ever in the area again we will be asking to come back!
Thanks so much for the hospitality, we enjoyed your company. You provided a great place to stay and wonderful ideas for places to visit. Your view is spectacular. We would love to see you all again, please come visit.
Great location. Accepted offer of power. Great hosts who are all about the boondocking life!
Amazing stay, could not have asked for better hosts. Not to mention the view of the mountains at the top of the hill.
We read the wonderful reviews about Hurdland Farm and decided it sounded perfect for our scenic route travels through northern VT. And now, we couldn’t agree more! We had a wonderful experience at this peaceful, scenic farm. The hosts were so warm and welcoming and informational! Our spot next to the barn gave us a gorgeous sunset view to sit out and finish our day! We also explored the nearby bike trail that led us about 9 mi to the border of Canada. We enjoyed talking to our hosts and would like to return sometime again. It was a perfect first time Boondockers experience and completely fit our needs!
Wonderful visit with very informative hosts. Lot's of great suggestions of swimming holes and other activities in the area. Great hospitality and a beautiful rural farm setting.
I’m not sure what we loved more, the beautiful area or the amazingly kind folks. The area is truly a hidden gem, And the hosts were absolutely amazing, Welcomed us in like we were family. We were introduced to secret swimming spots, hiking areas with breathtaking views, and robotic milking machines! When we arrived we were given a welcome packet chock full of information on what to see, where to go and what to eat. Highly recommend you Take ALL the recommendations! Hurdland Farm will not steer you in the wrong direction. Our little pup Luna had one of the best weekends of her life, it was so quiet and peaceful we could have sat outside looking at the view all weekend long. My only regret is I wish we planned for a longer trip! We can’t thank our hosts enough for such an amazing weekend, we wish you both safe travels, and will keep your family in our thoughts and prayers this week. Hope to see you all again soon 🤍
First time as guests and it couldn't have been better. Booked for 3 nights, but last minute change of plans only worked for 2 nights, but it was still awesome, to say the least. Beautiful property and people, as well. Quiet, clean and fun. The best kind of hosts. Hoping to return the favor next year.
During our two night stay here I was the most rested I have been in awhile! The view is stunning! We sat out and just enjoyed nature all day. This is a very quiet location where you are treated to the sounds of birds singing, happy cows occasionally mooing, and coyotes calling at night! I could have spent another day just doing "nothing". Even our dog enjoyed "playing" with the cows. She had a favorite friend, "Whitey", that mooed when our dog would leave her to go back to the rig. This was the cutest thing ever!
Our hosts are two of the nicest and most genuine people you could ask for. They provided us with a very helpful information packet about both the site and things to do in the area. We were treated to 30A power and offered water for our tank. We were taken up to the top of the hill where there was a refreshing looking swimming hole and a great spot to view beautiful sunsets.
If we're ever in Vermont again, I hope that we are able to spend some more time at Hurdland Farm!
Thank you V & J for the perfect boondocking experience. We had a great time exploring the area thanks to you taking the time to print out all the points of interest then showing us how to get there. I think Rhonda's favorite was the lavender farm on the top of the mountain. Or maybe it was the tour of the robotic milking farm.
Your farm is beautiful and we had a great view from our camp site near your barn. The nights were so quiet we both got some much needed rest.
We can't say thank you enough!
Dean & Rhonda
We had such a great time staying with Hurdland Farm in their idyllic setting in the Northeast Kingdom! What a slice of paradise this is. They showed us around, we made friends with some cows who were just enthralled with our dog, and even got some fresh asparagus! This is a working farm, so the work continued during our stay, and my husband even chipped in to help them scrape the barn for repainting! Our dog had an exceptional time here, too. Wish we had been able to stay longer!
We had the absolute best time exploring this area. Host provided power, water, suggested places to see and great conversation. Their view is spectacular. We hope to host them some day. Highly recommended!
We loved everything about our overnight at Hurdland Fram -- the spectacular scenery, the working-farm ambiance, the sweet little heifers, the inviting farm pond (although was a little too chilly for a dip the day we were there). Best of all were our hosts, who are friendly, welcoming, and full of information about and enthusiasm for their lovely corner of the world. We'd love to visit again some time, and hope they'll stay with us if they ever head to coastal Maine.
We were looking far a night on our Fall Colors Driving Tour and these hosts were just great.
Great locations, great views, great sunset. Vern & Judy were very accommodating to say the least. We adjusted our plans to visit Connecticut Lakes in NH and visit the granite headstones cemetery too! Thanks! Hope to see you at our FL place someday.
The folks at Hurdland Farm were extremely welcoming and had pre printed for us all the information about the area that we needed to make our stay in northern Vermont memorable Wonderful people with a beautiful farm. Can't thank them enough!
Enjoyed my stay, spent time up in their pond watching my pup chase the frogs. Would stay again
I have been absolutely hesitant about boondockers ,new to the idea, this has been such a wonderful VT experience. The Hurdland farm is a slice of heaven in the most majestic part of VT, I should know I’m a native. Vern & Judy are warm, welcoming, intelligent, curious and fantastic hosts, Not too much, Not too little, just perfectly enough. Thanx for your warmth and endearing me even more to the world of boondockers welcome. Great folks here!
We can’t say enough good things about our visit at Hurdland. Our new farmer friends Vern and Judy were as hospitable as can be! We were set up next to the barn with power and water and an incredible view across their fields to the Northern Green Mountains. Great recommendations on what to see while in the area. We drove all over enjoying the beautiful scenery...especially enjoyed Newport City, the lakefront, and our drive around Willoughby Lake. Loved getting to know our hosts a bit and hope to see them on future trips, maybe during foliage season or connecting again with them on the road in FL or AZ. Great stay, highly recommend!!!!
You won’t find better hosts than Judy and Vern who constantly worked to insure that your stay is a happy and comfortable one. An added bonus is they provide water and electric hookup for one RV. The fresh cucumbers and new potatoes were greatly appreciated. The majestic views of Jay Peak in daylight and Milkyway Galaxy in darkness are something to behold.
Great couple and location ! A Green Mountain sunset view with open fields ... Informative and gracious hosts making our first Boondocker experience awesome. They helped with cycling routes, a swimming hole , and a look into the equipment required to run a farm.
Since we were their first guest, I need to make this special. First of all, they are the one of the nicest couples we have meet. We felt like they treated us like family. They even gave us some yummy vegetables from their garden. Super generous, huh! They offered us a list of places to see and do. One of their suggestions was to hike the Belvidere Mountain. Just to let you know, there are multiple trails. We did not know this and somehow got the hardest option. We have to laugh at this now. The payoff was totally worth it, the views were incredible at the top.
Hurdland will tell you this too. It is a working farm, near many other farms, and there are times that you will smell that "fresh country air". Even though, the nights and days were so peaceful. They truly own a piece of heaven there. Everyone will enjoy their time there.
Thanks Hurdland Farms!
