Golf carts are legal to drive around the entire town.
Just be courteous, clean up after yourself and no loud music after 10pm
On major highway gravel parking area.
We have a large lot and can accommodate any size vehicles and / or tow vehicle.
Within walking distance there is a local craft brewery and there are other distilleries in the area. We would be happy to direct people to these locations.
There was lots of space to maneuver our fifth wheel around to park.
We ate at the distillery, and it was a good experience!
We enjoyed our stay at Franklin Distilleries. The host was welcoming and the food was great! We look fowards to our next visit. Thanks again.
The host has a large lot to park in with a creek that runs right behind it. The frogs croaking at night is lovely. The restaurant has good food and terrific drinks. This is definitely a place to eat. The staff are terrific!
Stay was good. Quite noisy with road noise and trains at night. Restaurant had good food and great drinks!
I only stayed one night but will definitely return. Very nice folks... good food... good drinks!
WE really enjoyed our stay at Franklin County Distilleries. Easy parking, Great food and friendly people. There was a total of 5 units staying at one time with no problems.WE look foward to staying there again and enjoying a BBQ and waffle fries! Tnanks so much.
We had a great time here! The food and drinks were amazing! This is an awesome idea that more distilleries and breweries should do!
We stayed overnight on our way to Tennessee and pulled in around 5 pm. The parking was easy because the lot was big enough to pull in and make a u turn to back our rig in. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The distillery had good food and SO many delicious drinks to choose from. It was nice also to be close to a gas station in the morning on the way back out of town.
Just like my other 3 times staying here great food and host.
The host seen me pull in the wrong side of parking lot and directed me to the back of the restaurant Distillery and told me I could park there. We set up went and in had diner and meet some new friends who also Boondocking. We also bought a bottle of their 2year old Oak Age whiskey Beautiful Bottle.
Definitely will be back
The trains and traffic were a little loud but not too bad. Nice, level place to stay for the night.
camped in the gravel parking lot with 4 other rigs. Road out front is pretty busy. Restaurant is nice. This is a good spot to get some sleep after a long day on the road.
We arrived here on a Friday afternoon and since we were the first “Boondockers “ to show up, they had us pull onto the new looking pavement just outside the back patio. We were a little concerned that the Friday night music might be very loud (because we were so close to it) but it was actually quite pleasant. BTW, dinner and beers were excellent! Had a great stay. Thanks for having us!
Trying to their review by cell phone can't do them justice. This review is abbreviated . It was our first boondocking experience and it was fantastic. Larry was out there to help the minute we pulled in. His staff is so nice it's hard to put in words. We ate there every night something different and we bought things to take home for gifts. So far everyone loves their liquor. The makers age is smooth like Buffalo trace. The flavored vodka is so good my wife bought 3 bottles. She's not even a drinker. She fell in love with the espresso flavor. If I have one negative it's something they can't control...... trains....... about 3 to 4 times during the night. We meet so many people from other and enjoy seeing other trailers.
Had another great stay and meal. Got the filet and it was cook perfectly.
Came for a place to stay the night, ended up having a nice dinner and sampling some of their product. There is a lot of traffic noise but it did not really bother us. Would stay again.
Easy to find & large level gravel parking lot. Nice little creek runs by back of lot makes for nice place to relax by. Met Host L. and got our menus for dinner - Bison Burger & Onion Rings were awesome. As others mentioned, it is on a busy road with truck traffic all night & also a Train route (just other side of creek) We slept fine- used to road noise - and the train was cool, it did serve as an alarm clock for our before sunrise departure. They serve breakfast also, did not get to try with our leaving before business hours. Enjoyed our stay & will be back when up this way again. Lots of cool drinks with vodka/moonshine - we are not drinkers!
The parking lot was large and level, gravel surface. Plenty of room for our 40ft class a, but we needed to unhitch our toad to maneuver. We stayed on a Thursday evening and had dinner. The dining room is child friendly and a good selection of food, but definitely come for the hooch!
Had a great stay with a delicious dinner. Also got some spirits for gifts for family and friends.
Easy to find on main road, plenty of flat gravel parking. Staff was wonderful and super friendly. A nice easy stop with some great drinks!!
A nice little distillery, but you are next to a main road where cars drive by most of the night. Its a bit noisy here, but alright for a night
We were met by Santa inviting is in. Met and visited then had a great Pineapple Martini and good food.. Abby and Kate our goldens got lots of attention so they thought it was great.
Nice stay very welcoming, Had take out from the restaurant it was convenient and good.
Where else can you be awoken by by Santa greeting the travelers on the road. We had the pleasure of meeting a group of pleasant and helpful folks. And where else could you park in the middle of the outdoor dining area.
Good stopover. Friendly welcome and offer of help, large, level parking area, easy to access. It's on a busy highway so it's going to be a little noisy during the day but it didn't bother me at all. The train that runs nearby is even noisier but only about twice a day so it really isn't a problem...and I like the sound of trains. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone that they consider this a good place to stay to see some beautiful countryside.
Big level gravel lot, there were 3 rvs staying overnight!
Comfy bar & restaurant. GREAT vodka, simple but tasty menu..they even serve breakfast for late risers. Would definitely stay again if in the area.
This was the longest we’ve stayed with one host and we still weren’t ready to leave. We ended each night with a different beverage. The folks were awesome!! We ate, took a tour of the distillery, sat by the fire and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. They host several RVers each night. Great location - just 15 minutes outside of Roanoke!
AT&T and Verizon had strong signal!
Greeted me and got me parked. I stayed 3 nights. Parking is on gravel. There is a little creek that runs by the back of the lot. Was nice to sit out and listen to the water. I ate a couple meals that were excellent. Their flavored vodka was excellent. Lots of traffic noise during the day, but pretty quiet at night.
We were greeted warmly when we arrived and invited to pull in wherever we liked. We had a wide space between 2 other boondockers and gladly pulled in. After getting set up we went in to have a bite to eat and see what they had going on. They are doing great things at their distillery. The food was great and their drinks were awesome. We enjoyed an Orange Creamsicle cocktail that tasted just like it said, and an Apple Pie cocktail that was made with their corn whiskey (moonshine) and it was very tasty! They also served breakfast the next morning before we left and it was awesome. We were happy to have this boondocks available.
Larry and the Staff were GREAT. We had dinner the night of our arrival and the food was good and we highly recomend their cocktails - especially the Orange Cream Sickle.
We had a pleasure of staying a few nights. They do serve food and drinks, starting at 10am or so til 7-9 pm during the time frame that we stayed. The staff and the owner were very pleasant and dog friendly. It is close to the road where a lot of trucks and cars transit thru so depending on the time of the day it could be easier to pull in/pull out of and could be a little bit loud. Other than that, a great experience overall.
Our second time staying at FCD was as enjoyable as our first! It's a great place, a great menu and the distilled spirits are fantastic! We look forward to our next visit.
Hosts were so generous and made sure we were fed when we came in after hours by hanging out for our order! Gave us coffee and bread as we left.
Boondock in a gate behind the business with relatively level ground. As others have said there is a passing train, close to the Roanoke Star and downtown area. Great stop in spot!
Stayed 2 nights while visiting family in Roanoke. Host was friendly and very helpful Helping us find a place to park we arrived. Not a drinker but the food was good. Definately a great place to stop for a day or two. Will be back next time we are in the area.
A large, level, gravel parking lot next to a restaurant/bar and distillery. Easy to locate and access. Very friendly host and staff. Lots of road noise and very busy road for entering and exiting. Was great to have an incredible salad and “Quarantini” once we arrived and Rocky, our dog, loved all the attention and treats he received as well! We only stayed one night but it was a nice place! We appreciated the hospitality. We will stop here again.
I can't say enough great things about Larry and his staff. It started with us sending a message about some tire trouble and that we were running a bit late, and they answered us promptly by saying that they would wait for us, and even made sure that we could have dinner ready and waiting if we would like ! We wound up arriving before closing, had some delish dinner ,GREAT cocktails & fun conversation, Larry even invited our 3 fur companions to join us on the patio for treats ! After a good night sleep we woke and had a kick a$$ breakfast, more enjoyable conversation & got some goodies for the road 😁 Thank You all so very much for the hospitality, we can't wait to return ! Sheryl,Rick & the furkids.
Spent one night here. We were greeted by Larry and Kenny. Parked my 40’ 5’er no problem. Had burgers from their grill for dinner. Grateful for their generosity.
We arrived later than planned and let our host know. He was waiting up for us, directed us to a quiet place in his lot and made sure we had everything we needed. We bought some whiskey before we left the following day and had a nice breakfast. A great stay - we will be back!
FCD Moonshine is a fantastic place stay! We only did an overnighter, and we highly recommend them. Easy in and out, great food, and a delightful mix of handcrafted liquors. The hosts are so nice too!! We will definitely return when we are in the area.
The hosts were a pleasure to meet. I dont drink so I missed out on there hand crafted spirits, but I did buy quite a few bottles that friends asked me to get for them. I did eat there and the food was excellent, I got the BBQ plate. I would highly recommend this place even if not staying the night stop by and have a meal and or a drink.
