COVID-19 notice: We would like to offer any fulltime RV'ers a safe stop over spot during the pandemic. We have one spot with hookups.
We live in northern Nevada with beautiful views of the Ruby Mountains. We have 4 acres of land as a homebase for our 34' motorhome. We are only a 30 minute drive to Elko NV to the west or Wells NV to the east.
We do have 3 small dogs. Please make sure you keep your pets on leashes. The land is not fenced in.
- Please keep an eye on your children and pets, as we have wildlife that sometimes passes though our land on their way to the surrounding BLM land. Plus some of the property is in the process of being cleared. Currently we are in the process of restoring a mobilehome that has just been moved to the property, so there may be power tools and restoration materials around the area.
- Please pick up after yourself and your pets.
- Please no running generators after 10pm
- Please no open fires
We are located 3.1 miles off I-80 on a dirt road. We will send you directions on the best way to get to our property. Our property is undeveloped, but accessible by 2 wheel drive vehicles. We live in our 34' ft motorhome and are able to access our land without a problem.
We have 4 acres of land. Not all the land can be parked on, but we can accommodate 1 rig right now. Your tow vehicle can park next to your rig or wherever you feel comfortable parking.
Summer of 2020 - We are currently in the process of doing renovations to a mobilehome that is now on the property. There may be some renovation noise.
Temporarily we had to remove RV Dump option as the mobilehome covers the sewer connection. In the future there will be an RV Dump option when we have constructed the extension pipe.
You can drive the backroads by the Ruby Mountains or visit Lamoille Canyon Scenic Byway in Spring Creek NV.
We also have a local Brewery in Wells NV called Ruby Mountain Brewing Company.
Paul and Pat are gracious friendly hosts We enjoyed every minute visiting with them: lots of fun-filled conversation with barbecued hamburger. Their property is a spacious and a quiet and peaceful place to stay. We hope to see them again
We absolutely loved staying overnight on the Meinke’s property. They are such precious people! We were treated like family - being welcomed, offers to help get settled, hooked up w/ electricity, and friendly sharing and relating.
And let me tell you what a gorgeous night sky we beheld!! Away from the lights of the city makes all the difference!
And the quiet peacefulness...awww💤
Thank you pmeinke! We feel we have gained friends. 🥰
Great and caring host. Great communication. Would definitely recommend.
What wonderful host. I stayed over the 4th of July weekend to avoid all the holiday travelers and this was definitely away from it all. Follow the hosts directions - not GPS. It's about 15-20ish -minutes off the highway depending on your level of comfort driving on Nevada's dirt roads. I stayed at 10mph to minimize the earthquake inside my rig.
PM helped me with a few projects I needed to take care of before heading back on the road and they invited me to share two fantastic meals with them. PM usually checked on me a few time during my stay to see if I needed anything and if all was good.
It was nice to have power and water hookups. They have changed the layout on their property a bit so the dump connection wasn't an option. The spot is just what their title says - Nevada High Desert - you are above it all looking out on the mountain tops turn rose color during a beautiful sunset or watch the full moon crest up over the mountains to light up the night - what an amazing sight. Thank you Nevada Hight Desert for a wonderful BW experience.
Our hosts were so kind to let us park our 37’ fifth wheel next to their trailer! The view is gorgeous and it was so quiet and peaceful! We stayed here on our way from Reno to Salt Lake City to break up the drive! The dirt road was a little challenging to us because our rig is so large, but the instructions to get to the place were great. Windy at night, but didn’t bother us. Water pressure and electric were great! Would highly recommend and stay again!
My family and I stayed here as a pit stop between Yellowstone and our home in Cali... so happy we did! We were greeted warmly when we arrived (at a safe 6’+ distance) and were shown a nice flat spot for our rig. We arrive just before sunset and the views were so beautiful! After I made dinner we took a family bike ride around the packed gravel roads. It was so majestic! At night you are so far away from lights that you can see the milkyway! Thank you to our hosts! We hope to return again someday!
After traveling through some bad weather, as in snow and sleet, we were thankful to get to our host's spot. It was easy access from I 80 and a few miles of gravel road. Pmeinke greeted us and was very friendly and helpful in getting us situated. We were thankful for the electric and water hookups. He also offered us dump service, but we didn't need it. Got everything set up before it started snowing again. Wish we could have visited more with them, but weather and COVID prevented it. It was a very secluded place and we enjoyed rhe quiet respite. We'd be glad to come again. Maybe the next time we could enjoy their company and the view.
Pmeinke greeted us warmly and showed us where to park. It's beautiful out here with mountain views, gorgeous sunsets, breezes with the scent of sagebrush and dark skies at night. We saw (smaller) wildlife such as ground squirrels and song birds, and could hear coyotes at night. This was just what we needed for a couple days to "de-stress." Had no difficulty getting here, and our parking spot was more level than most campgrounds. We recommend this host and site and would be glad to return some day.
A wonderful place to stop for the night. They met us at the road and helped us pick a spot. With the virus still going on we did not visit 😔 which is understandable . Hopefully we will be back to visit with them again. Beautiful sunset and sunrise so quiet with a beautiful scenery of the mountains. AT&T cell service was good at their location.
What a gorgeous piece of land! Our hosts were so gracious, allowing us to stay during the coronavirus pandemic. Unfortunatly, we only stayed one night and didn't get to visit much (and only at a 6ft distance). We would definitely stay again.
First of all, our two hosts wanted us to enjoy our stay and we did.
Second, we lived in our trailer surrounded by ground squirrels that were busy doing what ground squirrels do (all day long).
Third, I went hiking all day and was alone the whole time. Be careful of the varmit holes (don't want to sprain an ankle).
Forth, cell service was good most everywhere.
Fifth, the view from our windows was at least a nine out of ten (including sunrise and sunset).
Sixth, the host and I were able to repair part of my hitch.
Seventh, you can see the interstate but it is so far from you (no traffic noise).
Eight, moonless nights are pitch black.
Finally, Elko was 25 miles down the interstate (80mph) and had most all the amenities so I would highly recommend this host at this location.
I arrived here on April 11th & was welcomed very nicely by my gracious Hosts.
I was immediately welcomed to "shelter in place" for as long as needed, which I have done for more than a month.
I accepted their gracious offer to use their full hookups plus my AT&T for internet WIFI & my Verizon MIFI for streaming TV signals were both very strong.
My view from my bedroom & the sunrises over the East Humbolt Range was incredible.
When I arrived this snow covered Mountain Range was beautiful, now the mountains are still nice, but I do miss the snow from this distance.
The elevation here where I am parked is 5426' according to the "My Elevation" App.
The nights was chilly w Low's around 30°F. daytime HI's of 50 & 60's.
This week of May 12th the forcast is Mid 30's to low 40's. I think winter here is done.
The forecasted HI's is low 60's to low 80's, all Fahrenheit.
Shopping is 25+ miles in either West (I80 to Elko) or East (I80 to Wells a much smaller town).
My time here has been terrific & I am VERY appreciative, I would definitely return again if I was in this area of NE Nevada.
But for this FT RVer & w this Covid-19 beginning to open up, it is time to move on.
My sincerest thank you to the "pmeinke's, Happy Trails &
I have prayed for good health for both of you!
Very secluded and super quiet! Thank you so much for allowing us to stay during this social distancing time. Much appreciated!!!
Many thanks to our hosts Pmeinke. Our directions were excellent. We spent the night in a quiet environment, awakening to a lovely sunrise and a singing Meadowlark. We didn't socialize much because of Covid 19, but Paul welcomed us warmly.
