Boondockers - Welcome to "Beefield". We live in rural Georgia; out in farming country yet only 15 minutes from town. If the weather cooperates you could be blessed with a stunning sunrise view over the fields across the way. Please try to limit same-day requests to just one night. We enabled them to help out our fellow travelers with last-minute changes of plan. We enjoy offering a boondock spot. We understand the challenges of finding a place to stay when you're on the road, especially between destinations. Please note - this is a roadside spot. (See main photograph). It may not be glamorous, but it's convenient! It's a grassy, easily accessible, firm and flat roadside pull-off (with water and electric hookup available if needed. Sorry, water not available during freezing conditions). CONSIDERATIONS: * "Beefield": ~ We are retired beekeepers but we still have a beehive or two nearby on the property. If you are allergic; this may not be the best location for you to stay. ~ We have a friendly dog, cats and some chickens on the property. (Our old grey Tomcat is partly deaf so please look out for him). ~ We sometimes have eggs available so do ask if interested. * Neighbors' Dog: The immediate neighbors have a big white Great Pyrenees. He is behind an 'invisible fence' but will cross over to our property if suitably motivated. He is not the friendliest. WHAT TO EXPECT: * Roadside pull-off site: ~ We are fortunate to have a long flat verge (grass area at the side of the road) which allows us to offer a place for you to stay. It's a pretty quiet rural road. ~ We are out in farming country so during the day there will likely be tractors, 4-wheelers, UTVs and pickups more than cars. We sometimes get logging trucks or big agri-equipment passing by; it all depends on the season and what's happening on nearby farms. * Country Wildlife: ~ Bullfrogs and cicadas seasonally serenade the darkness. ~ Mosquitoes and gnats can be rather too plentiful. (Fortunately our gnats are annoying but don't bite; we have "eye-gnats" rather than the coastal "noseeum/ sand-gnats"). ~ Ants (including fire-ants). Watch where you walk, especially if you have open footwear. Closed-toe recommended. ~ Snakes. Be mindful as they are around. Most are useful non-venomous snakes that we're happy to see. However, while infrequent, venomous species are local. * Sun: ~Please be aware that the campsite is in full sun (great for solar). Sorry, but there is no shade available. ~ Canopies can be partially opened on the inward side only please, not out to the road (safety). ~ TIP: Watch your positioning between the Crepe Myrtle trees when parking if you want your canopy out. * Security: ~ Automatic power-company security night light nearby. ~ Security cameras cover the property within the fence. * Beeutiful Bees: ~ We have recently retired our beekeeping business but if you have any questions we'd 'bee' happy to talk bees with you 🐝 ~ FYI: We sold Beekeeping supplies and equipment to backyard beekeepers rather than producing honey. We performed professional honey bee removals from property. Ruth was also Secretary of the local Beekeepers club and specializes in teaching and helping beginners. ~ TIP: Google search "Beeutiful Bees" for easy navigation! * Noise? - Seasonal training on Fort Stewart can sometimes (rarely) be heard (usually around January) and sounds just like very distant thunder. (It's a good 30 miles or so away so not a disturbance, more a confusing curiosity on a sunny day!). Questions? Message us! We look forward to meeting you. ========================== Additional information: * PETS (mostly ours): Dog: We have a very friendly female husky mix (medium-sized, approx 60 lbs). She loves people, especially kids, and gets on great with most other dogs, and cats. Cats (2+1): ~ Our big gray tomcat is old and mostly deaf. He owns the place! He'll greet you like an old friend... and climb in your camper if you're not paying attention! ~ Our calico & white fluffball is becoming more friendly but she does like to run and hide under vehicles! ~ The neighbors' cat is a little brown / gray tabby and she's VERY friendly and often around to greet our guests too. She might jump in your camper! Chickens: Watch out for them free-ranging on occasion. Avoid any roosters. Honeybees: We only have a couple of hives on our property these days . They're not always friendly - it depends on the season, food availability, etc. Hives can be an attraction and a danger, especially to pets and young children. Please keep away from any beehives and in particular do not walk in front of them or across their flight line. If you're interested and would like to know more about bees we'd 'bee' happy to share our knowledge. * Pets (neighbors): We've already mentioned their dog and cat... they also have a "miniature" pot-bellied pig that you may see wandering around! * Enjoy yourselves and wake early enough to catch the sunrise! Thank you. ========================== LOCAL INFORMATION: Let us know your needs and interests and we can help you find the right place(s). ____________________ Sections: Local Highlights Practical Info Activities & Interests Town & City (Shopping etc) Auto & Camper ____________________ LOCAL HIGHLIGHTS * Fairs & Festivals ~ March: St. Patrick's Day ☘️ March 17th Savannah (one of the largest and oldest parades and celebrations in the US). ~ July: July 4th (or closest Saturday) Fireworks and celebrations, Mill Creek Park, Statesboro. ~ August or September: Peanut Festival, Brooklet. ~ October: Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair, Statesboro. ~ November: Sugar Cane Festival, George L Smith State Park. * Family Fun: (Locally in Statesboro). ~ "Clubhouse" (bowling, laser tag, fun zone etc). ~ Cinema. ~ Disc Golf (Free. House Rules

If in doubt, please ask 😊 * Camper Parking: **Important ** ~ Please ensure your camper entrance faces inwards, away from the road. (Safety request from the County!). ~ Entrance MUST NOT be on the road side or you could jeopardize our ability to host future guests. Thank you. * Neighbors' Property: Private. Explore our property but not the neighbors' please! Theirs is the adjacent gray brick house (black roof) with red metal barn (black roof) beyond our paved driveway which runs along the center of our properties. Good neighbors, BUT... they also have a big white Great Pyrenees dog, often outside, behind an 'invisible fence'. If their dog is out, he has been known to charge through the invisible fence if suitably motivated. Stay away - he's not the friendliest. * PETS: ~ Please pick up after your pets! (Poop bags available on request). Thank you. ~ Pets must be under your supervision and control at all times. ~ Please do not walk your pets near the neighbors' property, especially their dog. * WILDLIFE: Be aware of the usual outdoor/ country dangers. Please don’t pick the wildflowers or harass the wildlife. (That includes the snakes and possum - they're the gardeners' friends). Talk to us first about any concerns please. * SMOKING: Leave no trace. We don't, but if you must, please don't smoke around us and take your butts with you. Thank you. * QUIET: It's peaceful here. We enjoy the rural peace and quiet and hope you will too.

Location

This is a very easily accessible roadside campsite. If your rig is longer than listed, reach out; we might still be able to host you. * Navigation: ~ Approach from the north to face the right way. Look for yellow mailbox. (Turn around information below). ~ Avoid unpaved roads. Make sure your SatNav brings you in on the paved road. (See access road conditions below). ~ TIP: Most GPS, SatNav and smart phones have a navigation option for avoiding unpaved roads. ~ TIP: Google maps has an accurate pin for us at "BeeUtiful Bees, LLC". * Camper Parking: ~ Park on the grass, anywhere you like north of the gate (right of the gate when viewed from the road). ~ Power and water are by the gate on the fence line if needed. ~ Please leave the gate clear as we do use it. * Camper Direction: ~ Please ensure your camper entrance faces inwards, away from the road. (Safety requirement from the County). ~ Camper entrance MUST NOT be on the road side or you could jeopardize our ability to host future guests. * Turn around information: ** From the south: Pass our house and continue north to turn around. ~ Closest: The first house on your right will allow you to turn using their (unpaved) driveway. Backing probably required. Can be muddy after rain. ~ Easiest: Two miles north is a 4-way stop. There's a church on the corner with a paved pull-through parking area (we even have a photo on our profile of their sign when it said "God allows U-turns"!) ~ Any locations in between will depend on your rig size, maneuverability, weather conditions, and the kind of day you've had! ** From the north: If you need an easy turn around when you're leaving, head south 2 miles. Turn right at the 4-way and turn around at the church on the left (may not be so easy on a Sunday morning). * Access Road Conditions: ** Avoid dirt roads! ~ ADVISORY: We are in Bulloch county which has the most unpaved roads in GA. The dirt roads around here vary considerably and can be treacherous after rain. Not recommended. ~ Note: You DO NOT need to go on any unpaved roads to reach us. ~ If your directions send you down a dirt road; proceed at your own risk - there will be a paved route to get to us. ~ If in doubt, reach out and we'll gladly help. * Tow Vehicle Parking: ~ There will be plenty of room on the grass behind your camper. ~ You may be able to park in the shade of the Pecan tree by the yellow mailbox ... However: 1. NOT during Pecan season please! (Fall). 2. There can be low hanging branches, so parking here is at your risk. 3. Please DO NOT drive taller vehicles, trailers or RVs under the pecan tree. The branches are brittle and easily broken. Thank you.

Age:

55-65

Details: Retired husband and wife team. Once upon a time... a US Army 1/75th Ranger, later a gov't IT director, then corporate CIO retired to enjoy rural life with his former HR manager and extreme sports enthusiast English wife. Both former Boy Scout leaders and avid tent campers, we swapped to an RV a few years ago (beyond 50, setting up a tent and sleeping on the floor just got less appealing!). We love being outdoors and our home in rural coastal GA is surrounded by farms and wildlife. We have bees, a dog, a couple of cats and a few chickens. (Yes, the birds and the bees!). Life is good. We attend church, love traveling and enjoy hosting fellow campers with our Boondockers Welcome site (we've met some great people!). At Beefield, our home host location, you may find a beehive or two. We're recently retired from the beekeeping business (so we can travel more) but we'll gladly talk bees with you if you're interested. (We sold beekeeping supplies and equipment to local backyard beekeepers and performed professional honey bee removals from buildings rather than producing honey). Helping beginners a speciality! Home Towns: Lodi California and Manchester England Favorite Boondocking Locations: GA mountains, NC Appalachia, Blue Ridge mountains, Shenandoah valley. (I think we like the mountains!) Skills or Expertise to Share: Both: Beekeeping, Christian Testimony. M: Solar, Security systems, IT, Farming, Construction. R: Gardening, Pollinators, things British.

what a great stop during Easter Week. Ruth and Mark are great hosts and Dusty was so kind and loving. the spot was leveled and even though we are close to the road, the car noise was not bad at all we were able to sleep soundly. you can wake up every morning to the beautiful music of the local birds. God bless our hosts even through thier renovation project they were able to meet us upon arrival and check on us throughout our stay. we were in the area to visit our son and granddaughter and we felt completely safe leaving our rig unattended. great host, great stay, would definitely stay here in the future.

In addition to being a wonderful, terrific, friendly host, i was im pressed to learn that my host at Beefield sailed as a Bosun's Mate, climbing the rigging of thesailing ship, "Lord Admiral Nelson." I enjoyed a great conversation and would happily stay here again.

Thankful for such a nice place to stop while traveling. We were greeted with a warm welcome and the parking area was level and easy. We didn’t get to spend much time with our hosts - we were so tired on arrival and left early the next morning - but they were so kind and we hope to get to know them better next time we’re in the area. They offered electric and water and even wood for the fire pit. Dusty the dog is such a sweetheart.
