We are located on 10 acres of woodlands that join onto another private property of hundreds of acres, so we are very secluded once you are onto the property. We welcome anyone to use our 30 amp service that is on the side of the garage, and we can run a water hose to the camper if needed. There is a small shooting range and horse shoe pits onsite. We are just off Rt 50 and Rt 220, and about 12 miles from Rt.48 Corridor H, 60 miles from Winchester VA, and 25 miles from Cumberland MD. We are about 15 min. from town of Keyser, and a Walmart.
We don't mind smoking on the property but butts must be disposed of properly and not left on the ground. We ask that you clean up after your pets. No running generators after 10PM.
The property is located 3.5 miles from the main highway, on a blacktop county road. The driveway into the property is blacktop, but a little steep. Once on the property the back part of the drive is gravel, but pulls through the property so there is no need to turn around. We are able to navigate our 24ft. Thor Siesta and tow vehicle quite well. A tall 5th wheel may hit some branches in the driveway, but we have trimmed them back for our RV.
A tow vehicle can park near the RV. There are a few options for smaller RVs or trailers, and we may be able to accommodate more than one RV at a time.
We have a few RV trips planned, but just give us a call to see if we'll be home. We're glad to host if we're not traveling ourselves.
There is a mountain fed spring about 3 miles down the road, as well as a small waterfalls for fishing or a brisk cool dip in the stream. The birthplace of Nancy Hanks, Lincoln's mother, is nearby. Jennings Randolph Lake is about 40 min. away.
We loved our stay at the Mountain hideaway. Wish we could have stayed longer! The views out there are absolutely beautiful and our hosts were incredibly gracious and kind. We will definitely be stopping here in the future if we ever pass through again.
We had a great stay at the Mountain Hideaway. We were greeted upon arrival and presented with flexible options on our location and use of electric and water. It was easy for this novice to back the trailer into a nice level spot and get set up.
We enjoyed several nice conversations with our hosts about our careers, our travels and our Baltimore connection. The location was very convenient to Dolly Sods which was a very unique hiking experience.
Thank you D & D for the delightful accommodations!
Our stay here was mainly out and about exploring the Dolly Sod wilderness, but our time at the host location was peaceful, relaxing, and quiet. All we heard all night was the sound of the woods. We spent some time chatting with our hosts about biking, routes to take, and their beautiful antique boiler! As their first boondockers we hope we left a good impression!
