Level parking spot with amazing view. Rural, but city close mountaintop getaway near San Diego, with valley and mountain views all the way to Mexico. Two hosts, one a retired, well traveled boondocker and the other a new one! Due to a very large dip off the freeway and our narrow, mountainside location, we can only accept small rigs; less than 25 feet in total length, including any carriers or bike racks. No trailers, we do not have space to turn them around. Suggested Local Attractions:San Diego beaches, Sea World and Mission Bay - 26 miles Many nearby hiking opportunities including Iron Mountain, Mt. Woodson, Mission Trails and more! Fishing and boating at San Vicente Reservoir (fee) - 1 mile, Lake Poway - 13 miles Lakeside Rodeo Grounds- 3 miles Anza Borrego Desert is just an hour and half away

Location
Access Road Conditions: Gated property at the top of a very steep, narrow paved road, greater than 12% incline, with a big dip off highway. Must coordinate initial arrival for gate access, gate does not have a code. Best to arrive first time in daylight, avoiding rush hours to navigate the steep, narrow driveway and so we can show you how/where to turn your rig around. Low clearance rigs should turn off highway at an angle to minimize drag or use unpaved access road (which has limited turning radius). Rigs greater than 25 feet or with long overhang will likely drag at dip and may not make the tight turn from access road. Property is terraced and, again, hosts will assist with turning rigs around for exit. Though we have plenty of space, we can only accommodate smaller rigs due to access and turnaround conditions. No trailers, we do not have sufficient turnaround space. Exceptions for trailers or longer rigs may be made for VERY experienced drivers only.

This was exactly the place we wanted to be. We needed a weekend getaway from a stressful situation and this spot was perfect with beautiful views. Bert was such a wonderful host. We thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with him. Such a sweet person with a big heart and cool stories. We can’t wait to come back. We have a 20’ van conversion and it was a tight turn around to get out. It was doable though.

we really enjoyed our stay here. but the host was awesome. it's a pretty steep grade getting up to the parking area. we have a class b and it wasn't really any issue. it's really a beautiful area with a lot of outdoor things to do.
