Have you stayed at this host location?
Leave a reference for this hostWe are in a quiet residential neighborhood on about an acre of property. The spur to park your RV is tucked in to a spot next to and under oak trees that are well trimmed with no low hanging branches. The spur is 20'x30' mostly level and is located perpendicular to and to the side of our RV carport.
Our neighborhood is surrounded by wooded areas and thus there is the possibility of seeing some wildlife such as turkeys, bobcats and coyotes. We have a swing hanging from a large oak tree and you are welcome to use it. The neighbor on the next lot has cleared away some of the trees.
If you are new to Boondockers Welcome and have no reviews and/or little to no information posted on your personal profile, please provide more background information about yourself when requesting a stay for our review.
Our house rules are pretty simple.
1. We can offer 30amp power, but it is located approximately 50' away so extension cords are required. The hookup for the city water is about 35' away and also requires plenty of hose.
2. If you decide to use a generator that is fine with the exception they will need to be shut down by 9:30 p.m. as a courtesy to our neighbors.
3. Pets are welcome and we please ask that you keep them on a leash at all times and please pick up after them and take all their deposits with you when you leave.
4. Alcohol is allowed as long as you are a responsible drinker and do not cause problems. Smoking is allowed only in your RV as we don't want to have to pick up butts from the ground.
There is a paved street behind our house at the rear of our property where you will see a small white and black sign indicating it is Sugar Court and that is where you will turn left. The parking spur is located on the right and is a gravel drive where you will see our RV under a carport. You will need to either back in or pull in up a slight slope and then make a turn backing/pulling in to the spur on the left of the gravel drive. The spur has trees surrounding it and are they are well back from the parking area as well as no low hanging branches. The spur is set well away from the house and is actually prepped for an eventual carport. It is pretty level and is located perpendicular to the side of where our RV is parked under a carport.
30amp RV power is available as well as a 110 connection, but located about 50' from the spur, so additional cord will be required. Water is about 35' from the spot and requires a length of hose to reach as well.
If in a class A, B, C or a truck camper without a toad, you can either drive in and back out or back-in and drive out... it's up to you. Otherwise, this is a back-in spot located behind our house on a spur off of our RV Carport. Once backed in to the spot, you can unhook your tow vehicle and park it in front of it. If pulling a towed vehicle, you can unhook on the street and then back-in your RV and park your vehicle in front of it. It does require backing up a little hill of about 50' and making a turn.
We sometimes have appointments during the day so may need to be in touch to coordinate your arrival times so we can assist you with backing in your RV to the spot. Please let us know your estimated time of arrival so we may make arrangements to be there to assist you with backing in to our quiet little spur.
We are located near the Homosassa State Wildlife Park where there is an under water observatory to view manatees and see other wild life native to Florida. Our area offers great little places to eat locally caught seafood and we have some of the best flats fishing in the area. Kayaking, golfing, hiking and biking trails are near by. We are a few miles from the Withlacoochee State Forest where there are opportunities for taking off-road quiet drives. Crystal River is only five miles away and has some of the best kayaking available for seeing up close and personal the manatees at the Three Sisters Springs. The Chassahowitzka River is twelve miles to the south and also offers great kayaking as well as manatees to see and swim with.
A grocery store is only three miles away.
Traveling back to Florida, it was so nice to be greeted by these two High School Sweethearts. We lucked out cuz we were able to stay in their huge carport with Full Hookups. Our little Travel Trail thought he was in an airplane hanger. 😆Really nice place. Glad they were able to accommodate us.
We spent a couple of quiet nights here on our way north. Really nice couple. We would repeat.
What an awesome stop! These folks were more than friendly and accommodating- not to mention shared a wealth of information. We spent a quiet, restful night at their place. We look forward to seeing them out on the road after they take ownership of their new TC. We’d be happy to be in their “club”!
Nice stay. Especially enjoyed the “local knowledge” Don shared on paddling rivers in the area.
Appreciated that we were able to stay on short notice with friendly hosts and great accommodations. Would stay here again.
Truly enjoyed our time with TheSandbirds. Great conversations about travel (past/present/future) and 'the prefect RV'. Their restaurant/attractions tips were spot on as well. Hope our paths cross again at some point.
Easy access and host was very helpful. Great place, great people! Our first Boondockers experience was a great success.
All host are great, but Sandbirds are very special to us. We have so many common interest. Look forward to the next time we can meet up with them.
Quiet neighborhood, as advertised. Hosts were helpful with directions and communicating ahead of time, met us to help back us in, visited briefly (with masks on which was appreciated), told us about the area, answered some questions, gave us some info about kayak rentals, and were friendly and helpful. There is also a very nice public library nearby if any future guests need a place to get some school/work done (with good WiFi!) while in the area. Thanks so much!
This, indeed, is a quiet little spur, highly conducive to a good night's sleep. The hosts are two of the nicest people you can hope to meet, and seemed quite concerned about my comfort during my short stay. Much obliged.
Lovey spot that is flat and shady. Hosts are very nice and offered restaurant suggestions. Highly recommend.
The hosts were very welcoming and friendly. The location is a lovely, quiet area with big live oaks, pines and even a swing. We would gladly stay again.
We enjoyed our stay at the Quiet Little Spur and touring around the Crystal River area for a couple days. Loved meeting our hosts. Appreciated them sharing their little paradise with us. Took advantage of topping off our water tank which we really appreciated.
Wonderful host, they were so friendly and kind. We enjoy the great conversations we’ve had with them. It was just great.
Thanks again
Lise & Mario
What a great quiet spot, very convenient to Weeki Wachee, Homosassa and Crystal River. And the hosts are just so very nice and accommodating! Hope we have the opportunity to return some day!
We arrived late afternoon to a warm welcome from the Sandbirds, was easy to find and relatively easy back in to a level elevated site. Quiet spot and slept great on a cool Florida spring evening. We have a nice chat in the morning and shared experiences, camping, adventures and general life. Great hosts, and a great stop if you're in the area. We hope to see the Sandbirds at our host site in the future if they find themselves in our neck of the woods.
Two nights on the spur with lots of shade and easy access. Next to agreat little town for dining out and shopping.
But the best part of the Little Spur were the host very accommodating and just good friendly people.
TheSandbirds are well seasoned RV'ers as are we which made it a fun stop comparing travel adventures, both good and not so good. Will definitely make a return visit.
This is a quiet and safe location. They have lots of experience with RVs and were willing to share their knowledge and as newbies we were delighted to have met them and learned new things.
