Our property is smallish by many standards (just 3.5 acres) and it is flat and has just a few clusters of trees so our house will pretty much be in view no matter where you park. We do have a septic system so you'll have to avoid traveling over certain areas as to not damage it. We have a pool that guests can use, and it has an outdoor kitchen (with a grill, refrigerator, and ice machine) There is also a pool house with electricity and a fan, lawn chess, and bocce court. There are also several outdoor seating areas you can make use of - plenty around the pool including a covered porch with a hammock as well as a pool house electricity. There is also a covered sitting area off to the side of the main house as well as an extensive porch which has great views in the mornings and evenings. Suggested Local Attractions:Luray Caverns Shenandoah National Park Skyline Drive Shenandoah River (tubing, kayaking, and canoeing)

House Rules

Be respectful, and keep the noise reasonable for ourselves and our neighbors. The property is fenced, but depending on the size of the dog they may be able to crawl underneath the lowest board, so you may have to leash it if it tends to roam. We prefer couples rather than families with children, but we aren't 100% ruling out families. No generator use, please. Morning hours (anytime before noon) should be quiet times as I write then and too much noise can be distracting.

Location

Access Road Conditions: We are directly off a paved state-maintained road, but we do have a gate and I'm not 100% sure what size camper will be able to maneuver through it. Once we have some visitors we'll keep track of what can and what cannot make it. Tow Vehicle Parking Details: We have extra parking space on our driveway or people can park on the grass

Age:

Author and adventurer Details: My name is Michael J. Sullivan, and I'm a New York Times and USA Today bestselling fiction author. My best-known works are The Riyria Revelations and Legends of the First Empire. Because I can write just about anywhere, the mobile lifestyle is attractive to me, so my wife and I just bought a Jeep and a teardrop trailer. While campgrounds are fine, we prefer to be in wide-open spaces with great views and just a few people. We will pick up our T@B 320 CS-S at the end of February and we are hoping for a big trip west to see some of the amazing national parks. Our main home (where we offering to host people) is in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia in Luray, which has excellent caverns. It's not overly big (just 3.5 acres) but it is flat and we have a pool, pool house, and outdoor kitchen that people are welcome to use when they visit. Home Town: Luray Virginia. My wife designed and we built a log cabin. Favorite Boondocking Locations: We are picking up our teardrop in a few weeks so we've not gone anywhere yet. Skills or Expertise to Share: For any aspiring authors out there, I can share with you some tips of the trade. My wife and business manager is a publishing expert and loves helping fellow authors navigate the difficult world that is publishing. I enjoy birding although I'm fairly new to this pastime bu I really enjoy it, and we often travel to places where birds migrate.

I, unfortunately, didn't get to stay here due to van trouble and a boob moment on my part where I completely missed his address/where he lived! I must have been looking in the wrong place. No worries though. :)

We arrived on a beautiful sunny autumn da. We were immediately welcomed by Michael. When I asked, he signed my copy of his new york times best selling book "Age of Myth". The property has a pretty view of mountains.

We stayed on September 19, 2023 at Avryln. We were welcomed as soon as we pulled in, by Michael. He showed us where to park and asked if we needed water or power. He then gave us our time to get set up. Once we were detached, Micheal came out to give us a tour of the grounds. He offered us full use of the pool, pool house, and outdoor bar area along with the grill. After a quick dip in the pool, we got ready to go explore Luray Caverns. It was a pretty cool experience. When back we had drinks out at the bar by the pool. It was a beautiful evening. Robin had come home while we were out there so she stopped by and chatted with us for a bit. The location is nestled between beautiful mountains. There is livestock all around and the family dogs were so nice and enjoyed playing. The driveway entrance was a bit tight and the trees scraped down the rig. Overall, we had a wonderful stop and would highly recommend it.

Warmly greeted by host upon arrival. Parked on side of garage with water snd electric. Dogs loved the freedom of the yard and pool area. We cooked an amaxing meal on the pool side grill and relaxed in the heated pool house (no water). Unfortunately it was too late in the season and the pool was closed. Too cool to enjoy the porch or pool area for long. But definitely plan on revisiting when weather is more accommodating. Tight entry for larger rigs due to Stone gate posts at road and winding driveway with beautiful trees close by.
