This was a great stop over! Very easy to get to, only about a mile or so from the interstate. Impressive farm and equipment too! We parked on the slab in front of the equipment and unfortunately didn’t have an adapter to plug into the welder plug but it was a cool night and so peaceful after dark that we slept great with the windows open. Connie Jean welcomed us with farm eggs and info about the area. We were exhausted after 8 hours of driving and really appreciate the good night of rest!
Our level shaded site was near the family farm’s barn and corn fields. Our hostess was a very nice woman who even provided us with local town and Kansas literature as a, “hostess present.” The quiet place was perfect for a good night’s rest, and our only alarm clock was the birds’ singing in the morning.
This was our first BW stay and we loved it! Conniejean immediately greeted us and since the farm had received a ton of rain that morning, she had us set up on a perfectly level concrete pad. Then she invited my 4 children to pick fresh eggs straight from the coop, and afterwards her wonderful husband showed them how to safely play on the super fun antique playground equipment. And they were all thrilled to enjoy the playset! All in all a fabulous stay, we really wish we could have spent more time at this sweet family farm. We will absolutely stop by again next time we come through!
Nice level site on concrete. Very quiet. Host was very gracious.
Our hosts helped us get situated with water and electric. Their property is a working farm, with an impressive fleet of tractors, combines, and more. We had a quiet and restful night. The "Welcome Bag" is appreciated. Our stay was a glimpse into Kansas farm life! Much enjoyed!!
For our first time using this this app, the host was amazing. She was very welcoming and provided so much hospitality. She greeted us with a welcome bag that included farm fresh eggs. She lives on a huge farm and they were finishing up the harvest during our stay. She invited us out to the fields to see how it was done and we even got to ride the combine that collected the winter wheat. It was truly a unique experience and I can not wait to stop through again!
I only stayed one night but would have loved to stay longer. The property was beautiful and the hosts were very friendly.
This host is amazing, CJ, as I will call her, is wonderful, kind, warm, and generous. As is mentioned, she brings you farm-fresh eggs and information on the area. The farm is tucked away off a small 2 lane highway. It is very quiet at night and busy in the day! Josie the golden doodle is super friendly and welcoming. I was located in a covered "shed" and got to watch as the "boys" were bringing in a new combine. Man, I wouldn't want to drive one of those, they are huge!
Thanks for the wonderful stay!
Conniejean, her husband and their adorable Doodle greeted us when we arrived about 7 PM. She greeted us with a lovely gift basket of fresh eggs from her hens, local cookies and information about their community. We spent a pleasant evening walking around their farm and enjoying the beautiful sunset. I would definitely stay there again on my next trip.
Thanks so much for your hospitality!
The farm is such a great escape from the big city and the host made it even better. She let showed and let our son pick fresh chicken eggs which tasted amazing. The books we were given for local events and information helped make our trip so much better. We got a history lesson on the farm and a guided tour from their wonderful dog who stole my wife's heart right away. I really wish we could have stayed longer it's so nice.
Newton was an exceptional place to visit. We were stopping for a break before heading on and really enjoyed our visit. Conniejean is very nice and welcoming. She gave us a welcome basket that included things for our son. The property even had a playground that were better then some state parks we have stayed at. Newton has a great hike and bike trail that is very pretty. It runs along a creek and through the city with informational signs about the history of the town. We also happened to stumble upon a car show that weekend and was really impressed with the amount of cars. If you are traveling through I would definitely recommend stopping and checking out this town.
We apologize, we thought our reference went thru. This place was the most enjoyable place in our travels to CA and back to WI that we have stayed at. Awesome people. Thank you
We had a wonderful time at their farm. The boys had fun collecting eggs, playing with their dog and touring the farm. They were generous and welcoming hosts and we’d love to stay again on our way back through.
We had just a quick overnight stay on our January trip south to escape our Minnesota weather. Our hosts were very accommodating and even had a gift basket for us. We will stop again if it works out.
My 2 teen boys and I enjoyed our stay with Conniejean. A storm was coming in so they had us back our rig into a big shed so we could watch the snow, but not have to deal with it. Conniejean was very welcoming and greeted us with fresh eggs. Like really really fresh. My son got to gather them and loved it. We loved watching all the different chickens wander near the house. Their dog was always ready for some pets and one of the farm cats also loved to be petted. There was even a swingset for the boys to play on. The electricity was a great bonus. (side note for people who need data to work - Verizon had pretty good data. I teach online and was able to teach my classes with minimal slow spots.) I can't wait to return to the farm again sometime when the weather is nicer and Covid is weaker so I can spend more time getting to know Conniejean.
I am grateful to Ms. Connie for hosting over Thanksgiving holiday. We arrive late in the evening and got caught up in a snow storm. Hosts were awesome and got me settled in the dark wet night. Connie greeted with a welcome basket with snacks, a welcome card l, information about Newton, a carton of fresh eggs.
Got to park under a covered shed that kept the Rig protected from the elements of heavy rains and winds.
We didn't get to visit much because of Covid, but Ms. Connie made me feel very welcome and let me overstay a few nights as I waited for meeting after the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Thank you Ms. Connie. Be Safe!!!
Friendly, helpful hosts. I was given a lovely welcoming basket with farm eggs, snacks, water, hand sanitizer and local tourist info. Plus water and electric hookups. Highly recommend!
Connie was so sweet & welcoming! We received such a warm welcome along with a welcome basket with fresh eggs from her farm! This was our first Boondockers Welcome experience and makes us excited to visit more locations!
Our stay at the Claassen Farm was amazing. We were greeted with such warmth and friendliness. It was great fun to walk around the farm. Absolutely beautiful! We so appreciated the welcome basket complete with fresh farm eggs and even information about the area! So unexpected! We hope to be back! Thank you!!!!
When we arrived everyone was so welcoming. They have the sweetest dog that got along great with ours, and probably most. They gave us a gift basket which was unexpected and included fresh eggs from the farm and local information about the area and the state. We only stayed one night and would consider staying here again. I would defiantly recommend stopping here.
